its ok to shake man... i used to shake alot too... man... its like nothin can stop it from shaking...
to overcome shaking, just be relax. i mean... its easier doing a DL or elmsey count when u are relax. so relax, dont tense up. have a soft touch for the cards.
dont worry abt ya spectator trying to spot ya flashes. just be calm... have a few prepratice sessions before performing.. get use to ya specs first... the more u perform in front of people... the less u will shake in the end.
i hope it helps.

HAHAHAHAHAH SHAKING!!!!!!
Dude, I still remember the first time I performed to my ex's friend who was just a hottie, and I ended up shaking so badly! Damn it was so embarassing cus then it turned out she knew a thing or two about magic too (without realizing I just rhymed twice).
So yeah.
Uhm.
It's the handling of the cards. I think once you perform very smoothly to one person, you'll get over the shivers.
And if you flash...
...you better have an invisible deck ready at your disposal (here's an easy way out).

Yes, I have to admit that I do experienced that kind of situation before.
What I tend to do is if I perform for laymen, I normally starts off with mental magic first, because as you know, mentl magic does not involve lots of hand movement and you just concentrate on the presentation and the methods of the effects.
After I perform mental magic, at that time, my adrenalin is already wind down that means I will feel less nervous, then I will go on to perform card magic. This is my strategy to handle the nervous in me when performing magic to the spectator in a big crowd.
For magicians, then it's more challenging for me because for magicians, they are quite experience so that means they will roughly know what do you actually executing if you flash anything out. I normally try to distract them if I have any chance because that's the only way you don't want them to watch your hand closely, right?
I read an article before another way to handle nervous is to jump and shaking you hand hardly, I think this will help. ^_^
All the best,
Andrew

When you mess up, they'll only acknowledge it as much as you do. Which is why people get so involved when you supposedly "mess up" for a sucker trick, only to recover with another killer closer.
So just don't acknowledge the error, just pass a good comedy line like "that's the first time THAT happened again!", and move on to the next effect.
Oh and yeah, back to the original question: "Wat To Do When I Flash?": just cover up your damned d*ck and go find other "clients".

Hi ya, first ever post.
Seriously i still feel that way now. But hmm, it actually wont affect you at all, unless u are too concern over it. Since you can handle your thing very well, you can do it for sure. Confidence is also very important in presenting magic.
I might not be in position to tell you anything. But hope it helps.
My 2 cent thoughts.

When anything happens, I will like, Stare at the card,(If i miss DL, stare at both cards). And then say:" Now thats wat i can misdirections. Lets go on.."
Well, Always do to my frenz and if i make mistakes, they will auto say exposed!!! Get pissed off, but i will return and say, no, its part of the effect. Who say its exposed.
Andrew Loh - April 27, 2005 02:23 PM (GMT)
Yeah! A very good plan to switch to other effects! ^_^
Yes, this is good and it works because the spectators don't know and don't have any idea what are you going to do next.
This provides you ample of covers! ^_^
