Hi Azim,

Before you venture seriously into mentalism or metalbending, do take the time to read my blog. I've got some thoughts on mentalism there.

I just learn how to bending spoon, but i think it required a very high effort and misdirection to done it. I never try it in my performance because i'm affaid the secreat blow. I need to practice it, practice it and practice it.

Mentalism is a lot about the image as much as the tricks performed. Before going into mentalism, do some research on how other mentalists look like, how they perform. the nuances of being a mentalist.

For instance, a 15-year old kid wearing baggy pants and a hockey sweater is not gonna project a "mentalist" image. However, it will be fine if he decides to perform something else, like street magic. In fact, baggy pants would be a great way of concealing stuff.

However, it doesn't mean that you have to follow conventions. A rock-star persona might work, so long as you have the personality of a mentalist and project a certain air of authority.

One very important thing to remember :

Presentation is EVERYTHING in Mentalism.

if you wanna go for metal bending..
i personally recommend Morgan Strebler's "Liquid Metal"
its really cool ...B)

Penguin magic:
"You're about to learn the most VISUAL metal bending routine in the world. The routine features 2 FORKS and 6 STUNNING PHASES! Each phase builds upon the one before, and at the end the spectator is left with a KILLER SOUVENIR."

Even banacheck said this :
"Morgan has taken a fork bend into an area I never would have dreamed was possible."

but Psycho Kinetic Silverware- by gerry and banachek is also good... :D

I'm not an expert but my opinion is, especially in mentalism, less is more.

That said, I do use bits and pieces of the Liquid Metal routine (ie the multiple tine bend, which I think is brilliant.)

Criss Angel... the emo style... oh... he isn't a 15-years old. My bad. B)

Adlan - January 9, 2008 10:57 AM (GMT)
He's also not a mentalist in the strictest sense.

mann - January 9, 2008 01:31 PM (GMT)
^ ^ Very true.

One off-topic thing to point out,

Isn't it odd that Criss should have hired more stunt coordinators and consultors instead of having Banachek and Jermay to be his consultors?
