Well, i'm guessing when u said open a 'new' shop that u already have experience opening a shop already?

Muhd Hilmi - May 18, 2007 12:54 PM (GMT)
Jan,not sure where and when yet.Hahaha

Well........... think about it. Are u gonna be committed to selling magic items? And what's your objective? Do you have the time, seeing you're still schooling and all that. And most importantly, do you know the required amount of knowledge about magic items, their uses?

Just my 2 cents.

Happy day!

Haha.. may I know how old are you?? Its good to think of starting business since small... =)

well, in my opinion, if you wanna open shop outside, you need license right?? correct me if I am wrong.. and plus the rental..

Will you cover up all those costs? and not many people interested into magic..

Just my 2 cents too.. hehee...

I have also been thinking of opening a magic store.. but its online.. and because I am in UK now the postage system is so convenience where you can just print out the stamp through online..

and yet.. have to think of our competitive.. there are so many magic shops out there and some are whole seller.. kinda hard to beat them :0

You are "underaged" as you put it to get a "magic gig" and you want to open a magic shop?
Not to throw cold water on your enthusiasm but you need to be realistic. Baby steps ...

Jennifer - May 30, 2007 02:10 AM (GMT)
Oh well, first step i guess is to think big? And then take baby steps into achieving that big dream.

There's a lot to factor in, if you're genuinely interested in opening a magic shop.

For one, the niche industry has been developed such that your target buyers all already have their own sources to magic supplies. So, if you DO decide to open a magic shop, I'm guessing, your competition will not be magic-I, magic-ring, etc. They're going to be the cheapest of the cheapest online magic retailers.

For another, sites such as ellusionist, murphy, etc. They probably would give you their "official" dealer prices if you go through the process and finally end up with the products on hand, but as a student, sadly, we're always broke. It's going to be pretty hard to front the capital to start up.

Of course, as other's have mentioned, there's the thought of a law preventing you from igniting your dream just yet.

Put it this way, a business is a business. The general idea is to build 2 things, (1)profit and (2)relationships. You can't have a business without either one. Agreed? So, thinking big is not always the optimum thing to do. Think realistically. I'm not saying it's not possible to open one if you're a fresh high school graduate who just celebrated your 18th birthday(hypothetically speaking). Just think it through.

P.S. I'm not here to step on anyone's dream. I just don't want anyone to waste the time, money and effort when the time could've been spent pursuing greater dreams.

We have one here.. we just have one. It's as big as a pharmacy kiosk.. well.. smaller than that. The owner invested BND10,000 (approximately equivalent to RM20,000) before they even run it.

That is something to be taken into consideration.

But why not? You are still young and you are already thinking about something big. Not a bad start! :D If you really want to achieve this, you've got to make a mindset and objectives. I am sure you will be able to reach your wants one day!

Good luck.
