Aloy - February 24, 2005 03:40 AM (GMT)
I'm wondering, since the casino is there, are there on going magic shows up in Genting Highlands?

Brendan Low - February 24, 2005 05:44 AM (GMT)
haha Genting Highland.... i think that was the first time i saw magic happened when i was just a lil kid. lol. im sure they do have magic shows once in a while. sigh... how i wish david copperfield can come perform there. i will surely go. is he still performing by the way? or retired as in no more stage magic already?

Andrew Loh - February 25, 2005 12:55 PM (GMT)
Hi folks,

Yes! Last time, 4-5 years ago, a friend of mine lent me his Video tapes which he captured many Malaysian magicians perform in there.

Wow! It was a great watch.

There were also other country magician performed there as well, his name is Mike Michaels.

He performed the floating light bulb just as the human suspension and etc.

I love his performance very much!

Hey, just 2 years ago, Singaporean magician Lawrence Khong and his daughter, Priscilia Khong performed in Melaka at the MITC. I love their stage appearance and performance.

Cheers,
Andrew Loh

Brendan Low - February 25, 2005 05:52 PM (GMT)
Yeeah yeah magic of love.. i went there too Andrew! Yups MITC melaka. Magic and performance was good but audience ah.... er.... as expected la... not v supportive. hehe... anyway i did enjoy myself that day. I bought their IF magic VCD. Jeff Mcbride was o cool in the IF Magic VCD. I even got priscilia to sign one of my bike deck, but i lost the box now sigh.. heehhe.

Andrew Loh - February 26, 2005 12:51 PM (GMT)
Hi MagicB,

Yeah! I bought their photos and they were so kind to autograph it. I still keeping it today.

Hope in the future, more magicians will come to Malaysia perform magic.

But, it seems local people do not really supportive in this kind of show. :( - I even called up my relatives to attend the show but they said it's waste of money.

Can't blame them as they are not same path with us, right????

Best Wishes,
Andrew Loh

Brendan Low - February 26, 2005 02:08 PM (GMT)
hey... i also bought their pics lol.... I only got pricilla to sign. Pastor/magician lawrence kong aint free that time lol.

abt the audience well true true... cant blame these people man. as malaysian magicians we have to know we are dealing with a totally different crowd.

Andrew Loh - March 1, 2005 02:32 PM (GMT)
The photos cool, huh??? Isn't it???

Brendan Low - March 3, 2005 09:55 AM (GMT)
hehe.. yeah the photos are alright, kinda cool. My dream is to be snapped with one of the greats in magic such as Daryl, Copperfield, Blaine, Green, Malone, Gusteferro, Oz Pearlman and or even Brad Chrisitian.

Andrew Loh - March 3, 2005 03:23 PM (GMT)
I am just curious because none of them selling their own posters????? :(

Some magic posters they do sell on the website, like King of Cards, those classic stuffs. Quite nice!

Andrew

Brendan Low - March 3, 2005 04:08 PM (GMT)

Jeff Gan - March 17, 2005 03:04 AM (GMT)
I dont remember ever having heard of a magic show in KL except for the copperfield show many many many many years ago.

there was a show in genting a few months back, but i dont recall who,...

AlexTsui - March 18, 2005 01:17 AM (GMT)
Hi, everyone.

I have seen a number of Las-Vegas standard magic shows up in Genting and at really reasonable prices too. As for David Copperfield performing there, probably that place is a bit low-class for him (heh heh... he has quite strict demands).

I've also heard that he has retired from touring around the world. That means he will only perform in U.S. from now on. If that's true, we can only catch him on TV or we'll have to save up our money for a trip to Vegas. :D

Yes, Lawrence and Priscilla has quite an interesting show. I like how all the tricks were tied together in a story. Too bad I didn't get to talk to them personally. Well, maybe next time.

Let's hope more good magic shows come to Malaysia!

Andrew Loh - March 18, 2005 01:59 AM (GMT)
Yes! I hope so there will be more magic shows in Malaysia as well as magic conventions or lecture sessions.

I would be great to have lecture sessions as we can meet other magicians to lecture here and we can request their autograph to our magic books, take photo with him, etc.

Wow! I can't wait to see this lecture sessions hold in Malaysia. :P

alex,

DC did a show here many many years ago. when i was very young i remember.
so many rumours arose from his stay here, with talk about black magic and stuff. now we know better. (partially thanks to valentino)

is that good or bad?

ChongWei - March 18, 2005 04:22 AM (GMT)
"partially thanks to valentino" .. i think for me, it would be.. ALL thanks to calentino.. he revealed almost all of the famous stage magic ...

i personally think.. IF because of this exposure, and some magician manage to work out some "enhancement" of the trick and bring it to next level. its a good thing thou. but, again, some magician will revealed it again.. so, its getting harder and harder to have new invention.

Brendan Low - March 18, 2005 10:08 AM (GMT)
i actually kinda hate HIM for exposing such secrets in open to everyone in the world. common!! i mean if he just expose to a small society or group, then ok la... but he go revealing it on national tv etc etc.. that's crap man.

Valentino was such a great magician but now i guess he is one of the most hated ones. eventhough im happy that i now know the secrets to stage illusions, i still hat eit coz now almost EVERYBODY knows due to his Magic Secrets finally revealed shows.

This sux because now everytime i go stage show (my last one was Pstor Lawrence and Pricilla), they sure ought to be people shouting out and saying ah.. he is hidding here and there blah blah blah and yes, its true .... but u see wat this is doing to stage magic? its making people challenging magic and not absorbing the magic moment.

Im not so into stage magic, so it does not really affect me... but im still disappointed that there is such a so called magician. Anyone know wat is happening to Valentino now? Is he still alive?

Andrew Loh - March 18, 2005 10:49 AM (GMT)
Yeah! I am offended also!

BTW, I heard some magicians in the US told me that he has been assasinated, is that true?

Hey! Valentino is an awesome performer and I watched in shows in my magic CDs. Sadly, he did this kind of UNETHICAL acts. :(

Great! We will be going for the 2nd June show. It would be nice to meet some of the MMF people 1st before the MMF meet.

Would you be staying over up in Genting too? Or you going back to KL the same evening?

Ning - April 25, 2006 06:18 AM (GMT)
Yay!!! This is awesome :P Anyone else besides Dave? ...Or has everyone else here already caught it? :ph43r:

You can check out the video clips here ^_^ I think it'd be fun that we meet up before the official MMF event... can spend more time and everything.
