Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the shops.mMagic-I staff there are very friendly, willing to share with you their knowledge in magic and perform you magic effects, willing to discuss about the art like as if they are your magic buddy and have known you for sometime already. The boss there especially, very talented magician, and very friendly.
Never been to Magic Ring but will someday. This is just my own views.

I think Magic-I is cool..ive been there many many times and tink they sale good stuff. The only problem is, there is very limited stuff in there, dun expect 2 find most of the penguin magic stuff or the ellusionist stuff there...things like invisible deck and ghost aint there at all. However, they do sell basic neat tricks like svengali and stripper and many others. Truth be told, the price 2 me is a lil ridiculous though. Its not that its expensive, but i dunno if it has value for money.I dunno bout magic ring, but a svengali deck, normal card like deck(not bicycle) costs rm 30..how much would it cost in magic ring..any idea?Oh one thing though, the staff are gr8,well adversed with their magic..and really really helpful..wuts more,u get a vcd along wen u purchase one of those hard 2 do magic tricks..ok then...C y'all.

I'm sorry because I forgot to mention that Magic i boss is friendly.Actually he is more friendly than Magic Ring workers. For example,I ask him what the effect of one of the magic prop he sell and he quickly perform the trick for me.

Cool...but can sum1 actually tell me the price differences between magic-i and magic ring?Which is more economical and which is of better quality and hence value for money?

Alrighty I have a few words to say about all this.
For those of you who don't know, Daniel (Magic-i) used to work for Magic Ring in Berjaya Times Square. In my opinion, he is one of the most underrated, humble and helpful magicians you could find.
As for economical reasons, consider this : Let's say you live in PJ and you wanna go to Magic Ring in KL. Sure the prices are a bit cheaper, but once you take into account transportation costs (LRT, petrol, toll, etc), it's more or less the same if you go to someplace nearer like Magic-i.
And as for value for money, I think it shouldn't be a problem if in the end you are able to perform something flawlessly and with passion. That's your "VALUE" right there.
Anyway, I know there are some budding magicians who can't afford to buy stuff due to the fact that they're not working, still students, whatever. Back when I was a student, all I could afford were cheap playing cards to practice moves, which I must confess, I've never gotten good at.
I'm starting to stray off-topic here, but what the heck. I feel that a lot of new magicians (hobbyists) are going too fast. They are trying to cram too much information in too short a time. Why is that? Are you guys trying to compete?
The only one you should compete with is yourself. Take it easy,go slow and youll get better. Patience is so important in Magic, I can't even begin to describe its significance.
Anyway, I said in an earlier post that it won't do any harm to befriend the magic shop staff. A friendly word, a 5-minute hangout to chat, a smile...all those things will go a long way. Trust me on this.
PS - Magic-i does have a supply of IDs, albeit limited. I just bought a deck, in fact.
