The worlds LEAST expensive Illusion is called "Transmogrification" by Charles Waller, as described in John Northern Hilliard's "Greater Magic." A variation of it which makes it a little easier to perform, is Jim Gerrish's "Transfigmigration" in his PVC Pipe Illusion Book #2 (on my site).

Jim's name for the illusion is easier to explain and understand: the illusionist is transfigured into another person, and then migrates to the rear of the audience to reappear and run back down the asile.

As with most illusions, it requires a couple of assistants, so if you are interested in being an illusionist, you will need one or two assistants to help you with most of the effects.

spellbinder, do u have a successful illusion show with cardboard and pipes?

i was told that it doesnt look proffesional and can`t be sell as show itself,
hope u can post some video clips to share with us, the reading is imaginatively interesting, but does these things looks that good in real life?

The PVC Pipe Illusion Book serves two useful purposes-1) it allows the beginning illusionist to experiment with illusions without spending a fortune. If you are just starting out, you aren't as concerned with whether or not your props "look professional." You want your audience to be impressed with YOU as a magician and illusionist, not be impressed by your budget to buy big fancy boxes. The PVC Pipe illusions allow you to try out new illusions you can't yet afford, train your assistants, work on your presentation and music and all those other things so that when you can replace them with more professionally built illusions, you'll know which ones you want, how they work, how the audience receives them, and so on.
2) It allows the professional illusionist to make proto-types of illusions to bring to a professional builder and have them made correctly with all the sizes worked out for you and your assistants. With a working model made of PVC pipe in front of him, even a non-magical but very good carpenter can figure out what it is you're trying to have built, and how big it must be, etc.

Just because the illusion is made of PVC Pipe doesn't mean it has to look like it. We show you how to cover the pipes with various kinds of "skins," and use paints and tapes to make them look less like they just came from the hardware store.

I hope that answers your questions and concerns. You can also go on The Magic Nook Forum and ask questions of others who have already bought the plans and are building their own PVC Pipe illusions. Most of them don't plan to keep them as PVC Pipe illusions forever, but just until they are ready to convert them to wood, plastic or metal illusions. In the meantime, they have some real working illusions to add to their current shows and each one costs about $20 to build.
