Title: Little Magic Shop Review
Description: my review
David Lai - June 8, 2006 06:08 PM (GMT)
I don`t know NING personally before ordering so I guess this would be an unbiased review, so here it goes.
I`m used to order a lot of stuff from overseas due to the requirements of my performances. As most of you might know, this sometimes might not prove to be an easy task. For those who do not have acess to credit cards, sending money orders is one hella of a big hussle and some companies(sadly) do not accept credit cards from Malaysia for reasons I will not mention here.
Tax is another idiotic matter.Once I ordered the overly hyped scorpion kit(I ordered two)from ellusionist and the tax was more than the price of a single kit!I have no idea how the customs charge but that was ultimately crazy.Apart from that,I have been charged many times for out of this world(nothing related to Paul Curry`s effect)prices for tax,and this can`t be argued about. If I don`t pay,my items get sent back to the dealers.Don`t let me even get started about ordering cards by the bulk.....I once had a bad reputation with an iternational dealer(which has now been sorted out)due to buying stuff for my friend with his credit card.It never got approved, and everytime they tried, they were charged.
Shipping is very often neglected when ordering items overseas. We all have gone through the timeof putting our orders on international express shipping method to get the items as soon as possible, and check the tracking number every single day till it arrives. What does it cost?A super whooping RM200(or near that ammount).
Another thing which we don`t realise is the shipment of DVDs.The customs will hold up our items to check whether or not it is pirated and only after it is approved, then and then only will it be sent out.I and my friend Robin have personally went to Sepang (on a number of times)to collect our stuff because the customs won`t release it.At one time,I ordered Rich marotta`s Fish Bowl production and it came with a DVD.I had to show the customs the effect to release it.the tax was a whooping RM300 at that time for all the items we ordered.
So,that is mostly the bad part of ordering overseas by yourself. Why does the Little Magic Shop stand out?
To be on an honest level.I sometimes don`t care about the price but emphasize on the service and here Little Magic Shop delivers me both of them. The price is exactly stated at Murphy`s and the service is great.
NING is very friendly to deal with and she accept calls everytime during the day(well accept during her classes).PM her and she`ll get back straight away to you,msg her and she`ll msg back(sms),and call her at 2.00am in the morning and she still sounds sweet.(i don`t encourage you to do that0.To sum it in words, the customer service provided is really good, great acctually to be modest.
The items were delivered very fast indeed(a week and a half for my case)and shipping is FREE.That is really a plus.I don`t have to worry about taxes, shipping, staying up late at night to see where the hell my package is,don`t have to worry about credit card frauds and best of all is I know my products will be delivered and have nothing to worry about.A stress free week.
NING,having never meeting me before, bought RM1000 over worth of props and gimmicks based on trust for me.I paid on delivery.Where on earth can you get a dealer like that.I kept on asking,`Are you sure you don`t want me to pay up 1st?',she kept saying that it`s ok.
To sum it up,Little Magic Shop:
Customer Service -9/10(a point loss for spending 50 cents msging to Singapore everytime)
Shipping-10/10(I don`t have to pay a single cent and a 3 days extra wait is not a problem)
Reliability-10/10(I paid on delivery!Nuff said)
Price-9/10(Cheap but still isn`t the cheapest(due to not having sales),but saving on taxes and shipping is a huge plus)
Overall,a really great magic shop and I`ll be definitely ordering stuff from The Little Magic Shop again.

Here¡¦s my review on Ning¡¦s little magic shop
Since I started magic three years ago, I¡¦ve been buying props and cards from magic shop dealers. I¡¦m not trying to say that the magic dealers in shops out there are over priced but they are very expensive, since they need to cover the rents and stuffs. Being a student, I don¡¦t have extra cash to spend on magic, and this result in me buying DVDs and resell them, or getting props that are of poorer quality. And it¡¦s difficult for poor quality props to produce quality magic.
After spending over thousand of dollars(It means a lot to a student ƒ¼ ) on over priced products and poor quality props, I found my best route to continue my magic journey~ a dealer, young and beautiful, and provide cheap, quality products.
Also, being a very experience magcienne, she¡¦s capable of giving valuable advices on your purchase. I bet most of the time in most magic shops the dealer¡¦s advice is quite standard: everything also good, every time want you to get an appearing cane etc. but you wont get to hear those standard lines from ning. Because she¡¦s our friend, she¡¦s here to provide the poor kids with cheap products, to help us.
One very good example will be my last purchase. LOL
6usd+6usd+3usd=15usd but she¡¦s selling me at 9usd~
That¡¦s a crazy 30% discount with no shipping!!!!
We all love magic and respect the art, but sometimes our budget just don¡¦t allow us to do so. However, with Ning, we can get original products only slightly more expensive/in most cases, cheaper than pirated goods.
Why are you paying for pirated goods when you get get the originals at cheaper price?
I got my D¡¦lite from Ning. It¡¦s original, and it¡¦s cheap.(30 sing dollars if I remembered correctly)
I still remembered last time ppl asked me: where did you bought your original dvd for <40 Singapore dollars?
Here, in MMF/SMC, at the little magic shop.
btw yea wrong section, i just realised also :P

