Title: Speed Vs Misdirections To Conquer Magic
Description: which is more ya type

Hmm... this maybe a "stupid" question to ask but WTH i will ask it anyway. hehe
I just read Andy's comment abt Heckler... saying that tudor is fast etc. So i tot abt it awhile and tot why not make a Question out of it....
so here is it.
I mean in Magic.. u do the move/sleight either..with speed or with misdirection and "bam". I mean yeah most would say u combine speed as well as misdirection togehter to get the move done.
I see different people do different ways.. some is just like rushing through the moves/sleights. Others take their time, patter and misdirection to let the spec stray away from the hands. well... which is more of u? do u like doing the move fast and get a way with that or u more of slow and use more patter or movements etc for misdirection then slowly "BAM"
k...hmmm... hope u guys can give ya view on that.

slow. more ooomph when its done slow because it cant be attributed to fast hands.

kev,
just my oipinion dude. whats yours?

Hehe, nah... I was referring to Brendan's post, not yours. It's kinda evident what's what, but I guess the confusion with Tudor's DVD might have stirred the confusion.
Misdirection is a great utility, no matter WHAT. There's no such thing as "knowing about misidirection", because if you know a certain heckler is "in the know", you can MIS-misdirect him, such as REALLY placing a coin in your right hand, and while he's looking at the one on the left, you can do something else with the right hand. ;)
Speed... fast is always cool, but most people forget to be fast with clarity. Become smooth first, then speed will naturally take place. Aight!

And that one applies to every other form of art as well.

yeah.... smoothness in everything is KEY. ur magic/flourish will look kinda "shitty" if it's fast but not smooth. Slow but smooth looks better than fast but not smooth. im still working on being smooth with my handling... i dont realy care abt speed. maybe later... but... not now...

IMHO, u need both...
eg : doing a double lift....
misdirection, talk to them while getting a break...however, u need the speed of getting the pinky break as well or else u would need to misdirect them for a long time...
hehe

WELL, i dunno much on this matter, all i knew i was always scolded by my cousin last time when i started difficult sleight.
he oways scold...MUN MUN LEI AH..............
then he mumbled some more and say, slower...slower...
u see, my opinion is tat if u ask a laymen, wat did ur fren just did??
o...my god... i was impress, his hand are realy fast......
tis shows tat it leaves an impression in laymen mind tat u are an artist with good hands...
but if it is done deliberately,,,it is called CREATING MAGIC. not just some impressive finger stunt..
its already well known the fact tat ASIAN love show of hands.. meaning those ZIP ZIP ZIP ZAPZAP ZAP kinda stuff
u see master SHIMADA, his back palm singly production.....ZipZipZipZipZipZIpZip
its not as magic as wat it is, its impressive. WALAO EH!! SO FAST WO.... GENG AR!!!
see kuai lou do the similar sleight mention just now, they rotate a smaller circle and produce, it goes like, tweetPOP tweetPOP tweetPOP.
christopher hart i agree he do fast, (ntv7 last time) but the way he fast is much more magical than shimada..coz as some of u says, SMOOOOTH.............
christopher hart did it smoothly and POPPING rythmically..
ermmm....i guess tats all i can say... lo.
by the way, juz extra info here, i still practicing to do asher twist slowly....(i only can do fast)the nature of the sleight is cumbersome to me
anyone have any pointers??

Hi folks,
Just my humble opinion only guys, I think for spectator, perform slow and steady it's the best as they have no reason say that "ho.ho..ho, you are going too fast" that kind of phrase. ^_^
If you perform slow and they feel astonish or surprise, then you have done your good job already. :P
