Pro:
Good handling of card ..
smooth ... well i mean .. yeah very smooth
nice triumph routine ..
well prepare n can see u put in lots of effort :)
Cons: (peace k ?? just want u to improve)
freaking boring music - can get some better music ? :D
move too expected .. may be i am a magicain .. but somehow i can know what u gonna do just the moment u start doing it.
may b do some talking n presentation ? bit the boring just watchin card A turn to Card B ... triumph .. then switching card .. !
again too much of same sleights over n over again ..
i think classic colour change happen more then 3times.
n some sleight like "visual rentention change" (correct me if i am wrong, kinda forget the name) need to be improve .. can see the card out jog a bit .. small matter but if can make it perfect .. it will b nice.
n u forget to put credit to the inventor of all ur moves :(
Overall: 7 over 10 :)
Keep up the good work :)

agree with JEUZE(is tenkaikool rite?whoa your name change trice in three days~)

quite good for someone who just learned magic for few months.
keep it up.

it was ok... well v good for a few months in magic... but there's room for improvement that can be made.
first of all... loosen up... hands seem a bit tense when handling the card.
The changes were OK, try use ya pinky instead of ya index for the change. As u rub down... u dont have to close ya fingers... u can loosen them up ending up with only ya middle finger. more visual and having everything close/hidden and then revealing later. Give it a bit more "Pow factor!" Watch Oz pearlman. He does it well. Get his Born to perform DVD... v good for beginners. U'll learn some good F.cuts in there too.
Triumph would look better with a lil up the ladder shufffle. I know Brad does not teach that....
All in all 7/10, for someone who just started few months ago. Thanks for sharing ya vid.
And yeah you should learn to credit the moves u do when doing vids.
Cheers,
Brendan

I have see improve a lot compare to the previous version.
Quality is good. And want to ask you the audio clip are from DC?

I'm going to approach this from a different angle :)
I hope you realise that you have only ONE effect in that video? The triumph at the end. All the other parts are sleights (or moves), not effects. I really hope you haven't been performing the sleights as magic tricks to your friends or whoever.
The problem is Ellusionist so often teach sleights as effects that a lot of beginners nowadays confuse the two. This is one of the reason i never really like pengiun & ellusionist. They just teach 1/2 way and they leave the magic student out to dry.
The sleights are your technical moves, your passes, your colour changes, your steals, your loads, etc etc...
These are your tools, like brush-strokes to a painter, or your musical cords to a musician. They are important to master, but by themselves they have no meaning.
When someone wants to see a painting, you don't just show them different brush-strokes. You put the strokes together so that it becomes a painting, it has meaning.
When someone wants to hear a song, you don't say "Check out this cord" and play them a B#. You put the cords together so that they form a song and has meaning.
Just that I thought it's a little meaningless to just make a video of you doing sleights. It's a little like watching a music video and the band is just playing a few fancy cords but not playing any songs. It just doesn't have a lot of meaning.
If you are thinking of just getting some people to check on your sleights thru the video, personally I feel videos are a very inadequate medium. Because all the angle issues that you have in real life doesn't exist with the webcam where you can see yourself on the screen.
Anyways, your techniques are alright. Pretty smooth and practised. Only thing to take note of is to not suddenly speed up when you come to the crucial parts of the sleights. It's a psychological thing, because you are worried abt getting caught, you try to do it as fast as you can. But it gives off a vibe that the spec can catch.
Otherwise it's all good. Don't mean to be hard on ya. ;)
Cheers

technically, I'm not competant to make comments so I wont. I liked what I saw.
What Aloy said about the difference between slieghts and effects hit the nail on the head. Maybe you could have titled it "Card Sleights" instead of "Card Tricks" as that was what they were.
I like your editing...although I can't hear the music (I dont have speakers).
On crediting, I'm a bit on the fence here. Is it unetchical NOT to credit in a performance vid? I'm not too sure and if anyone could enlighten me I'd appreciate it. If it was an instructional vid, I think it was a must, but performance? Just my 2 cents.
Brendan Low - March 13, 2006 02:54 PM (GMT)
It is always good to credit but it is not a must. It is just a form of appreciation for the creators work.
you can either credit in the vid or in the forums... no probs.
