Description: What are ya favourites?

Close up effects are great. and those using gimmicks are really stunning. I like raven, pen thru dollar, quantum bandits and some other rubberband tricks. Great and for close ups. I think rope magic is great too. Ive yet to learn them :).As for cards, some of the small packet tricks are great :). Michael Skinner's Ultimate three card monte is one of the best I think.
Wat do u do most of the time as a close up effect and why? Would love to hear from u.
Cheers!

Hi folks,
I love close-up magic because of spectator's interaction like the Insurance Policy effect, The Las Vegas Leaper effect, Cannibal cards effects ,etc. I love this kind of magic field and interaction with the specs. :)
Another wonderful thing in close-up is I love the surroundings of spec to watch your magic and I normally love impromptu close-up magic. At the end, I will give them a souvenir of performing card magic like a picture of drawn cartoon travel from card to card.
I don't know how to further express my happiness in close-up magic folks. If you really one day perform in close-up and you will get what I mean the satisfaction and enjoyment you get. ;)
Cheers,
Andrew Loh

Yeah! But I just briefly explain in general about these effects in close-up magic.
:)

Hmmm........ I read some articles in the net few weeks ago, I heard there is a nice version of cannibal cards, where the four cannibals at the end vanish and left the missionaries.
I think should be belongs to Curtis Kam. :)
Would like to know also the Jean Jacques Sanvert's and Juan Tamariz version of cannibal cards.

I like this patter as I perform to laymen, they laughing all the way, that's the way I like to achieve the 'misdirection'.

my favourite close up effect is still the bill switch.
Its the 1st trick that got me hooked to magic

One of my favourite things to do in a close-up setting is "Time Boards" by David Acer and Richard Sanders. Not much new in the handling of the classic in-the-hands Triumph, but the plot about revealing the time with the deck of cards... wow.
And if I haven't got cards on me, then Greg Wilson's Quicksilver is an EXCELLENT killer effect. Jah.

Hi folks,
Mine would be a paper stick-man cartoon will stick to the specs signed card. At the end, it can be given out as 'souvenir'. ^_^
Another is my 'Bizzare Magick', quite a number of effects I used but I seldom perform as not many specs like that kind of magic or horror atmosphere.

cups and balls. my mouth gapes everytime i see someone do it well. lance burton made a mouse come out of the cups and the end of the routine. that was cute.

Hi Baalan,
If my memory serves me correctly, David Regal has this version which mouse appearing under the cups and balls routine in his constant fooling books!
Cheers,
Andrew

david regal's cups and balls routine is great..
hmm, andrew, correct me if i'm wrong...but did he end with mini cups and balls as his final load?? or is that a differnet trick of his?

To me...close up effects is all about VISUALITTY...I mean tricks that are visual...most of the time I do a pen through dollar effect....great for the laughs after they've poke through their RM50 bill and ends up living a hole there :P !!!Vanishes are also strong and visual...I usually vanish simple stuff like hanky and all....note....never do it on a sponge ball....you'll know why some how :o ....hehe....anyways I'm not a close up performer but I do have gimmicks thats for close up magic like cups and balls, rope penetration, linking rings, vanishing deck, and more...though I rarely use them and only use them only when I'm to perform in a party,etc...I'm mostly into card magic....hehe
