Title: Rubber Cement

josh4car - March 24, 2007 12:32 AM (GMT)
Hey guys,
just a quick question. I have an effect that needs rubber cement, unfortunately i have not been able to find it here in Malaysia. Am I just looking in the wrong places? Does anyone know if 'copydex' is available here? Any help would be appreciated.

Well, i needed rubber cement for a prop i was trying to make last year. Yea, i doubt you can find any, even if ya did, it would cost a lot!!

you could try the glue that they use to seal glass to picture frames. I got mine done at Brickfields at this framing shop. But they kinda made it messy so.... Or you could buy the tube of glue and the glue-gun at a hardware store. I can't remember what's the name...... the transparent glue they use in aquariums.....

Hope that helps!

I thought rubber cement was the generic term for Dunlop Glue?

Never heard of Copydex. If you need something real strong, try Araldite. It's pretty strong, and you can glue metal with it. You can get it from most hardware stores. Has 2 tubes, which are pretty useless on their own, but when mixed, is a very strong glue.

Faber Castel has rubber cement.. Stationary shops should have them.. i got mine from Popular, but tat was like 5-6 years ago.. It comes in tube form or in a metal can.. dark green lable.. it says 'Rubber cement' on the lable.. shouldnt be able to miss it..

Now, i heard there's a type of adhesive tat acts like the stuff on 'post-it', where you can remove and re-stick it to another surface.. anyone know where to find this??

I think you refering to this kinda stuff. You can get them from any art supplies store. This isn't what josh4car was asking for though.

Most stationey shops sell it but I think about RM 9 to 10 ...
Rubber cement in Malaysia is often called "cow gum". Try using this name and it might help.
