Certain effects.. or genre of effects, like card tricks, coin tricks, sponge balls etc... due to the versitility and quantity of the sleights and effects can be performed over and over again, even to the same group of audiences by merly varying the method slightly..

Certain tricks, however, are best perfomed for strangers, who u are most likely nvr to meet again.

let me give an example.. crushed and restored soda can..

senario 1
pick up the can from the trashcan and perform to a stranger.. whoa.. great reaction.. then the stranger moves on goes home thinking abt wat a great thing he saw today..

senario 2
if performed for friends/colleagues.. whoa.. great reaction.. but then u'll get them handing u empty coke and beer can EVERYTIME they see u at class/work for the rest of your life.

anyone else has this kind of experiences??

hahaha..i face the same situation also...for the spoon bending ... everytime i go the same mamak... all keep on passing me the spoon ....my friend also...everytime i go yum cha...they keep on give me the spoon .... but i tell them ... its consume alot of our body energy n focus n concentration ...now i m quite tired, sorry bro...tats wat i do to avoid perform repeatly

i just give the excuse.... like..."sorry.... im having a headache today" or "i dont have the strength for it".... and go on with... "hey.. let me show u something better".... brings out the deck of cards and showtime. :) LOL.

Dickson... haaha everytime i go to mamak stall or to coffeeshop... i almost always bend their spoon... lol.... i dont bend until break la... bend and then straighten it back. My frens always warn me... "dont u go bending spoons again" everytime I take a spoon off the container/basket. hehe

why don't you say something like:
"How about I try bending you?" =)

Unless you can alter the way you present it, or else you'll only start teaching them how to do it when you show them the second time. If you are very very very very good, perform the same stuff for twice should be alright.

If you are good, perform it in another patter or use a different sleight.

If you are ok ok, "my *cifu*(master) said: same trick cannot perform twice, if not the viewer will get some kind of curse"

hahah..me too. i performed a CTW to one of my friend and he asked me to do it for the second time. and i said, "you know a, magic cant work 2 times on the same person one" and he shuts up.i know it's crappy. hah.
