Title: MMF 1st Anniversary Convention, 3rd June
Description: Discuss here

Jeff Gan - March 31, 2006 11:07 AM (GMT)

The gathering has now been brought forward to June 3rd 2006.
We're planning some stuff to make this a worthwhile gathering.

Please confirm your attendance in the other thread

Jeff Gan - April 1, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
Among the activities planned is :-

1. Mr. James Tong has so very graciously offered us a magic lecture. Thank you sir.

2. Magic Jumble sale / auction by members.

3. Magic performances by members. We're looking for volunteers who wanna go up and perform. This is a good opportunity to strut your stuff. The floor is yours. Those interested, pls PM me and let me know what you want to perform so that we can arrange a good show for all attending. ( we don't want every performer doing the same ambitious card effect)

More items currently being planned. We'll announce them when we've confirmed them so do confirm your attendance early to avoid being disappointed.

Remus Chang - April 1, 2006 02:51 AM (GMT)
Has anyone decided on a venue yet?

If not I have a suggestion and offer to make.

I have a lecture hall with 1 feet high platform, which could accommodate 70 + guests. Fully air-conditioned with seats.

This lecture hall is use for giving Feng Shui talks and lectures. www.trofs.com The Realm of Feng Shui.

Located at Commerce Square Bandar Sunway (the brown Kurnia building next to the Motorola bridge). Very close to Sunway Pyramid.

If you guys are interested, we can discuss further.

An ideal place to have lectures, performance, teachings, even auctions.

Jeff Gan - April 1, 2006 02:53 AM (GMT)
Remus,

We have a tentative location but always open to suggestions.
PM me your number, let's talk.

3. Magic performances by members.

Hey Jeff,

I could do that rope trick... ;)

Jeff Gan - April 1, 2006 12:00 PM (GMT)
ermm...wait.

I'm glad you are volunteering but earlier, Lai already called me to volunteer to perform his rope trick.
I'll keep it in mind ok. Maybe Lai would like to demo us his Linking Rings instead.
We'll make our decision when we have all our volunteer performers.

KevinW - April 1, 2006 12:08 PM (GMT)

i can just watch Lai B)

Have performance, lectures, workshops, jam session and review how its done session.

my lecture hall has a VIP room. so you guys can setup and prepare your stuff in there.

You guys can bring stuff to sell.

JamesTong - April 3, 2006 10:17 PM (GMT)
Remus, do you have music machine in your auditorium? Maybe some guys would like to perform a stage/standing show with music.

Sukyi - April 4, 2006 10:12 AM (GMT)
have we confirmed having it at Remus' place?

Remus Chang - April 4, 2006 11:18 AM (GMT)
HI James,

Music machine? You mean sound system?

Unfortunately i dont not have any installed at the training center

maybe you guys could bring a mini hifi, if you guys want to have a disco session after the event. :)

Hi Sukyi,

Nothing has confirmed yet, we are still open to suggestions. If anyone here has a better place to offer we can all still consider.

For the success of this event, I suggest we all meet up one weekend and work out a working commitee and spread the job function.

We have to make things happen not just talk about it.

music to my ears :)
amen.

JamesTong - April 4, 2006 11:22 AM (GMT)
Remus,

I agree with you fully. A working committee is very important as this gathering seems to be heading towards something big. Lectures, auctions, performances, etc - all these needs to be synchronised and well planned.

Remus Chang - April 4, 2006 11:40 AM (GMT)
I suggest members that are :

1. Willing to perform , give lectures , share knowledge
2. Willing to help out

to meet up on a Weekend to disccuss, to view venues offered by fellow members.

The objective of his meeting is to discuss who perform what, who lectures what, who sells what, who does what.... food / drinks ... etc

Lets work out a date...

Im available on the 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th April,

Sorry, I cant make it on the weekend of the 22th and 29th (i will be in China for work)

JamesTong - April 4, 2006 01:25 PM (GMT)
Any day is OK with me in April EXCEPT Saturdays.

