Title: Card Through Window

Jon Goh - November 2, 2007 05:30 PM (GMT)
Hi there !!

I was wondering if anybody here has actually performed the CTW that requires you to set up your c**d on the w****w first before performing the trick !!! If there is anyone here that has done so before I would like to know about your audience management !!!

The only CTW that i have ever performed was KAOS...

I have always wanted to perform this trick but was too scared to because my audience management kinda sucks :(

Had to censor a few things.

Has no one actually tried CTW !!! :(

How did KAOS go for ya? Why not stick to KAOS... at least its impromptu :)
Personally, I don't have the power to manage spectator at that level to pull
off a conventional CTW.... too bold for me to even try :(

KAOS is indeed a very practical routine.
I personally do not use it as I just couldn't find the right audience to perform.
I am living with high intelligence people that possesed incredible analytical skills everyday. The impact was too huge for them to actually believe the card has gone through the window with KAOS.

There are quite number of visual card through window effect which do requires alot of pre-hardwork. I think this is better than KAOS to actually convince them (my area).

But for family & laymen, KAOS is a great knock out blow~!

Actually it is that difficult to perform the CTW that requires you to do the set up first.

There are tons of misdirection.

For people who are really afraid that things might go wrong, have a back up trick.

If they noticed the set up, just said that the set up is a prediction( of course set up in such a way that you can use the prediction back up plan) Then do a prediction effect. (Use a F**** and blew them away)

Well my performances for KAOS have gotten amazing reactions and the fact that it is impromptu makes it one of my favorite CTW..

But I had a sudden urge to perform the non impromptu version for a change... I believe that the non impromptu version gets better reactions...

I have never tried CTW before.... although sometimes I have the right condition... it is just too risky to .... but i guess no risk no gain right...

Jon Goh - November 6, 2007 03:26 AM (GMT)
Well in my opinion the higher the risk the greater the reactions especially CTW because the card is actually on the other side... It is just so visual you don't really need to say anything... I have actually tried CTW but i did it for my family and they were just simply amazed but i'm afraid that if I performed to random people my audience management would not be that good...

The only thing that I don't like about CTW is the clean up.

And by clean up I mean picking up all the cards that is on the floor :P

Yes, you look so cool when you spring the cards on the window. But you won't look as cool if when you start clearing the mess on the floor.

Of course, you can just walk away and ask the audience to inspect the deck (which is all over the floor) lol.

Haha ya i kinda agree with you look so cool springing the cards on the window and its stuck there but after the performance when your cleaning up you seem like the DBKL XD... In Criss Angels Mindfreak he did a CTW which was impromptu very nice i think it was episode 2 season 1 if I'm not mistaken..

personally, i think CTW is over rated... but, of course, i love doing it too...

i've come to learn, my favorite audience response based tricks come with a lot of set up... hence forth... me being a flourisher/gambler so i dont need to "impress" as much.

there are sooo many different ways to do CTW. i've experimented with about 10 types, including one that involved a toy car! haha...

if you search youtube for dcsukyi, you'll be able to find a similar trick, but to my laptop instead of a window... i personally thought it was a little bit different as an effect and sure as hell, it's not the same technique as what you'd see in most CTW effects...

I tried searching for your vid but there were no results...

Wow 10 different kinds of CTW... You must have superb audience management... Would you kindly teach me ^_^

I like performing CTW because of the reactions i get from people especially KAOS when the audience can visually see you pulling the card at the other side of the glass... The more impossible the trick looks like the better the reactions...

Damn it Jon go practice some normal sleight of hand first...
waste your time on CTW later...

Jon Goh - November 7, 2007 03:37 PM (GMT)
I'm waiting for lun to give me the stuff so in the mean time i shall waste my time with this sleight-less stuff :P

CTW is a good effect what !!!

hey hey.. calm down now...

there's the link...

i found CTW to be one of those classic effects that people get impressed with, no matter how many times they've seen it. KAOS is a good impromptu way of doing it, but you should check out eric james' dvd. it has a few techniques which are rather interesting... but they all require plenty of set up. so, if you like the impromptu way of doing things, i'd suggest you stay away from the rest and stick to KAOS.

Jon Goh - November 8, 2007 02:20 AM (GMT)
Wow great vid... You really lost the card in the deck haha

I already have eric james version but I felt it was very risky to perform...

BTW nice farrow... ^_^

Sukyi - November 8, 2007 03:42 PM (GMT)
haha... it's an old video... but thanks :)

If you've never done a CTW where you-throw-the-cards-like-crazy-to-a-window-and-the-selection-appears-to-have-stuck-outside and want to perform it but not have a very good audience control, start off by performing it on a window that has curtains. This way, you then reveal the card by pulling the curtain aside. If you are good enough, you may proceed without the curtains. And then, proceed performing Cyril's CTW. JK.

Well, those are my suggestions only, I only did a CTW twice - with the curtains.
