Yeah, fund raising events are always a blessing.
A few months back we had a fund raising event in melaka and it was great that we had some magicians from KL coming over to perform and entertain. We manage to raise quite a bit from the coupons collected.
It was a great experience for all of us who were there.
I encourage those of you in KL to go be a blessing and perform. It is a great way to practice and when you have this opportunity to live people. :)
Man, my church needs money for building fund too :P
Christopher Ng - April 11, 2007 11:59 AM (GMT)
haha
yeah
and it is also a good way to gain experience for those who are new, since we are performing to mostly laymen and kids
this can also train ourselves to approach people in the future for performance
:P
Edmund Lee - April 11, 2007 03:25 PM (GMT)
haha
but dont let them catch us ok....
if not we need to give out the prices...
any way thanks for supporting..
and sorry about the sms language... :P

how long we have to do?do we have a fixed place to do or just walk around?
Edmund Lee - April 16, 2007 02:13 PM (GMT)
we will be at 1 fixed place..
and will be performing for 3 hours
bt in between we willl have break time ...
szehowe - April 19, 2007 03:45 AM (GMT)
means 1 hour break 1 hour break 1 hour?or half an hour?what tricks we need to show?is it a parlour act?or just close up?do we have table?spectator standing or sitting?HAHA im asking so many question
Edmund Lee - April 19, 2007 11:31 AM (GMT)
im not sure on how long we perform and rest...tricks...any tricks can be lingking rings...card...sponge balls....everyday object..it's close up and yes we do have a table....if u want the spectators to stand or sit let me know...then i can ask them to prepare for us....
Jeff Gan - April 19, 2007 11:37 AM (GMT)
Lots of questions you should ask the organiser.
Will your table be in the center of everything (bad) or will you be against a wall (can watch your angles).
Christopher Ng - April 19, 2007 04:57 PM (GMT)
there will be a room provided for us
erm...the organiser wil try to give us a room
wit a few tables
and our back facing the wall
as we like..we can arrange the place

You know, I think I'm losing my mind.
I've almost no recollection at all on making that post....
Anyway, please if you are gonna do this, do it right. Please give magic the respect it deserves. Break a leg guys.
Christopher Ng - April 20, 2007 03:20 PM (GMT)
er jeff i dont really get what u mean?
we will have a room and we will be performing facing the audience, our back is protected
due to reasons that we are not really experienced, we plan to do more of gimmicks and gaffed tricks rather than hardcore sleight of hands that exposure risk is high
maybe our routine will be cups and balls, svengali, invisible deck, stripper, sponge balls..etc
cute and entertaining magic
almost automatic magic...haha
and we do respect magic
any good advice?
* by the way i am not part of the organising team
edmund ask me to help out
and the information mention is what i was informed by them
so kinda blur also. haha...
but will make it as good as possible
szehowe - April 21, 2007 06:35 AM (GMT)
That is what jeff is talking about. Do the tricks that you are familiar and practice with :) . Make it organized and make sure that the spectators are entertained :). Like the one held in Melaka last year there is many experienced ppl there to help out. Lai,Jeff Gan,Brendan,Yen loong and me was there and out of so many of them i'm like a newbie ;) . Yeah but i need not worry much because i had them cover my ass as i have just started magic few months that time. I've gained valuebe experienced there and i guess thats what jeff is worried about :) .
Paul Long - April 23, 2007 03:46 AM (GMT)

Shon Chong - April 25, 2007 12:54 PM (GMT)

Edmund Lee - April 26, 2007 05:35 AM (GMT)

so that i can ask them 2 perpare for us...
isaac - April 30, 2007 06:01 PM (GMT)

Back from the fund raising.
Reviews:
Glad to see more and more talented magicians coming up.
Edmund and Chris cards tricks - still got a lot to fix but I guess is pretty ok for a new magician
(if I am not wrong you all only into magic for few months right?)
Jeff Gan, you improve a lot in the aspect of presentation.
And of course your skills too :) :)
I love your fork bending.
I love Shon's Arm Twisitng and with a finale of breaking the arm.
Girls actually scream and yell ... :!!: :!!:
Yukiko, confident young lady magician.
Did some simple yet effective card tircks.
Here are few pointers:
Ok, Chris and Edmund.
I really do not like the whole idea of challenging the spectators.
Try not to do it this way.
We are entertainers not challengers.
*
Also your Hummer Card, the way you all "start" is wrong or I can say not the best way to do it.
PM Jeff Gan for more details.
Christopher Ng - May 1, 2007 02:59 PM (GMT)
Had a great day
Thanks for you guys support, Jeff Gan, Isaac ,Yukiko and Shon Chong
Jeff Gan thanks for your fork bending routine and some good piece of advices
Isaac thanks for your linking ring routine and also svengali deck.
Yukiko thanks for your cards routine, and is really enjoyable to see female magicians out there to perform
Shon Chong ,thanks! i like your odd or even trick, and also the disjointed. u manage to make the thing go so real!
ya the idea of challenging spectators is very wrong, and in the end we manage to change the rules , i got so freaked out and worry too when i knew the idea.
.luckily today no prizes is given out . haha
again, thanks and have a good day guys!
