Title: Fanning Decks Anyone?

Sukyi - July 18, 2007 06:35 PM (GMT)
I think, so far, I'm the most obsessed with card fans amongst the cardicians here.

Today, I got a disney deck. Turns out to be really nice to fan/giant fan. The colors look so vibrant and pretty.(PM me for pictures!) Can be used as a good fanning deck and I personally feel it fans better than your average bike.

Was thinking of getting a Dragon deck too, but I'm not too sure about it. I mean, I AM obsessed with fans, but a Dragon deck maybe over doing it?

What do you guys think? Fanning decks... worth it or not? Bare in mind, I DO collect cards!

Agree with you. The first floorish I learn - FAN THE DECK :!!:

Sukyi - July 21, 2007 12:15 PM (GMT)
I haven't seen Winnie the Pooh decks, but I'm SURE they're around! ;)

Archie - July 23, 2007 01:08 PM (GMT)
Why don't you try the fanning deck that there's a dragon on the face of the card when you fan it out since you want them for collection. Saw it somewhere on the net...

Yeah, that's the Dragon Deck I was referring to.

I'm still not sure. Although, I've paid a lot for some of my decks, I don't know if I should pay that much for a dragon deck. I know I'm a flourisher and I my strength in flourishing is my fans, but I still think the Dragon deck is a little steep. I mean, I haven't even bought a Joe Porper card clip yet.

What to do? What to do?

I have the Dragon Fanning deck.

I bought it when it was first released like 2-3 yrs ago. To be frank I hardly pray with it...

But it is pretty nice though....

Long cards... hehe....

Btw, I paid SG60 for that. Im not sure how much they are worth today. Prob cheaper... not sure.

Perhaps Isaac would know.

Sukyi - July 26, 2007 06:20 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I was thinking about that too! I know if I buy it, I'll play with it a few times and take a few pictures... then it's to the shelf!... and then I realized that I've done that with a LOT of decks. So what is one more? I don't know. Price still seems a little steep for a collectors deck. It's not like it's Jerry's, ya know? Still something I need to think a little more about, before investing. (I get the feeling that I will end up buying it sooner or later).

Someone, Jen I think, told me that manipulation cards are different from our usual poker cards? Is that true? If so, how?

And what's the difference in this deck you're buying compared to bikes? Your disney deck looks like it's madefor laypeople, not really flourishers/magicians?

Jeremy Soon - July 27, 2007 03:12 AM (GMT)
Most magicians use Bee deck to do card manipulation, escpcially for those who have bigger hands.

However, there are are several types of manipulation cards that are in the market. Most of the manipulation cards have skin color (brownish) as the back of the cards. There are also other color of card manipulation deck such as white, pink, black, etc. And the cards are smaller compared to a poker size deck. Manipulation deck is similar to the size of bridge size deck.

Some distinction of manipulations decks compared to normal decks (bikes, tallyhos) are they are more springly, soft as well as durable when you have broken into the cards. This enable magicians to do b***p**m, and card production a bit more easier. :)

For dragon fanning deck, the dragon that shows on the face of the deck is quite impressive indeed, however the colors on the back of the cards are not that vibrant, and there aren't much design or colors you can fan with the dragon fanning deck compared to an actual fanning deck where you can have up to 8 types of colors to be fan out from a single deck. As a whole, the dragon fanning is a nice addition your playing cards collection. :D

Dragon deck has the head and tail of the dragon when you open it. Can't actually do much apart from fanning it because it will mess up the order.(unless you want to do a million and one false cuts) So, it's not really for manipulation. Unlike the disney deck, this is strictly for flourishers/card collectors... not laymen. I dont think anyone would pay to play with something that could be used as a marked deck.

That's what it looks like.

*thinks to self* Maybe I should have posted those in the initial post that started this thread.

Thanks to both Jeremy and Sukyi for clarifying things for me ;)

I personnally prefer those deck with air flow finish. It fan perfectly well than any other deck. However it have to be handle with care as it is too slippery !

I don't think it does.

The disney deck doesn't have air cushion/flow finish and it fans better than your average bicycle. Not to mention the Black Tiger, Ghost, Viper, etc which all have UV 500. Air cushions are nice to fan with, but not the best. They're a little too slippery for my taste. Gets some parts more fanned out than others.

Then again, if we're talking about brand new decks, I like those that are a little cheaper. Like the Aviators or Studs. May be a little harder to find in Malaysia, but I like them. Of course, since they're cheaper, they probably wouldn't last as long.

My 2 cents.
