Looks like criss angel is braver than I thought and he is clever too. That guy must be very angry and shame.

Jeff G - November 2, 2007 05:41 AM (GMT)
Criss is a limelight hogger. Even exposing effect names on TV in Episode 1. Plus he issued the challenge to Jim. Extremely bad form.

Challenging Geller is bad form. If he didn't like Geller's or Jim's claim, he shouldn't sign up for the show, not sign up and try to bust him.

Criss Angel uses tons of camera tricks and stooges (there, i've said it) all in the name of entertainment, but he is pissed off when others make claims (also for entertainment). Does Criss show mindfreak contain the line "this show uses camera tricks and paid actors as volunteers, and cannot be performed live in front of an audience?"

Totally agree when Jim Callahan called him a Ideological Bigot.

Adlan - November 2, 2007 12:39 PM (GMT)
Criss Angel is a jerk, a showboater and a hypocrite.

Jim Callahan's claims were maid in the context of a performance. He wasn't trying to con people out of money or doing the whole charlatan-y medium bit.

I am a skeptic myself, but what Criss Angel did was unprofessional and showed that he has more arrogance than maturity.

I pity Criss Angel fans who idolize this arrogant pr*ick.

yinhowe - November 3, 2007 04:35 AM (GMT)
Althought not an avid fan of Mindfreak personally, I have previously decided not to bash Criss Angel's magic because in a layperson's eyes Magic is Magic, regardless or method or camera effects.

I am not a fan of physic/contacting the dead/with aid of the spirit world effects either.

BUT, I agree with Callahan's statenment on this! What Angel did was no dfiferent than a heckler trying to expose a performer.

Is a TV show.

Erm, pre-plan?
Erm, create hype? As we know that the big sponsor behind the show is a very good hype creator.

I mean why Criss will carry an envelope in his pocket?
A big Conspiracy behind the big Controvesy :D :D

I wished Jim Callahan could stay in the competition for a few more rounds as it would be a real interesting showdown betweens those 2 guys.

First, Criss doesn't like people claim that they have psychic abilities and called themselves as Paranormalist, like Uri & Jim that both still did not confesed that they are just magicians until today. Even Banachek confesed that metal bendings, mind readings are just tricks and he too, believe that they are no psychics in the world.

On the other hand, Criss has claimed using camera tricks and stooges in his A&E Mindfreak Series and he do possessed supernatural power. A Disclaimer is stated in the beginning of each of his Mindfreak Series claiming that it's only an illusion if you have watch closely. Jim & Uri however insisted that they are different from the others and "REALLY" do possessed psychic and paranormal abilities that others don't.

Both Uri & Jim have strong willed and persistent that could only and really lead audience the wrong way. For example, I believe most of you, especially those who practise in mentalism know various method of psychokinetic silverware bending. Do you really think you can really bend them using your mind? Logically? They are just plain subtleties, sleight of hand & misdirection that we put in our presentations to make the audience believe that they are really bending with mind.

Derren Brown, also a famous mentalist has also claimed using psychology, subtleties, midirection and etc in his various TV series and too, do not possessed psychic abilities to read minds and etc. Therefore, the audience are not being lead into the wrong direction.

Criss was just trying to exposed them of fraud as they are obviously leading audiences in the wrong way. Even until before the Phenomenon Competition had begun, Uri & Jim still claiming that they have so called "Psychic Abilities" to move, bend, manipulate objects & minds. That's is why Criss was really pissed off and that's is the only reason why he did that on Live TV.

Hope this clears up a little of your mind~~~ ;)
Now let's just wait and see what will happen in the upcoming episodes~!

Cheers,
Roy JR Foo

Guess they are both ruining each other...gonna be a tight fight
Watch the following interviews of Uri, Criss and Jim

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Z9QV-XdcaxI&watch_response

I dont know the truth but if Jim claimed that he has the power in other sources such as the chatroom mentioned by Criss, he should be by any means exposed in public, so nobody falls for the fraud.

Criss, on the other hand, can just gently ask him , is this an illusion/trick, or you claim to have the 'real power'. If he insisted that he is able to contact the deceased, only then should he expose him

If anybody has watch the latest UK movie, MAGICIANS, they should get the moral of the story. Watch it, very educational.
It has a scene similiar to what Jim did, and the movie presented the moral of the story very well.

Roy Foo - November 4, 2007 03:00 AM (GMT)
I have seen that movie. It's an educational & hilarious movie which features Patrick Page & Ali Bongo as guest stars. Although some of the illusion inside were partially exposed as well as the psychic act who claimed to be able to talk to the other side of the world, it's a recommended movie for laymens to guide them in the right way. Great movie~!

I think it's important to let the audiences know that we are only ordinary person who possessed a skillful of hand to baffle them for entertainment purposes and do not claim to have paranormal abilities.

By saying that, I remember during the Magic Festival '07 that was held in Subang Parade. The Magician Host (I can't remember his name but he is a good friend of Victor), perform a psychokinetic silverware bending in front of live audience and when the fork was passed out for examination, a lady ask him whether he did have superpowers. All he did was smile to her and told her "I am only good at Cheating" which I clearly remembered in my head.

