hey guys..i got some thing to ask about the card flourish.. normally how do you guys approach or perform flourish and cards revelation to audience.. i do card flourish and a little revelation but just for myself..because im not sure how to use a better way to perform for them.. any opinion?? :huh:

I do flourishes casually while pattering and thinking abt the next magic effect to perform .

I do some simple flourish at the start. That really gets attention. And if they wanna see more.. even better... build up the flourishes and show them even more crazy stuff.

Use revelations a lot as well... a lot of ways to loosing the 4 of a kind into the pack and bring in them out either one by one, or in a flash etc etc. It's v cool.. laymen just go wow coz they know it skill/sleight of hands.

I think people respect more when there's skill involved when showing the effect.

Flourishes are great when u are going to do card magic for a longer period of time. They will leave and know tt you are skilled with cards for the things u did.

If it is just a one effect magic and walk away... just do the magic and leave. They will leave remembering the one trick (the effect) u did.

In short I normally flourish without thinking... it just happens naturally i guess one u r a season flourisher.

Here's a bit about what I think of flourishing in front of a lay audience...

Personally, I would NEVER in all my time use a flourish to reveal a card. By "flourish" I don't mean a Hot Shot Cut or a Top Shot, I mean a 20 packet sybil or anything outrageous, because that's really pathetic and it just isn't magical at all. The only time I do use flourishes, is when I'm not performing, and I'm attracting attention to myself. It's surprising how many heads look towards yourself when you do a couple of supersonic sybils lol.

All I'm saying is, use flourishing in your own spare time, or when you're together with your magic buddies. Don't just sit there flourishing in front of a layperson when you're performing. It's very intimidating to them and it can be taken as you're "showing off" in the wrong way, they can get offensive. Do make sure you have established a good report with them before doing anything like that. It is then when it is appreciated at it's greatest.

We spend most of our time flourishing just to impress ourselves... it is self-satisfying isnt it. haha

One just wanna get better and better.
