Title: Dvds/books U Learnt Most Stuff From
Eric Liew - May 3, 2005 05:37 PM (GMT)
Hey there..
What are the DVDs or books that you learnt most tricks out from and perform it regularly?
Not your favourite DVD coz you enjoy the performance, or got fooled by them, or in awe of their skills...but DVDs/books which contain tricks where you actually learnt and perform them to lay people

Hi folks,
I would say:
1. Effortless Card Magic - Peter Duffie
2. CardZones - Jerry Sadowitz & Peter Duffie
3. Las Vegas Kardma - Allan Ackerman
4. Focus - Phil Goldstein
These 4 books' materials I perform the most whenever I have the chance. ^_^

I am reading Effortless Card Magic by Peter Duffie at the moment...
I must say that it is a good book indeed...
The methods, sleights, and principles in the book are really quite smart....
It's out of print unfortunately, but if u guys do see this book....it's worth getting in my opinion..:)

Haha Eric, thank goodness, my reviews were right. ^_^
Yes, Peter Duffie's stuffs I LOVE the most, his card magic does not require a lot of heavy sleights in this Effortless card magic book, yet the effects play big.
Recently I also enjoy Random Acts of Magic & Natural Selections 2 by David Acer. Awesome stuffs.
Also Steve Draun Secret's Draun From Underground book, a word of warning, this book is not suitable to beginners, unless you are willing to spend your money on this book and the stuffs in the meantime do not suits you. I would say difficult stuffs but the techniques and moves are worth to study and research.
Another book is worth getting is Ascanio Spread by Jon Racherbaumer, this is an awesome book, should own it in every magician's library.

Hey guys,
I am not really sure, correct me if I am wrong, I think magic Dummies is better than the Complete idiot's guid to magic tricks, what you guys think?
I don't have magic dummies, but a lot of ppl commented this book far more better than other magic books that sell in the bookshop.

Ive been true Effortless by Duffie...it shows clever applications and concepts from back to back.
Card fictions;hartling> two of my favourite tricks originate from here- and his two essays have enlightened me..
DMF,Bannon> best reads I've had..not that I've had much
Dave williamson; Magic farm> very inspirational and helpful if you ever think sleights are not your piece of meat...his performance and misdirection is second to none...wanna practice some sleights? take on his "cocktail Dazzler"
Flicking fingers> Entertaining to the max!!!
Sonata; tamariz> YahOO!!!