First time trying out The Little Magic Shop. I first knew about her during the early stages of this forum(or at SMC) as far as I recalled. First interaction was when I was going to Singapore for the first time but all I wanted was bike decks. But a more specialized dealer offered me a better price. So yeah, couldn't meet up with the 'infamous hot chick that is so hot that she burns'.
But now she's stopped messing with fire for fear of burning up Aloy because he doesn't like carrying fire extinguishers all over the place. Just kidding. I just wanted to 'spice' up this review. Whoa an unintentional pun!
So yeah, this mini MMF convention was the first time encountering her in person. I was planning to buy stuff through an online dealer but since it's very convenient as the fiery chick *cough*..... ex-fiery chick(hey, at least I think you've quit, don't burn me if you haven't, but then again I plan on starting to meddle with fire) is coming down(or up) to Malaysia while offering very affordable prices.
She's a lady who looks at you with really eyes wide open. Er, it looks nice at the moment but I don't recommend that when you're older(about 45+ lah). Imagine an older lady tending a shop looking at you wide eyed. Aaaaaaaggh!!!
But that's doesn't matter, she's currently a sweet young lady selling with service and a smile. Err, okay for marketing purposes, she a vibrant sexy hot chick dealer with a crack whip who says "BUY STUFFS FROM THE LITTLE MAGIC SHOP OR ELSE YOU WILL SUFFER..... isn't that right, Aloy darling?"
No offense, all the points were already said in the previous reviews so I just had to creativate a few things. ;)

LOL...
BTW....Ning is still very much into fire....i could just BARELY stop her from buying a Fire Staff because she is still learning her Fire Pois...
And wait till you guys see her latest mental magic routine next time we meet again..... ;) FIRE!!! :!!:

Hmm....is this a website magic shop?Or do they have a real magic shop somewhere in Singapore
Sukyi - June 10, 2006 10:56 AM (GMT)
Ning's little magic shop is great... prices are reasonable and you don't have to pay for shipping... i THINK there are cheaper places(in terms of actual cost of products)... BUT... shipping is a major killer factor... and Ning is RELIABLE! she's not one to run off with your money or ffk you... only problem would probably be payment... since she's in singapore... for me it was smooth sailing coz she was down for the mmf convention anyway... of course, since most of you know i refer to her as "Jie-jie"... it means, i don't have to worry about customer service... she's one of the most friendly people around! ;)

*Off topic*
Sukyi Dawn,or Dawn Sukyi,or something like that,LOL.I love your signature about this "Give me a stack of books, i'll ask for the cards again... ".I couldnt stop laughing.LOL.
*Switch on topic*
Can someone tell me whether this shop is a website,or is this a real shop,or both?
Ignatius - June 10, 2006 03:39 PM (GMT)
Neither. It's a shop that only exists virtually on SMC and MMF. Webby not completed and probably postponed/abandoned (by Aloy?).
http://www.thelittlemagicshop.comAnother way to put it, she's a supplier for murphysmagic.com stuffs.
Hmm..... how about "The Little Magic Shop is so damn little you cannot see or visit it. Ning just takes it out of her pocket/handbag/purse, uses fire heat to expand it to life size, goes into it to take out the ordered items and then uh.... do something to shrink it to put it back into her pocket/handbag/purse."
Sukyi - June 10, 2006 03:39 PM (GMT)
it's hmm... not an actual website... but it's an online thing... you can order personally from her..

The Little Magic Shop, what more can I say since the best has been said.
As for me I’ve been buying my cards and gimmicks from overseas, whenever I travel for work, I would make it a point to visit the local Magic Shop.
Lam, Reno, China and Deddy Corbuzier (Jakarta) has been my sources. They are all nice people, however they are all guys.
Whereby this Little Magic Shop is run by a super cool chik, not only is she hot, she is friendly as ever.
To be honest, I haven’t met nor spoken to Ning before the convention. When she volunteered to order stuff for us, I jumped into this opportunity.
I contacted her and she replied immediately, I was in cloud nine when she said no worries she will order the gimmick for me. This saves me all the time and hassle.
No upfront payment whatsoever. I had all the opportunity to abuse this privilege since we haven’t even met. Based on trust, she ordered it for me.
Ning really took the trouble by bringing a bag load of stuff ordered by us and by looking at the size of her briefcase, you can tell it weights a ton and cost an arm and a leg. All the effort based on trust.
I guess many would not have known the hassle and trouble she went thru carrying her magic briefcase across the border, up and down the bus, from the bus to the hotel room and having to answer custom officers on the content of the briefcase.
Well, Ning… THANK YOU so much for the effort.
Not only have I gotten the gimmick, I have also gain a friend that money couldn’t buy.

Sukyi: Oh. Agh. Sorry.
Ning: Up to you. I didn't say it was bad. In fact, I said it looks nice.... just remember not to bring it all the way to old age. ;P
