Title: Ctb Effects
Description: And my obsession over it
David Loh - September 19, 2007 10:34 AM (GMT)
I usually don't perform magic to anyone since my intrest in magic
mostly lies in coming up new effects, methods, or just trying to improve
on the ones that exists.
Not too long ago, I've came up with my own CTB effect.
- Impromptu
- Borrowed empty bottle
- Signed coin ( and only one coin used )
- Hands clean before and after the effect
- Bottle is capped
- No sleights
Its a simple secret behind it.. almost exposure if you were to see it. yet
when i test it out on lay people. It fries them badly.
Now comes a new mission for me. Its been countless nights looking
at a sealed bottle and one coin. Perhalps someday I can find out a way
to slap a signed coin larger than the bottle neck into a sealed bottle.
Impromptu, borrowed on the spot. Reality check -> impossible.
But maybe someday.
With that aside, anyone has information on the upcoming Factory Sealed
by Nick Verna? Is that impromptu coin into sealed bottle?

I perform the same routine as you said a few years ago
but then nowadays I perform another version that I taught
in my lecture more...

That sounds great! Maybe you can post a demo video of your CTB?

Up till now we don't have any confirmed information about Nick Verna's Factory Sealed. All we have is 50plus pages of hype and speculation in the E's forum. The only thing we know is that Ellusionist is going to release it next.

That would be the best CTB ever created.
My Sealed & Stuck is a coin through factory sealed bottle effect
1) Clean display of the bottle
2) No label
2) Bottle is factory sealed
3) Coin is bigger than neck of bottle
4) Coin and bottle are separate objects prior to the penetration.
5) Able to show your hand empty right after you visually melt the coin through the bottle.
6) Visual Penetration
7) Combinable with a signed coin
Here's the demo video of Sealed & Stuck
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4VI3vJCm-w I haven seen anything that can match the above description. I have seen a lot of CTB effects, and I cannot find something that look as impossible as Sealed & Stuck.
Good luck with your own CTB effect! =)

If you search for the performance video of Sealed In, you can see the difference between my effect and Alex's effect.
For Sealed In, it is a fast penetration effect where the coin strikes the bottle and appear inside it.
For Sealed & Stuck, the coin melts through the bottle slowly and sinks to the bottom.
For Alex Ward's Sealed In, I don't think the effect is visual enough. The coin just strikes the bottle and appears inside it, and in my opinion that defeats the purpose of melting a coin through a transparent bottle. I want the audiences to see the coin penetrates the transparent bottle slowly and watch the coin sinks to the bottom.
The only similarity between Alex's effect and my effect would be that both of us are using factory sealed bottles.
If you like fast penetrations go for Alex Ward's Sealed In.
If you like slow melting penetrations, try Sealed & Stuck.
I have spoken with Alex Ward, he is a nice gentleman. He is respectful of my effect even though we are selling competing products. :)

Ace: Yeah I saw your effect quite some time ago and I have to say its
real amazing. Can't really understand why people are bashing your effect
on some forums though. Hand or no hand covering the bottle, simply
having the coin on your hand one moment and the next, in the bottle is
truly astounding.
I'm not sure, but as far as i have read on ellusionist's Factory Sealed,
it said nothing about being impromptu.
As for the CTB effect I do, I can't post a video online as a little misdirection
is needed. So its going to be exposure for anyone who sees it.
On the side, I'm also obsessing on Bad Habit by Daniel Garcia. Instead of
slapping the coin into the box plastic... I actually got it to look as if i slowly
rub the coin in, but the handling is now like hell. Gotta work on it.
OMG i have to stop obsessing about object into enclosed space effects.

I can understand why they are bashing my effect. It is always the same 1 or 2 people that are bashing my effect. I don't think that it is a coincidence that those 1 or 2 happen to be supporters or creators of other CTB effects. B)
Just read the thread on the Magic Cafe and you can see they will try their best to make the effect look bad. The "hand covering bottle" comment is hilarious. They finally agreed that my hand did not cover the penetration after I showed them the picture and photos. ;)
The reviews of Sealed & Stuck are great and that meant a lot to me. I spent a lot of time and effort on these CTBs. I'm glad that those who purchased it like the CTBs. Hope you guys will enjoy performing them as much as I do. :)

It's ok! Glad to know you blown some layman away with your CTB. Keep up the good work! :)
