The Magic of Ascanio: The Structural Conception of Magic

Price: US$ 65.00 from most places, but I believe you can get it for US$59.99 from Ellusionist.

Written by Ascanio, writings collected by Jésus Etcheverry, translated to English by Rafael Benatar, and published by Paginas.

Foreword by Juan Tamariz, Stephen Minch, and Miguel Gómez.

Review:
I'm just around the first quarter of the book, but I know for sure this is one book that I would dearly love and will always be with me for a long time to come. There's no trick taught, no cool color changes shown, no new coin concealment revealed. What you will learn from this book is Ascanio's vision of magic, and it's really, really, really beautiful. And that was still an understatement. Arturo de Ascanio is a Spanish magician that (if I'm not mistaken) started the Madrid School of Magic, with members like Juan Tamariz, Rafael Benatar, Paul Wilson, among several other very high class magicians. So you know it's a very distinct credibility he has there.

The book is actually a collection of his scattered materials on the philosophy, presentation, cover, how to study magic, how to practice, the steps of perfection, and many other very valuable stuff. There's also a section of Juan Tamariz interview with the maestro himself.

As I've said earlier, I'm not yet halfway through the book so I can't give out further comment. But from what I've read so far, it has got me thinking and realizing how many things are still left out in my magic. I believe everybody will benefit greatly from this book. And if you're serious about magic, you definitely should make this purchase. The purchase that is much more valuable than 100 mere trickeries combined.
