Which do u normally use? which do you prefer and why?
Which do you find easier to handle for magic? Why?Im sure you have played with both bridge and poker size cards before. How do you find them?

Hi MagicB,
I would say POKER size.
In Malaysia, I know it's not impressive to use US Poker cards as our local spec will say, "Why not use local playng cards and perform?". :(
However, if you think use local cards to perform card magic, think again!
If next time you go to US or UK attending lecture or convention, if your friends there hand you their US Poker cards, then you are in trouble. As you are not used to handle their cards which quite slippery.
For all the years I perform card magic, I'm still think US Poker cards are the BEST.
Local cards which costs RM2 to RM3 which is cheap but the cards are stiff, difficult to perform card sleights like Passes, false count, Riffle Shuffle, false shuffle (Zarrow Shuffle), Faro, spreading the cards on the table, etc.
Bridge size is more smaller for small hands magician. They can use this playing cards in their work like execute passes, etc.
Hope this helps!
Best Wishes,

I dunno, but I myself think, most of the magician will stick to the USPC product... its about the quality... i dun think those rummy card 001 - RM1.60 can do some of the sleight.. at least i cant with those card...
I only used Bee,Bike,Tally.. and personally like bike than other.. maybe cos thats the FIRST deck of USPC deck i opened.. hehe... btw, anyone into colelcting deck of card? ofcos, other than u.. magicB!! haha!

Yeah, Poker size are great. I have small hands and always tot that i will be only using bridge size... well that was wat i started with. but latere switch to USPC poker sized cards and love them to the max. Nothin beats good quality cards. ur confidence also builds up.. and u feel more pro when using USPC cards.
I use Bikes (riders) for magic and for flourishes i use League bikes and tally ho and at times alladins. My black decks already opened but stilll in box... they for collection.
Im waiting for 2nd ed vipers to come out. :) B)

Hi folks,
Haha! That's a knack and frustrating of using local made cards. Local cards suitable for uncles and aunties gambling only. Heehee......... :P
I love to collect deck of cards but at the end, I use them up coz sometimes have to use new deck to give the impressions to specs that we are clean and professional.
Best,

haha... im waiting for my leagues to wear off a bit more and then i can open up my circle back tallys. im sure they'll rock. i usually change my card or open up a new deck every 1-2months.
if need show magic, i prob open up once every 1 month. U can still flourish with older cards hehe.. just add some fanning powder and it just works miricles.

I'd say stick to whatever deck the community you perform for is most aqquainted with. That way, less suspicion will be aroused when you perform, as the cards are of a brand that they trust. I mean, how often have we used a deck of bikes and have people suspect a trick deck? I can't blame them; bicycles are the core cards that gimmicks are manufactured on :D However, if the cards that people are most familiar with in your area are so shitty that they crumble on touch, stick to a USPCC brand. I'm so glad the mainlu used cards here in Singapore are Aladdin's ;)
And yeah: to quote Lonnie Dillan, "Bride-sized cards are for pussies and smurfs!"

I prefer USPCC's Aladdins. I have been using one deck for 2 years and although the box is kinda rotten, I feel it wasting to open another one unless I use it for a party show or anything...
Dont get me wrong, its not that I dont have playing cards (I am a collector of Bikes and USPCC cards) but I just dont like the idea of opening a new deck everytime I start a trick. I open one for practice, and one for public show... ;) So far, my collection of cards comprise of the BTDs, limited edition Bikes and standard bikes.
What type of aladdin cards are sold at your places? My place here sells gilded edges ones...(golden edges) for RM 16.00 each....
One playing card I recommend is the Astar decks(gambling no border decks). These are quite cheap and although they are already quite cheap by itself, there are still counterfeits of the cheap deck! I couldn't believe this situation would happen...I bought an Astar deck last year and found it quite durable and quite tough... Then, a few months later, I saw another shop selling Astar decks...I quickly bought like 5 decks....When I opened them, the quality of the material was really different! It feels like comparing Original Bees with the cheapos sold at the night market! That far! and the box was also made out of totally different materials.... either the company ran out of paper and used toilet papers instead... or some freak out there really loves Astar decks till they hafta counterfeit it... I just dont get it...
