It was really amazing for me. To be honest my first mmf gathering after this many years with mmf. For the first time meeting the moderators. Thank you Isaac and his team for the planning and hosting this event.
Sukyi - August 4, 2007 07:17 PM (GMT)
It was... interesting to say the least.
- Samuel Chong's lecture was different from what you normally see. Loved it! (and by that I mean the lecture! if I was referring to Sam, I would have said "HIM")
- Performances weren't bad. Enjoyed the few that I paid attention to.
- 52(X3) pick-up with Brendan and Nadzri was something I'd never done before.
- Jamming with magicians is always fun!
- Dinner took a while, but I spent most of it with some primary/secondary school friends anyhow.
- After party was great! Got some good flourishing footage... and a lot of tools for blackmail ;) Haha. As the SMC members, David Lai and I said, after the Mini-Convention last year, "What happened at the club... stays at the club!" ;)
- Everyone, please don't start pickpocketing! IF you can't resist, please return anything you've taken! :P

| A question, what is MCG all about? |
Initially we were just a bunch of people who studied around the same area and met up everyday, just because we have a lot of time on our hands, it was convenient, and we enjoyed each other's company. We're all magicians and pretty much met through MMF. So, it was MMF's College Gang(MCG).
Naturally, hanging out so much, we just became a group of really close friends. Of course, we realized that we can't really call ourselves "MMF's College Gang" because there are a lot of other college students in MMF... and we're all graduating(sooner or later). So we started coming up with a bunch of lame names... everything you can think of, but nothing suitable. Hence forth, we're still "MCG" that doesn't stand for anything now.

Definitely is great at wat he does... definitely a PRO! I didnt get to remember how to do everything he taught us.... haha but I remember the last trick.. haha... which I love a LOT. practice that trick many times last nite as well as this morning.... The other trick I like a lot was his Winter S trick with signature transfering to another card. These are my top fav ones.... I wish there were handouts of the methods to do it though.. cos i seriously cant remember the sequence. Lots of v nice tricks Sam did.... v nice coin trick and man the balloon trick.. VVVV nice... and Samuel's ballooning skills... wow... super damn fast and super damn nice.... v symmetrical and damn nice la... speechless already...
There's so much to say abt wat happened in and out of the lecture times..... willl write more abt it perhaps tomorrow or soemthing... super tired now.. wanna go to bed.....
ONce again BIG THANK YOU to Isaac and YUkiko for organising this wonderful event. BIG THANK YOU to Bui Yen (as the MC) and MTR for having us. And also a BIG THANK YOU to Sze Howe for his patience in sending people such as me home... to a place end of USJ21 and SA26. LOL....

Was my first time attending a magicians' gathering yesterday.
What can I say, absolutely GREAT! Great teacher, Great members & Great event, it's more than what we've paid for. Great job Issac!
It was definitely an eye opener for me to meet so many Cardists & Card Flourishers! Teacher was really professional and fine with the art that he mastered!
Hope we will have more meet ups in the future. Very nice meeting you all in person, all the MMF members. Keep in touch. Will see you again!
May the magical force be with You!

Ermm.. That saturday morning I was stuck in KTM for a good 50 minutes- The train ain't movin ! I was to reach SUBANG LRT but ended up taking a cab from Bandar Tasik Selatan to Sunway Piramid at 10.45am. I reached my destination just in time;however not many people were there yet. I subsequently went to grab a seat after Isaac gave me a 2b pensil :!!: . Inside the restaurant I met many new friends- Duo Lun,Hilmi,..... I also met some old friend friends - Sukyi,Brendan,Jeff...
During the lecturing time, I was mesmerised with Samuel's teaching. Instead of trying to remember the routines he was performing,I was trying to learn his style of presentations, which he could make a single trick to last for >5 minutes after some addings of nice "lame" humors within. In a nutshell for his lecture, it was remarkable undeniable inevitably great.
For the members' performances, you guys did a great show. They were entertaining. I never thought the Micro Convention would be held over there. ( none reply me in the MicroCon performers' list topic ) . Anyway, I would like to also perform next time for the next gathering :!!:
Thanks to the organisers- Isaac and Yukiko for making this event possible.
Wuspert,
Jeremy Fu

Jeff Gan - August 6, 2007 09:32 AM (GMT)
I have a few things I wanna say :-
1) Thanks to Isaac and all who helped (the college gang)..you DA MAN!!! or WOMAN...(pick whichever appropriate)
2) To Brendan & Isaac, for pulling off the greatest stunt the world has ever seen, even better than what Blaine or Angel ever did, even better than vanishing the Statue of Liberty, ....making the MMF T-shirts. . You guys proved me wrong and made me eat my words. I am humbled. Awesome !
3) To the guys wearing those MMF Shirts, while its not my place to tell you what you can or cannot do, its your shirt but that's our collective name...so if you decide to go commit acts of global terrorism or burning, pillaging & plunder, take the shirt off first ya?
4) Samuel Chong, you DA MAN !! Was a really good lecture packed with useful information...but unfortunately I'm no card man. I never even heard of some of the sleights you mentioned, let alone know what they look like . I cant even do a DL :)
But I am sure all you cardists out there learned a lot of good stuff.
5) To MTR for letting us use the place, TERIMA KASSSSSEEEEYYYY!!!
(doing my best David Arumugam impersonation)
6) Upload your pictures to the MMF Photobucket folder. We'll use some of them for the blog.
7) Was great meeting all of you guys. Had a lot of fun.
szehowe - August 6, 2007 11:22 AM (GMT)
Come on guys lets post a long review about the convention
here's my review:-
Me and Nadzri went to Isaac's house to meet up with the rest of the gang. After that we proceed to pyramid was actually a bit late(usual malaysian timing). Had our breakfast at uncle lim, i had a really quick one because i need to take the attendance. Started with taking attendance and giving out the agenda to those ppl that attended the lecture. Bui Yen was our MC and he definately did a great job. The event started with opening speech by our moderators Brendan and Jeff Gan followed by our organiser Isaac.
Then its lecture time!Man, Samuel sleight of hand, misdirection, presentation and humour is crazy. We stopped at around 1pm to have our lunch break. Around 215pm we resume the 2nd part of our lecture. As usual Samuel showing his crazy stuff. After the lecture, its performance time! The few who performed is Ken, Me, Shon Chong, Nadzri, David Lai, Jeff Gan, Isaac, Sukyi, Jennifer, Brendan, Samuel Chin and Bui Yen.
We finish the convention with closing speech by Isaac thanking everyone that attended this lecture.
After we had our dinner in MTR some of us went over to a club in 1 utama. I'm not gonna elaborate what we done there. What happens at the club stays at the club :)
PS: I kena chicken pox :(
VincentP - August 6, 2007 12:03 PM (GMT)
Thank you Sze Howe! I've been waiting for that for a long time.
Anyway thanks again, and congrats to Isaac and the rest of the organisers. Wish I could have been there >.<
P.S. Added: Sorry to hear you got chicken pox. I got it Feb last year =.=
Muhd Hilmi - August 6, 2007 02:28 PM (GMT)

