The main reason we use locks everywhere is that they provide us with a sense of security. But in movies and on television, spies, detectives and burglars can open a lock very easily, sometimes using only a couple of paper clips. This is a sobering thought, to say the least: Is it really possible for someone to open a lock so easily?
It seem very magical to me, after reading this information, I feel my door lock really defenceless. When pick and tension is insert to out door lock magic happen.

Lock Picking
My school locket use a type of locket branded "Master" I think,or something like that.It dont use keys, its a number combination lock where you have to turn to some point, stop, then turn to the next number, and goes on till its reaches the amount of number needed which is usually 3.
I'm kinda interested in learning it..for a good purpose i mean..i've seen my fren doin it twice to open a locked door as sometimes ppl just left the key inside t room..saved the trouble of calling a locksmith in the middle of the night..i'd say it's an useful knowledge..u wouldn't know when u're gonna use it but it might save u one day! ^_^
i should learn this.
My room's door knot broke down for more than 5 times already.
I was very much into Lock Picking when I was much younger; a time when Lock Picking, OBEs (Astral Travelling), Telekinesis and even the Loch Ness Monster were all the rage.
Tumbler Lock would be the most oft' used type of lock for lock picking, and usually, the cheaper ones (with a lesser number of "pins") would be recommended for those keen in practising this artform/skill.
The more expensive brands are usually the ones with a greater number/combination of pins, and therefore, would be much harder for you to pick...one by one.
A standard set of Lock Picks would usually come with at least 3 Picks, and a Wrench (not sure if I still got this term right, but basically it is a 5mm wide metal bar that is bent at right angle at about 1/3 of its length).
There was a seller over at Lelong that used to sell Lock Pick Sets (the very basic ones) but not too sure if he is still dealing with them now. (ref : Paul Chin)
And yes, the ownership or possession of a set of Lock Picks IS NOT ILLEGAL, but when coupled with the skills and the necessary how-tos together with a criminal intention in mind, IS.
PS : It would be a good idea for lock pick enthusiasts to start off with Number Locks; the type that you can find in standard 3-5 number combination locks, on your luggage bags, and even on certain briefcases (for business purposes etc) They are the easiest to master, and would indeed serve you well one day. :)