That way, audience would not be misled into her beliefs and I believe we have a duty to do it. It's only for entertainment purposes. ;)

Cheers,
Roy JR Foo

Vincent Tan, lol
The lady's response was good, i was sitting beside her. and iremember she was sitting on the floor.
So cute

Muhd Hilmi - November 4, 2007 07:24 AM (GMT)
Im not an avid mindfreak, but i have to agree with criss.
Not to be rude or anything but i just dont believe in this people can talk to the spirits or can talk to the other side. I dont think thats possible scientifically , and guys dont get me wrong , i do believe in my religion, i do very much but that is just my thought on this . And for criss angel. I think of him as only an entertainer and illusionist not more than that.

I apologize if i offended someone in this forum. again i apologize.

Peace out ;)

Kam - November 4, 2007 10:12 AM (GMT)
Oh man... that was classic. You know what would be a REAL treat to the audience? They fight for real with their superpower/magic/illusions. Uri and Jim can use hadoken or kamehameha style energy blast and Criss can fly and stuff.

But seriously, on one side I think in front of a live audience, that was very uncalled for discrediting and humiliating a performer. But on the other, Criss does what many magicians always wanna do, and that is to debunk the whole mindpower ability to manipulate things.

Brendan Low - November 4, 2007 01:05 PM (GMT)
I personally am against and dont believe people talking to spirit of the other side.

I am not saying Criss did the right thing.... well he clearly state that he is against people claiming to have superpowers. I dont know if Criss said he have superpowers or not but i know his is for sake of entertainment and it is all illusion and perhaps camera tricks. Blaine also did that. I gueess Criss didnt respect the performer because he "claim" he can connect with the other side which im sure a lot of people are skeptics abt this. If the performer calls himself a magician or an illusionist then fine.... Criss crosses the line and didnt respect him as a magician to a magician.

I guess Criss hatred for that guy goes a long way back... i mean that Jim dude has been claiming that he has real superpowers on forums and stuff... Criss was just there prepared to proof him wrong.

But yeah, truthfully... I wasnt impress with Jim's act either. Looks fake and looks like preplanned. I was like watching and was saying to myself... "yeah rite...where got such thing one..."

Anyway, really if Jim could have guessed what Criss was holding, then that would be something to ponder.

The fact that he cant obviously states that his act was just for entertainment and fake.

I never really like Criss angel from before... i mean i always prefer blaine... but i dunno... i actually enjoyed the show more because of the fight. I wish the show phenomenon can be screen on Astro or something it would be cool.

So yeah.... im not against Criss for wat he did.... it is certainly good for the show.

Everyone has their own views on things... so each to his own :)

Christopher Ng - November 4, 2007 02:40 PM (GMT)
Criss Angel is cute, see the V sign he posed after the last performer? haha

Yeah, again goes the saying, siapa makan chili dia rasa pedas

Why Jim has such a big reaction? even before Criss angel finish his statement

haroldz - November 4, 2007 03:30 PM (GMT)
wow!
is it really a fight?
we all know tv shows (live) in america can be scripted but claim to be LIVE show.

for example, the survivor series reality show (not the wrestling).
it was scripted from begin to an end.
it contestant did not stay in a jungle/ remote island, they stay in a hotel after the shooting!
american idol also scripted, different winner different genre all the time.

anyway, i think those confrontation is scripted to make the show more interesting.
after all, they r entertainment/ magician/ illusionist/ mentalist.
after jim callaghan n criss angel will produce a dvd called JIM VS ANGEL.

in every culture, there is a communication from d dead to their living loved one.
tru dreams, signs, etc...

btw, criss angel dated britney spears...he is a SOLD OUT

Christopher Ng - November 4, 2007 03:34 PM (GMT)
Are you sure Survivor series is really scripted???
American idols and other reality tv show , i believe so
But survivor??

Muhd Hilmi - November 5, 2007 05:57 AM (GMT)
yea man haroldz, why in the world did criss angel dateed britney spears, after her performance at the vma i didnt think any one would date her :!!: .but criss angel?????!

Adlan - November 5, 2007 06:09 AM (GMT)
What a lot of people don't realize is that Jim Callahan's act was scripted. Of course it was! Whether he performed his act well or not, I'll leave that up to the individual.

What Criss Angel did was disrespectful and arrogant. He failed to realize that all of this is in fact an act, it was in the context of a performance.

Personally, I think that people talking to the dead and claiming to be psychics, is a load of crap. I do not believe in all that. However, we must respect the boundaries of a performance.

Criss Angel is also fond of saying "I did this better", or "I know this guy and that guy". For instance in the 1st episode, after a competitor performs a PK T***hes routine, Criss goes on to say that "I know B*n*c**k, the creator of PK T***hes". Now every idiot with internet access can google it up and find the method. Inadvertently, he is risking exposure. To me, Criss Angel is immature and a spotlight hogger. He has to realize that the show is not about him.

He should have commented on the performance or technical aspects instead of trying to bust Jim Callahan about whether his abilities were genuine or not. He should have taken the time to think about what the context was. Jim Callahan was not going out and pulling the medium act for real, what he did was pure entertainment.

And the fact that a lot of people here fail to grasp all that, well, that saddens me most of all.