Brendan Low - August 6, 2007 03:08 PM (GMT)
Hey guys....
Im like uploading the pics in my camera to photobucket right now. That is where all MMF pics in the past been uploaded to. It may take sometime to upload as the pic sizes are huge. It may be wise to resize it first but i couldnt be bothered...
Anyway... it was good to meet new people in the fellowship. Somehow I wished we had more time for fellowship during the gathering.
DAY 1
U've heard how it was DURING the lecture/gathering....
Now...
What happened after the lecture....
Well... a few such as Sze Howe, Chris, Sukyi, Isaac, Shon Chong, Nadz, Samuel Chong and Edmund stayed for dinner at MTR.
We continued jamming until abt 9pm plus.... and then went clubbing (it took us a long while to reach that place though... lol). Isaac drank much that nite and he started performing to the group next to us..... they loved him so much... and soon... Chris, Myself, Nadz and Sze Howe also performed.
I love Nadz coin routine so much. It makes me wanna learn it so badly now man... David Stone eh? Must check this dude out man. The coin to the spectator handphone one was just amazing... loved it... Had a nice time session with everyone that nite. haha... Nadz and I were like practicing our Jones change much that nite. I managed to perform the Samuel's Cannibal trick that nite to Sukyi's fren. It was good... Man... so many funny and hilarious moments that nite.... haha. Isaac walked funny when we left the club 3am +. Hmmm.. ROFL... at that time I was also "kong-ing" out d man.... damn tired...
One whole day of Cards made me crazy...
Slept abt 4am+ after showering....
Day 2
Woke up 8am... (body alarm)... woke up and then slept again back... 9.30am woke up and couldnt sleep d.... still felt tired....
10am got out of bed and took my cards and started practicing the Cannibals again....
10.30am... ate fried bee hun... aunty cooked.. Yummy...
11am.. watched astro...
1.00pm when to the Curve to meet the gang... (Sze Howe picked me up from Piramid.... cheers).
Sukyi got me a disney fanning deck. Thanks :)
Went for Makan.. japs food.. food was nice.. :).. v filling though... had the beef set. Loved it. Was pretty ful after that...
Next... was Jam time..
We were throwing cards everywhere.... boomerang cards everywhere.. card throwing etc etc.....
Then we found an empty spot... we sat and began flourishing....
Video times... was hilarious... we kept messing up.... hehee especially me.. ROFL...
Anyway... reached home (melaka) abt 8.30pm.
Some footage will be out soon.... gimme like a good month or so to get the vids off people and get the editing done...
Cheers,
Brendan

2) Is my lecture inspiring..? Did I inspire you the way you look at magic..? Or coming out with new ideas, routiens & sleight..?
3) Are my routines practical for you..?
4) Are my routines easy to learn..?
5) Will you perform them..?
6) Which are the routines that you guys like most..?
7) Which are the routines that are most entertaining..?
8) Which are the routines that have the potential for you to them into your repertoire..?
I designed those routine to suit my own style, humor (lame) and my level of skills...
Hence, you guys might need to modify them a bit in order to suit your taste.
simonskp - August 7, 2007 06:17 AM (GMT)
Samuel for all the tricks that you have shared with us .. the trick that i like most is Cigarette & Lighter as it has a suprise ending that i did not expect... as for the cards tricks... you have inspire me to learn more card sleights and to come out with my own routine. I will be going through my books and Cd's again after this... your method of teaching is very entertaining and educational as well... another card trick that i really like is the one where we tried to play "chor tai ti" and you had the winning hand after all that shuffle and deal .. i did not see that coming...
all in all your lecture was really an eye opener for me.

Using Psychological Subtle Suggestions will do. However, it will not work on everyone.
Derren Brown is a superb example, and a master of Psychological Subtleties.
I myself, find it pretty tough to perform it on Asians as they don't tend to follow directions as good as Western peoples.
I must say, experience is all that it takes. Good luck~!

Thanks to Isaac for allowing my daughter to come in and teaching her to play drums!!!
Wish I had more time with you guys but I'm sure there will be more gatherings to come.
Was great also to finally meet some of you guys there.
Brenden,
I had a good laugh watching my daughter and my wife fighting over the T-shirt later that evening. I was wearing one and my daughter wanted the other which my wife had put on. In the end, we had to go shopping to get her a black shirt.
Should have bought another MMF shirt, though it would have been a bit big!!! :D
