hmm then hv any way can make back that deck became smooth

JEUZE - May 27, 2006 06:38 PM (GMT)
Paid for a new deck. That my only solution.

You can search for some information in this forum for some ways to make a deck last longer.

For restoration of deck?? When you find out a way to make the deck become smooth, please kindly tell me.

Jarrett Goh - May 28, 2006 12:26 AM (GMT)
1.Always keep your deck in the box
2.Wipe your hands before practicing, etc.Because sweat in your hand is acidic.
3.Wipe your deck thoroughly with micro-fibre cloth before and after practicing/performing.Same goes for other props you buy.
4.Never leave your deck in direct sunlight as the deck will loose its moisture, then become sticky and wear and tear kind of feeling.
5.Keep your deck in the card guard is you have one,if not then place the deck on the table, take a bunch of heavy books and lay it on top.
6.Keep the deck in room temperature at all times.
7.Get fanning powder as it helps a lot to make your deck easier for fanning.

Hope this helps...hmm...cschee,there is a topic in M'sian magic forums about keeping the decks in good condition, why not go there.Ah yo,no need la.I have poster every single thing again here, good luck.

Well, if I am going to tell you something now maybe you guys think that is a joke or I am pulling you guys leg.

This is what I did in the past which I was so free, so I took a small piece of bread and just a little bit, place it on top of the card that you would like to clean, use your first finger to roll on the dirt of that card and instantly, that small amount of bread just act like a vacuum cleaner where al lthe dirt will stick to that bread.

Obviously, you are not going to use oily bread to do the cleaning! :P

Nowadays, I am not so free so, I never cultivate this anymore which is time-consuming. I simply buy a new deck and that's it to replace a new ones.

Hope this helps! (I am serious!)

Cheers,
Andrew

I trust you, every strange thing you tell seems to always work, tarot, staring at the kings, now this one.I shall try it!Thanks  :P

Jarrett Goh - May 28, 2006 03:31 AM (GMT)
Magic club,Summit USJ.You can find fanning powder there for RM30.00

I think Magic Ring got sell, but I'm not too sure, maybe some of the other members here will know.

Andrew Loh - May 28, 2006 05:47 AM (GMT)
Haha..... You must have good memory, yes, some people think I have a radical thinking. :( - About the staring of the Kings, it worked right? I always do this and maybe people think I am a crazy guy. :D

Yes, bread can do wonders too. Ask Brendan if you don't believe me, I use a Bicycle League deck for 5 years, it looked quite a brand new each time I jam with Brendan.

Andrew

cschee - May 28, 2006 06:09 AM (GMT)

Jarrett Goh - May 28, 2006 06:13 AM (GMT)
Its worked,absolutely!

cschee - May 28, 2006 08:40 AM (GMT)
erm i just now also hv try.. and that bread also hv became black but my deck i dint feel hv became smooth

Andrew Loh - May 28, 2006 12:41 PM (GMT)
Haha..... thanks for taking your effort trying out. Yes, the bread can help you in cleaning but in terms of making smooth the cards, you have to use fanning powder to apply the cards.

Bread can just help in cleaning only. ^_^

Hope this helps!

Andrew

Quit card and try others. Try coin magic you won't have a lot of problem with coin compare to card.

I not being rude but really you must know what natural means.

Are you use them only once or twice a year or a month?

An used deck always a used deck. The life time is depend what you do to the deck.
Even you never use the deck the deck will have the life time of itself.

A|bert - May 29, 2006 01:12 PM (GMT)
sry...i use it everytime i practise,very dirty.if u dont believe,find a chance I show u XD...

cschee - May 29, 2006 02:34 PM (GMT)
if everyday practice that deck is it will make that deck get smooth ?

Andrew Loh - May 29, 2006 03:31 PM (GMT)
I believe everything in this world whether in whatever form will not last forever.

Just like the deck of cards, yes, when we use from time to time, the cards will somehow dented or damage a bit. If you really want to make sure your deck last long, I normally do the following:

1. Wash your hand before you handle the cards.
2. Making sure you work on a clean surface, oliy table such as Mamak, Chinese stall, etc should be avoided at all costs.
3. It would be best to handle your cards on a close-up mat. As this will prevent the cards from scratching on the surface and your cards also free from dented.
4. Always handling your cards carefully. In other words, do not drop your cards on the floor. Your cards will be badly damaged or dented.
5. If you are practising, sometimes we human hands are quite sensitive and our hand easily sweating, I always before I practise my card routine, I apply a bit of body powder on my palm of my hand and I distribute the powderl on my whole palm, to prevent my sweat palm.
6. Always store your cards in card case when not in use or after use.

Hope this helps!

