Title: Assistance For Left-hander
Description: how?

Christopher Ng - June 18, 2007 04:58 PM (GMT)
Hello peeps!

Anyone knows any programmes can mirror image the videos so it will be easier for left handers to learn certain sleights or flourishes??

I am right handed, but, strange thing happened to me, i perform my magics in the left hander way,i do mechanics grib in right hand, deal with left hand, etc but i felt more comfortable doing back P*lm, certain flourish with my right hand

Is there any particular sleights or moves that will be difficult/ impossible for left handers?
all the cards design are meant for right handers because the numbers are printed at the top-left of the card. people will feel more difficult to see the numbers if a left hander is performing le-paul spread.. :P

Just wan to know more abt what left handers should do .haha

Hello Chris... I am a left hander and so far I have not found any problem with me doin magic... ... only thing is that sometime I use my right hand instead of my left for some tricks... maybe because I started practicing with my right hand... anyway I think with practice we can use both hands.

Im a lefty too...

Disadvantage
Yeah Lepaul spread is a bummer for us coz they dont see the nice spread of pips. So yeah... just do it with the back of the cards facing up.

The other thing is we can do the "take a peep and remember a card", you know the one u hold the deck vertically and use ya index finger of the other can to riffle up the deck and ask spec to say stop. Spec only get to see the pip side (for right handers), but lefty's lol... they see blank. But yeah there are other ways to get spec to say stop and remember a card.

Advantage
Card magic made better for lefty.... >_> Asher Twist.... :)
Pros that are lefty:
Lee Asher
Bill Malone

And these guys are like super skilful cardicians... so yeah.. being lefty of righty... doesnt really disadvantage u.

Play with it.. u might find out something useful... being a lefty... ill let u experiment with it.. :P

Lol, to clarify, i am right dominant but i perform magic like a lefty..
haha
thats a problem because my right hand sometimes do smth better :P
Anyway, everything can be overcome

Haha, regarding the lepaul spread, no wonder my friends always show the stunt look when i spread the cards lifted up to their face n ask them to choose one card. maybe because they saw all blank cards..haha
Who can customize a deck with the pips on the top right???? !! haha

Why is asher twist better for lefty??

Brendan Low - June 19, 2007 09:34 AM (GMT)
Yeah.. it looks better when a lefty does it..

The pips is shown coz we reverse spread the cards....

However, asher twist is more abt cards magically turning over. Whether u see the pip or not doesnt really matter.

Its an awesome card trick :). Looks vv magical when done well..

i was born left handed...but my mum didnt like the idea of it so i was converted :s haha random facts but yes...i think Brendan summed it up in his post. i have a right handed friend who performs magic like he was left handed...right hand mechanics grip..doesnt really bother him...

i think Lee Asher's pulp friction might be an added advantage for Lefty's...thats just my assumption.

It kind of take a while to get used to learning magic from books, lefty's need to do everything the opposite way.

"Grab the coin with the right hand and throw it into the left" .. and we have to do everything the other way, it can get quite confusing at times ._.

However I got used to doing things the other way round after a while. Like Brendan said, doing LePaul spread and all it comes out blank instead of pips showing out T_T, lefty's also have their advantages though, like the effect where you fan out and show the whole deck blank, then fan it again and reveal that all pips are back, lefty's perform it with less effort and much easier to do =D

Overall I find it fun to perform magic with my left hand, it enables me to change and modify certain moves so that it would fit left handed people like me.

Shoot Ogawa is a lefty too. :P

There is a superb effect in his Shoot in Hollywood DVD that can only be performed by lefty.

Wow, serious
haha...hail to lefties!

Brendan Low - July 2, 2007 07:21 AM (GMT)
Ah yeah.. how could I forget abt Shoot haha...

I'm a lefty but I hold/perform like a righty.

My girlfriend is right handed but she can only hold the cards lefty.

Things are pretty messed up.

Put a mirror near the TV, and watch it thru the mirror.. Righty then...

I'm a lefty too, I just follow along the tricks like a righty. I think it doesn't really matter. My Charlier Cut is better in my right hand because I practice more in my right hand. Go figure.

Cheers

Fahmi