Let me know when and where we are meeting up.

Let us make this event a very memorable day for MMF. First of its kind in M'sia.

KenophLai - April 4, 2006 02:55 PM (GMT)
whoa my exam is on the 12th~
9th is alright for me. meet at Subang?

Remus Chang - April 4, 2006 03:31 PM (GMT)

9th April - Sunday

Subang.

im ok with it

Lets hear from the rest. Jeff? James?

Aloy - April 4, 2006 04:38 PM (GMT)
Beautifully done...:)
Thanks for the effort guys.

JamesTong - April 4, 2006 05:54 PM (GMT)
If it is Subang, you guys can use my office on the 9th April - Sunday.

More private that way, don't you think so?

Bibu Chong - April 5, 2006 01:49 AM (GMT)
jeff, please count me in..:)

Remus Chang - April 5, 2006 04:56 AM (GMT)
Hi James,

Sounds good to me.
we can either have it at my auditorium in Bandar Sunway or James's Office which ever is good. I dont mind. Yuor office is in Taipan USJ am i correct?

Anyhow on that day we all will have to evaluate the 2 venue to see which is more suitable.

And maybe we can also have a small audition for those who wants to peform.
what do you guys think?

I dont think we need the auditions.
Its not like we're having so many people volunteering to perform that we need to filter and select them.

Plus, I really really appreciate the fact that they are even volunteering to come up and perform as most of the volunteers we have today have never done performance this large a scale.
My utmost respect goes out to them. What's important is that they are performing.

JamesTong - April 5, 2006 01:32 PM (GMT)
I am OK with either place - my office (USJ 9/5N - opposite Taipan) or Remus' auditorium. Let me know which is convenient.

9th April is this Sunday - let's confirm the place to meet up for the discussion otherwise it is too late and we may have to meet up next week.

Jeff Gan - April 5, 2006 02:14 PM (GMT)
I've got tons of stuff to do this weekend, so I won't be there for long.
How about we check out Remus' venue this Sunday.

For the other stuff, until we get a definite headcount, there's no point finalising anything yet (caterers especially)

For performers, I've got a few offers to perform from guys I've contacted so I've got it covered. I'll announce the performers a bit later.

If anyone wants to volunteer to perform, please PM me or post here ok?
Sorry but we don't have a budget to pay performers anything. Just being realistic here.

And we'll be needing to collect the money from the attendees for the caterers.
This will be done later, and maybe we can all meet at the caterer's place and you all can see that the money goes straight to the appropriate vendors.
We'll cross the bridge when we come to it. We're proposing RM 20 per person.

There'll be a deadline for registering for the gathering, but we may close the registration sooner if we have all places filled up.

JamesTong - April 5, 2006 10:50 PM (GMT)
It is already Thursday now.

So where are we meeting this week? Can we confirm now? I would also suggest meeting up at Remus' auditorium so we can have an idea of how to utilise the place.

Remus, can we have the address to your auditorium?

Kam - April 5, 2006 11:03 PM (GMT)
Sunday would be very ideal for a meet up day.

Remus Chang - April 6, 2006 03:49 AM (GMT)

What is the nearest LRT or commuter to that building? and what should i tell the taxi uncle in order for him to drive mr there?
thanks.I'm quite new to KL :)

Jeff Gan - April 6, 2006 10:48 AM (GMT)
take the KTM commuter to subang parade.

Actually, I think theres a bus that stops very near the place.
I cant remember the number, as its been a long time since i took a bus.

JamesTong - April 6, 2006 08:02 PM (GMT)
I have a suggestion - since we are making this event a success, why not do it with a memorable purpose? A post-celebration on the 1st Anniversary of MMF! Don't you think that is memorable?

If this is agreeable, why not have more attendance? And also more excitement from everyone.

Jeff Gan - April 6, 2006 11:55 PM (GMT)
Agreed James.

I've previously proposed it, waiting for the others to respond.
