Title: How To Take Care Of Ya Cards
Description: Lets all share how we take care of them
Brendan Low - March 13, 2005 03:36 PM (GMT)
My deck of cards usualy last me abt 1.5-2months before i open up another new deck. How i take care is i leave it in cool and dry place.
Air cond helps a lot esp when ya cards get sticky. Because i flourish a lot and like to fan the deck, fanning powder works miricles but it might get sticky after a while. So, air cond and fanning powder will help it again.
wash ya hands b4 flourish. this is to help prevent brown and black sided cards which looks old. but if it is old and dirty, u can always clean it.
How? By the way, tHis i got from Card MAgician ANDREW.
clean ya deck with white bread. take a small chunck of bread and rub the card of the sides or anywhere to remove those stains. i have not tried it yet.. but wil do one day. Perhaps... andrew u can elaborate more on this and add more ways on how u can keep ya cards healty for so long.
Ive seen him using his deck. i tot it was 1 month old but then later he said : " NO la... this i had it for like 5 years and been using it for that long."
I was wat????.. u serious? then he go on abt saying some of the tips i mentioned above.. i was like wow! :P

Wow. does a piece a bread can do the magic? :P, currently i'm using some cheap playing card, and i can last it for new like about 2 months b4 i reopens another deck of card. how about others?

I take care of my cards by not getting my hands dirty. For smokers, try not to smoke before you perform or the cigarette smell will stick with the cards and tobacco and cardboard smells weird together.
I recommend using fanning powder once in a while for old decks to make it easier. Unfortunately for me, my cards are in ok condition while err....the box...is kinda shabby. For most USPCC cards, the boxes already have cut flaps. To prevent the sides from tearing down too far, use a cellophane tape on the outside. If you like to preserve the looks, use the cello tape on the inside of the box. I usually cut the flaps for my cheap decks too. Easier and smooth extraction of the cards.

Hahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No, bread is used to clean the bread not magic elements. ^_^
The thing is you use a pinch of the bread and you start to roll the bread at the dirty area and due to the bread has some kind of sticky elements, it will stick the dirt come out from the card.
Seems like impossible, right??
Try it and you will surprise this works! :P

Advice to MagicB,
Do you REALLY want to keep your cards in GOOD CONDITION?
Then let them stay SEALED in the box and DON'T USE THEM.
-_-

hehe... yeah i did that too, using cellophane tape to preserve the sides of the box. But not no worries coz got card clip. I truely recommend it if u are those that carry ya cards around. :P
And yeah, i also tear down/cut the side flaps to practice opener routines. :P

Hi MagicB,
The Opener routine is it you are referring to CTG????
Andrew
Brendan Low - March 23, 2005 12:17 AM (GMT)
yeah sort off. a lot of people have develop their own way of CTG, or opener. some looks smooth! im still trying to learn to flip the box and catch it on the other hand..... just seem my box aint flying yet lol....

I think just wash your hands with soap will be good enough...
Usually it's the sweat and oil from our hands that cause the cards to be sticky....
Not sure if any other special methods will really make a difference, but, why not?
:)
Andrew Loh - May 6, 2005 02:06 PM (GMT)
Yes, Eric, I am agree with you. To minimise the dirt on our cards, it's better to ensure our hands clean before touching and performing card magic. :P
