What is the size of your rings..?

Victor Ng - July 12, 2007 10:04 AM (GMT)
erm. 8''.. this is the 1st linking rings i bought.. so i'm still not good in using it..just got it few days ago..

I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say the most recommended linking ring dvd(for close up/small rings) is Shoot Ogawa's Ninja Rings. When I started linking rings about a year and a half ago, that's what people recommended to me the most.

mmm dont buy ninja rings yet
Shoot is releasing a new set soon
an up to date version and improved teaching of his Ninja Rings routine
keep an eye out for that.

Victor Ng - July 12, 2007 01:33 PM (GMT)
erm, i'm looking for Dvd that teach Linking Rings.. not ninja rings..haha.. btw, is it okay for me to use the routine of ninja rings but i'm using linking rings instead of ninja rings... someone told me that Linking Rings(World Greatest Magic) is quite good.. any idea?

Sukyi - July 12, 2007 08:28 PM (GMT)
linking rings and ninja rings are essentially the same thing. apart from quality of product, they're the same. In a card language, it's like saying a "bicycle deck" and a "jaws deck" essentially the same thing, you do the same tricks and everything... BUT the quality is different!

8" rings might no be suitable for certain "Ninja" moves..

You can use Ninja moves on any of the smaller rings (4")..

Ninja = Mini rings.

Linking rings = Big Huge stage ring.

It is not the same.

The sleights are different.
Look the same but doesn't neccesary work the same way.

Yukiko - August 22, 2007 01:51 PM (GMT)
i'm learning Dai Vernon's one...

pretty nice=)

do you think of adding some other thing into the routine? because maybe it will be little bit bored if the audience watch link-unlink-link-unlink... i'm thinking of adding D'lite into the routine.. but haven get my D'lite yet..so i hope someone can suggest me what to add into the routine..

IMHO, Linking Ring is a piece of art by itself.
It is the classic of Magic and proven by time.

If it is a little boring, most probably is not on the rings but the performer.

Adding more stuff into it will just destroy the effect.

i dont think it would necessarily kill the effect. IF DONE RIGHT, anything can become a good routine. i dont know how dlites would work with the rings, but if you think it through, take your time with it it can work..
