Title: Another Use For Fire Wallet
xron - June 13, 2007 02:08 AM (GMT)
Thought I’d share this with you guys out there.
Went out playing futsal with my mates and showing them my newly bought fire wallet from the Festival of Magic Asia 2007. After a tiring session, went back only to find myself cramp towards the end of the lift heading up to my apartment. Anyway, when reached my floor, I politely said ‘excuse me’. Nobody budge. Again, this time much louder ‘EXCUSE ME’. Few souls move a little but still I couldn’t get out(was carrying my bag). Finally, since I was holding the fire wallet in my hand, I decided to light it up. Man, you should see all the expression on their faces. Least to say, I got a clear path out after that.
Great invention!!
Cheers,
Xron

Hey, I was dead tired after 2 gruelling hours of play, not to mention all the standing I had during the Festival of Magic for 3 days. Old man needs more time to recover!!!!
BTW, there's no smoke alarm in my apartment's lift! HEHEHE!!

my wallet doesnt work most of the time
embarassed me at some stores when i wanna pay money

Maybe didnt put enough lighter fluid?
xron, do you mind give some tips on the ideal amount to put?
Christopher Ng - June 13, 2007 04:16 PM (GMT)
nop
the fluid is totally full
i can use a match to light the wallet
but not the starter
i dont know why, even how hard i strike until i cut my finger, it cant light
mayeb one in a million time, after i refill the thing kao kao only it will light

Chris you are using the one that from Tito?I had problems with my fire wallet last time but since i bought mine from Tito everythings works well for me. I jus put full fluid on both sides then sure can last at least 5 hours. A pointer to make sure that you will like the fire is that open a little bit of your wallet then strike it with your finger not your thumb. Thats what Kris thought me ;) and it works fine for me.

hi how much the fire wallet cause? it looks cool n i wanna buy! :ph43r:
Christopher Ng - June 13, 2007 04:47 PM (GMT)
It's 35 usd for plastic one and 45 usd for leather one
if you want, i can order from him, definately cheaper n better quality from the rest
It was claimed to be the best fire wallet from sucahyo..haha
mine, even i fill until the fluid overflood, it is hard to light , it can be lit, but hard
i strike 20 trimes maybe one time strike
but after the first strike successful ,the following few strikes will be successful too
after sometime, like 4~5, it cant be lit again
i think it is because my firestone or what
my fluid n fabric etc, al completely okay.........

I bought mine from Tito at the Festival of Magic. Works fine. Maybe it's still new, I guess. As to how much fluid to put in, that will depend on how big the fire you want. I normally put enough to just wet the 2 sides. Also, I normally put a little bit more towards the starter. That's what Tito taught me.
Agreed with szehow that before you strike the fire is to have the 2 sides as close as possible. This way, it's easier to get fire onto both sides. Otherwise, if you open too big before striking, only one side might just light up.
I know that Magic Ring and Magic Club is selling the fire wallet. Price should be around 100++. As for quality wise, I'm not too sure. I remember reading some post in the forum that someone bought it and it didn't worked too well.
The other thing to look out when buying is that on the place where you place the fluid, it should have some sort of cover around it. This way, the fluid won't dry so fast. Mine normally last 4-5 hours.
Striking tips is to do a longer pull. It's not like where you normally light up a normal lighter. I usually put the starter slightly more than halfway on my index finger before lighting. This way will generate more sparks to light up the wallet. I also use my middle finger to standby, in case my first strike with my index finger does not work. It isn't nice to do a double strike with the same finger. I feel that gives the surprise away. And if that doesn't work, I'll just take out my cash or card and treat as nothing has happen.
Another tips is that before using the wallet, if you have the opportunity, go somewhere discreet 5 minutes before and do 1-2 warm up lighting. This way, you will have the wallet ready warm up when you want to use it. Much, much easier to light it when it's been lit up beforehand.
As to the reason for the wallet not working properly, I believe it should be the stone. When you strike it, sparks should fly. The bigger the better. Perhaps you should change the stone or do some tweaking to the starter for better results. Can't really give comments without looking at it.
Anyway, these are my experiences with my fire wallet. Hope it helps.

Another problem is that it might be due to too much lighter fluid being put.
As was said earlier, it is also better to put more closer to the flint so when the sparks fly there is some gas there. It actually works using the vapour from the liquid, or so I was told, so to keep it usable as long as possible don't keep opening it.
I am using a fire wallet I bought from David Stone, cost me around RM140, it's the best thing I have bought as it is used as a card to wallet as well. The reaction from the fire wallet, then the card to wallet, priceless! My best trick ever haha. That is pure magic.
Christopher Ng - June 15, 2007 01:29 PM (GMT)
My problem is the fire stone
the spark not enough to light up the thing, it can be done a little easier after warming up the lighter
So i gonna change the stone and also wallet as well
Another problem is fluid, if you over put it, it wont light, coz the firestone is wet
so , try not to let the fluid goes into the stone
anyway, tried out firewallet + hummer card in genting, so.... ''grin''.haha

Card to wallet anywhere for sale?
Christopher Ng - June 27, 2007 12:20 PM (GMT)
Just wanna ask a questions
I believe that 99% of the time when we show our fire from wallet, the spectator will request us to do it again
so is it alright for us to light up the wallet again?
Having the risk that they might hear some 'sound' ?
VincentP - June 28, 2007 06:59 AM (GMT)
It will really depend on the setting, whether it is quiet or noisy.
Also, if you are afraid they might hear it, try to talk while doing it too. E.g. "You mean this?" (talk while lighting it)
Hope this helps.
Christopher Ng - June 28, 2007 06:45 PM (GMT)
Yea thanks
because normally i will flash the wallet first time without their notice, giving them a suprise
then the next time they request, i pretend to reject, say no more power, then suddenly flash again.haha
I've come up with some great routines with firewallet, hoping to experiment them in coming future :)
