Description: great.... one of my favs
Brendan Low - February 24, 2005 10:27 AM (GMT)
I think they make great vids. They were my first bunch of vids, those that got me seriously onto magic especially with cards. Crash course 1 and 2 are really good for beginners. Street magic and inside magic is also v good. Ninja 1 and 2 for more advance people. All great stuff. Brad is a great teacher of magic. So if you are thinking of taking up magic, these are the vids for u. i highly recommend them. I enjoy doing the magic i learnt from them.

to be really honest dude, lets hope tat i`m not hurting anybody here...
BRAD CHRISTIAN IS NOTHING BUT A REAL GOOD SALES MEN..
THOSE WHO AGREE ME POST MORE OF UR OPINION HERE...
if u are a serious magic beginner, buy books by famed expert instead..
tat really build u a strong foundation.
got to kinokuniya and ORDER from them....these titles:
peter eldin pocket book of magic or mysterious book of magic..
THIS BOOK REALLY SHAPE OUT A MAGICIANS ATTITUDE..it publish not just secrets. but guide for newbies to learn, encounter and behave like a magician,,
TIPS ON PUTTING ON A GOOD SHOW AND SHOWMANSHIP IS IN TIS BOOK ALSO.
lets not forget the famous OSBORNE BOOKS. get all magic book by osborne publishing, they too not just provide secrets..
also try to find a book titled, ILLUSION ILLUSTRATED...
its a book tat provide DETAILED description on effect, APPARATUS,secret, PERFORMANCE SEQUENCE, even detailed suggested patterline...tis is very important, because learning patterline from a book can make a person think and invent own patterline instead ACCIDENTLY copy a patterline from a video, COZ WE CANNOT IGNORE THE POWER OF AUDIO VISUAL!!
if u can really able to perform a few tricks(notice i say perform!, not just do it!)
and make ur frens knew u are a magician and wanting for more of ur magic tricks..
then go on for masters teaching video such as McBride, Daryl, Paul Cummin, David Stone... And so on....
BUT NOT BRAD CHRISTIAN STUFF, they are not solid material vids.
unless u wanna learn how to sell ur magic like him then i agree u guys to waste ur money on it....
ChongWei - February 25, 2005 06:09 AM (GMT)
brad christian.. well, i think he's good.. at least good enough for me... but i think he's more like a business man... a business man who tryimg to make own product (viper, black deck) / polished others trick and re-sell...
Eugie, thanks for the book title.. i might get one of those when i'm there... but the thing is, most of the people i knew, they treat magic as some hobby that they can do when they're boring, or to make people happy. invest those money in getting those book by "famed expert" sometimes can be real costly, and penguin/ellu is providing "jualan hebat" those kinda magic trick for the lower level market (youngster, student whose parents is NOT rich)...
Its just the different type of learner gettig different type of material as a start.. I myself start from penguin vids.. hehe...
and.. i dun like brad's make up.. ROTFLOL

Hi folks,
Depend how you guys look at it. ;)
IMO, I think he is great and his materials are awesome whether for beginners, intermediate magician, etc.
The vids are excellent!
Yes, if you are selling your own products, I think many people will use many kind of means to marketing your products and I think it's preety normal.
I think the most important criteria is the MATERIALS' QUALITY.
In my magical learning journey, I came across some magicians use LOTS of sleights to achieve their effects. :o - As Dai Vernon said if you use lots of sleights in your repetoire, at the end your trick will become WEAK.
IMO, I think effect that is very easy to perform and has HIGH IMPACT on the spectators and magicians, I consider this effect alone is AWESOME!
Best Wishes,
Andrew Loh

I have some of Brad Christian's videos - street magic, inside magic and ninjas 1 & 2.
I like his stuff and I think he is a great performer but I don't think he is a good teacher. I purchased with hard earned money I am quite disappointed as it is hard to see clearly many of his moves (and these are a teaching videos)
He sometimes give examples etc without demonstarring which is to me unprofessional (Like when teaching a sponge ball routine) but says things like "if I had a extra large ball, this is how I would do it ... butI don't haveone with me here."
This is terrible as since he brought it up, surely it would not be too much trouble to stop the tape, go get a ball and retape the sequence!
I bought ninja 1 on the assumption that it was the basics (as advertised) but I get a lot of comments about not having time to go through slowly (wasting more precious time) etc.
It's good stuff - but my ninja series is collecting dust as I can't follow the lessons!

Hi Paulmagic,
Yeah! Selecting and purchasing of your products are some sort of like your valuable investment. It's very disappointing if you invest in the wrong or not really quality materials.
I experienced that before which the contents of the products were so convincing, but after purchasing it, it was not really good as you perceived.
I learn from experience that it's better to read more GENUINE reviews and check out the contents.
Or you can ask those fellow that has purchased those materials and kindly consult their opinions or comments about the products so that you will most likely minimise the purchasing of wrong materials.
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Andrew

I am wiser now :) about purchase. Now that I have discovered some good magic forums, I can ask for opinions as you wisely suggested.
To make sure I am not misunderstood, I have had no problems with ellusionist's service.
I think the Ninja series would only be helpful if I am already pretty proficient with the basic card sleights. it's more like an add on than a teach you step by step video.
Would love to sell mine off (they are originals not pirated) and reinvest in something else as my budget is very tight.

Hmmm... never thought of actually selling it here. That's actually a good idea. Thanks.
The format is in real player video (ie viewed via the PC)
I got them on 2 CDs (not the downloaded version). I checked and see that they are selling for US 79.90. (without postage)
It would be great if I can sell it at that price. Make me an offer :-) I don't mind I suppose making a bit of a loss.

KenophLai - March 16, 2005 06:19 AM (GMT)
i tink books are better..the sleights and passes in ninja 1 and 2 are all wery common sleight which u can learn from most of the card magicians~~
i like the street magic video...it is cool

Don't feel like starting up another huge post about my views on ellusionist, so... yes and no. Ellusionist stuff is good for beginners, but you KNOW there are better sources out there. Also, because of the over-commericiality of the former, if I had to start all over again, I'd most definitely go with the latter. Every single time.
