hope to get my hobby as a magician started off here ^_^ n hope to meet u guys in d near future..

btw i visited d magic shop at times square recently..didnt noe there was such a place in kl..lol..would dat be a good place to start with? or are there any more suggestions? hope to get some feedback thru this introduction :) n thnx for ur time reading this ^_^

Hi Adrian,

welcome to the MMF.

1stly, we are in the midst of implementing the "real name policy".
We hope you can cooperate by giving us your last name, as I do think there already is an Adrian registered here already. Please PM Brendan to change your nick ok?

That said and done, I think books are the best way to start although some peoples' opinions might differ with me here.
I've seen some good beginner all-rounder books in Borders or Kinokuniya in KL, and they've good nice colour diagrams and ilustrations, pretty easy to learn from. Books are more value for money than DVDs although maybe a bit slightly harder to learn from when compared to the DVD.

hi n thnx for d warm welcome..

sry bout d name thing..i`ll pm him after this..hehe

so books is d way to start? would u hv any chance of knowing d range of prices for them? how bout dvds? btw..wat books do u recommend? n wat would i get in those books? thnx a lot ^_^

Jeff Gan - March 27, 2006 05:58 AM (GMT)
the price range for beginner Magic books is generally from RM 40 - RM 100

Original DVDs will cost about RM 150 to RM 200 after shipping (i'm not so sure).

Some of the beginner's books I've seen in KL

1) Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic
2) Magic for Dummies
3) Idiots guide to Magic
4) Street Magic - by dunno who...Borders I think.
5) Bill Tar's "now you see it now you dont"
6) Karl Fulves - any of the Self Working series of books..(coin, rope, cards, mental)

Theres a lot more...but I dont know the titles or authors, look around Borders or Kinno, always see them there.

Can forget about Times or MPH.
I've never seen anything there before.
