i'm reading a some of these principles for the 1st time.
Are you sure??
Amane - October 28, 2006 06:17 PM (GMT)
Extra sensory preception....
you sure thats considered 'knowledge' ?
i reckon you have to be born with that
haha
Benjamin Chan - October 29, 2006 05:30 AM (GMT)

May be he meant animation, which translates to cartoony/visually pleasing effect, like color changes.
Symphatetic reaction an "effect" in magic?
Amane - October 29, 2006 10:23 AM (GMT)
No, I think animation refers to making objects move around
as if they had a will of their own
i.e. an animated corpse, or using IT =)
Kam - October 29, 2006 10:30 AM (GMT)
That could be it too, I don't know hehehehe.
Jeff Gan - October 29, 2006 04:29 PM (GMT)
animation is ...the animation of inanimate objects...eg..zombie ball, err..hanky..
These few,..I'm not so sure..I don't think they could be considered effects.
9)Attraction
11)Physical Anomaly
12)Sympathetic Reaction
13)Spectaor Failure
14)Control
Antigravity is called Suspension/Levitation
I believe 15-19 is for mentalism..
15)Identification (clairvoyance/psychometry/remote viewing)
16)Thought Reading (Telepathy)
17)Thought Transmission (Telepathy)
18)Prediction (Clairvoyance??)
19)Extra Sensory Perception (this one covers all of the above)
If you wanna go into that much detail, there's also psychokinesis/telekinesis
but it overlaps with many of the earlier mentioned ones.

If I'm not mistaken Michael Ammar covers this subject before.
I remember I ask this question "sliding knot belongs to which catagory of effect..?" in other forum. I get some answers you can't find in M.Ammar's at all but they are considered as an effect themselves. However, as Jeff said, I don't think these could be considered as an effect:
9)Attraction
11)Physical Anomaly
12)Sympathetic Reaction
13)Spectaor Failure
14)Control

erm...yeah,15-19 is mentalism! :) (Animation)??erm...my book is written 'Antimation'...?! ;) eg.magician can let the stone dancing...
'Thought Reading'=eg.magician know what are the spectator thinking...
That's all I know. :)
nice day,
Jeff Gan - October 30, 2006 08:09 AM (GMT)

Benjamin Chan - October 30, 2006 08:14 AM (GMT)

let's say you do a trick, but you didn't do it very well...or you really messed up your trick ..(example, you couldnt find the selected card)...the crowd pities you and still claps for you even though they wasnt entertained, because they don't want to discourage you.

I think spectator failures include tricks like 3 card monte or 10 card poker deal where the spectator fails to win or guess correctly??
Anyway, what category would Spectators cut to the Aces fall under?

Incredible luck ;)
Actually, I suppose Card Magic would have their own subcategories, I'm just assuming here ..
1) Location
2) Gambling Demonstrations