Andrew

A|bert - May 30, 2006 03:00 AM (GMT)
Thank Andrew for the tips,I hope I could get a close-up mat soon.I always drop my card on the floor, because I used it to practise boomerang card...etc.I wouldn't do it on my new deck ^_^

cschee - May 30, 2006 03:29 AM (GMT)
card drop on floor also will dmg  and i want ask those close up pad where can get it hmm i also cant found it

Andrew Loh - May 30, 2006 03:39 AM (GMT)
Yes, Albert, unless you don't mind your cards dented of keep on dropping on the floor when you practising. ^_^ - I normally use the cheap local cards when practising boomerang card, so on. I feel hurt when Bicycle cards dented and when next time I am going to do Faro Shuffle, that would be a huge hassle to me.

cschee,

You can purchase from online magic shops or you can make your own close-up mat.

A friend of mine taught me to make a close-up mat which looked like a casino style which it's green in color. Overall, well, I am satisfied of making it.

If you purchase ones, well, it's quite costly but I find the material is excellent if compare you yourself make ones. But, yeah, ownself made ones it still can be used, as long as no problem when you ribbon spread the cards on the mat, etc.

hehe.. lol... we are back talking abt the bread story again eh Andrew?

Yeah guys.... man.. a normal wont last me more than a month... i change v often as i play with them a lot!.

it was crazy to see andrew still using his 5 yr old league back bikes few months back and its not as dirty looking as my 1 month old deck. Why? coz he cleans them with BREAD... yeah the roti u makan. Wat brand?.... hmmm i prefer Gardenia to High 5. Anyhow... watever plain bread would work i guess.. but i dont bother cleaning my decks

All i do is wash hands w soap and dry them b4 playing. Apply fanning powder if i need them. Tat all...

By the way... Andrew's old leagues is stored in his cardbox d. I dun think he plays w them d. Its soft like dunno wat already.... yucky feeling but like i said "looks" better than my few months only deck.

cschee - May 30, 2006 05:40 AM (GMT)

Jeff Gan - May 30, 2006 05:48 AM (GMT)

cschee - May 30, 2006 06:14 AM (GMT)

Andrew Loh - May 30, 2006 06:50 AM (GMT)
 - Hey cschee, use bread not 'breath' to clean the deck. ^_^

Yeah, my League deck now resting in my bookshelf, I will never use them already as they all very soft but whether new or not, I have yet to see as I never touch the deck for almost 4 months already.

Are you sure the bread turn black? Are you doing a magic trick? :P

Andrew

cschee - May 30, 2006 08:03 AM (GMT)
nope .. that day i heard u say use breath can make deck .. clean then i try .. but i dun feel my deck hv turn any thing but i saw that breath hv became black

Jeff Gan - May 30, 2006 08:13 AM (GMT)
err...your breath become black?
think you need to see a doctor.

seriously

Jarrett Goh - May 30, 2006 09:03 AM (GMT)
Cschee, you first told us that if you use the deck, then it becomes not smooth. Then why are you asking that if you play the deck will turn smooth when earlier you said that if you plat it becomes not smooth. It is a normal thing a deck will turn dirty, and wear and tear after using for a long period of time.It is a usual thing that happens to everybody. We can give you tips on how to keep it smooth for a longer period of time.

But we cannot give you a way that will keep your deck smooth forever.I and a lot of other members here have already give you many advices on how to keep it smooth for a longer period of time, follow them and your problem will be solved. If you think theres too many to follow(eventhough I follow everybodys way on keeping the deck smooth)then just go buy a new deck for yourself and there wont be any problems.

hehe lol... i cant stop laughing when i read Breath instead of Bread.

hehe... sorry but im sure u mean bread :). LOL

oh Andrew... u may be supprise to see that ur leagues may be stiffer now if it has been sitting on ya shelf.

Most old and used decks, if u let them rest of a long period of time... and u use them again.. they will be stiffer than what they used to be.

i got a pile of mixed up decks which i often grab a chunk to practice my flourish hehe.

oh.. i get crocoaches (how u spell it?) eating them when i sleep at nite. They love my cards! LOL

Jarrett Goh - May 30, 2006 09:49 AM (GMT)
They love magic, probably thats why they eat the cards, maybe they're thinking that they'll be able to do magic too,by eating cards! jk jk,I'm talking too much stuff that makes no sense lol Anyway,I got French homework to do lol

cschee - May 30, 2006 09:50 AM (GMT)
>.< my english weak mah.. so i always type wrong word >.<

Jeff Gan - May 30, 2006 10:09 AM (GMT)
cschee,

sorry I made fun of your english. sorry, my sincere apologies.

Its just that you used bread (correct) one minute and then it became breath another minute.

You should really take effort to read and understand what people are saying before asking questions that are repeated over and over. It gets very irritating.

cschee - May 30, 2006 03:44 PM (GMT)
nvm .. i will see it properly next time
