Here is a little, should I call, "interview" that was made by my friend... I'm sure it will answer many questions as... well... it's pretty much an F.A.Q. ... Enough said. :P
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE FOLLOWING INTERVIEW WAS ORIGINALLY CREATED IN SPRING 2005.Interviewer: Let's start off this interview by asking who you are and where you come from.Jordan: Hey, hey! My name is Jordan, but many on the forums know me as Lapping. I live in The United Kingdom, in a part of the country named the East Yorkshire of England, but I was originally born in Leeds, and I lived there roughly half of my life.
Interviewer: How did you get into magic?Jordan: Funny enough, around 7 or 8 years ago, I got into magic by a kids T.V show called
'The Quick Trick Show'. Basically, they showed you a trick, and then showed you how the effects were done, which lead me into magic. I don't believe it will ever show again as the series finished a few years ago, and as to my knowledge, it hasn't been on since. I then started getting cheap kids magic sets and I just loved it. I am now currently into more Card Effects than Coin Tricks or things like that.
Interviewer: Interesting. How long have you been doing magic?Jordan: Like I said earlier, I've been doing magic around 7 to 8 years now, but a couple of years back I had a break from magic. It wasn't until a few months ago I got my hands on some good meterial, and that's when my tallent started to grow the most. The thing that made me get really interested in Card Magic was a website I came across called
Penguin Magic. The very first purchase I made at Penguin were two 'Instant Downloads', and then I started getting loads of DVDs and other things too. I then came across
Dan and Dave Buck, these two twins are great Card Manipulators and Flourishers. After seeing their work, I had to buy 'The Dan and Dave System DVD', that taught me just about everything I needed to know about the 'Flourishing World'.
Interviewer: Does any members of your family perform magic?Jordan: Huh! You must be joking! I've tried teaching them some basic things with cards but they can't get to grips with it! I guess I'm the only person in the family with talent Hahahaaa!.... :P
Interviewer: That's not nice, is it lol. What message do you have to begginers who want to learn magic too?Jordan: I know they aren't going to like this but... practice, practice, practice and.. hmmm.. did I mention practice? Okay, they probably aren't impressed with that, so here's a bit more about me that may help out. When you first start off in magic, it can be an overwhelming feeling to have. I mean, you have so much to learn, it's great! Another thing, if you learn a trick of any kind, whether its cards, coins, whatever, don't show the trick to anyone until you have the patter down and you know your routine, because nothing feels more embarrasing than forgetting a routine during a performance :(. And finally - know your props. To shorten all that down, don't show anyone until you've fully mastered the effect that you want to perform. Despite that, I usually use Allan as my "practice audience". :P
Interviewer: Good tips. But who is Allan?Jordan: Hehe, Allan's a very good friend of mine who is also into magic and flourishes. He is currently living in Norway. We both session daily via internet webcams and we soon will be meeting up at FISM 2006, sessioning with many other great minds, such as the Buck Twins.
Interviewer: Ahh, I see. Hope you guys have fun. Okay, one final question, what is your goal in life? What would you love to achieve?Jordan: Erm, that's two questions, but I'll answer them anyway, lol. :P I guess my goal in life and what I'd love to achieve kind of have the same answer, so my answer to that is I'd love to bring out my very own DVD on Card Magic. That'd be great, walking down the street looking through shop windows and seeing my very own DVD on the shelf. Brilliant! :D
Interviewer: That's a big goal, but I'm sure you'll get there one day. Good luck with whatever you continue to do.Jordan: Thanks, bro. :)

There you go, I hope that all makes some sense.
P.S. Cool forum, Brendan. I'm sure I will enjoy it. :)
