Hey! Welcome to the forum. Again another magician from Subang!
Anyway, you should try learning from books maybe? or try coins or other types of magic. You have like 2 months before college right? Plenty of time!!!!

Hey Chern,
Welcome to MMF. It has been nearly a year since the last time i log in.
Anyway, my advice is try master and be able to perform atleast 3 tricks.
Not just know the methods. I also think it is good u learn a few different tricks other than cards if u really interested in magic. Coz u don always walk around with cards, but u do with money and coins. Just master 1 or 2 is good enough. Just my 2cents of words.
And always remembers the rules of magic.
Last, Best wishes in magic and happy learning.
chern4ever - November 17, 2007 04:30 PM (GMT)
thanks for the advice!!
for now, i have mastered ambitious card, biddle trick, 2 card monte.
would like to learn more routines :)
the reason i hate coins is because... coin trick mostly just to decieve ur spectator tat the coin is not in ur hand while it really is....
they can request a check, tat time i duno how to react...
i have a R*V*N, and i duno how to choose an angle to perfom correctly, thats why i have never use it to perform before.
anyway, i will try to learn some from books, not gonna buy dvd of coins yet i think.
i wanna learn some.. stage magic too, who noes mayb it will come to use later in the future ^.^

This means u need to improve on your audience management skills. As i've always stressed out. Magic is not all about the trick that u present or how much skill is involved. but the performance and the cultivation of "AWw!!!" experience in the audience.
If u claim you have mastered the sleights, smooth out the handling. Do include various methods for one trick. It may come handy.
If audience wants to check you, perform some training or sucker moves to condition your audience first. Only then execute the actual moves. That is why you must be able to judge your audience. Same trick, different audience, requires different management and handling. You'll know this through experience.
Requesting to be check is common IF the audience is still fresh and not being impact by your performance. Or simply, a Heckler. This does NOT ONLY applies to coins but also any sleight that you perform.
If you are having a hard time performing, just stop, give some excuse. Don't continue with the tricks. Even if you are already half way when needed. It's just not worth to struggle to impress those who dont appreciate the art or your performance and just want to spoil your effort. And it's also not worth it to be exposed after all those practice and all those that u have invested.
I just think you did not put enough efforts into your coins as much as your cards. Maybe there's flaw or give away in your handling. And it's also normal to a logical mind to assume if its not in your right, it must be in your left. Even you yourself thinks that way if u watch other magician perform. Try to include some (1 or 2) subtlety to show BOTH hands to empty once in a while (eg, an open empty palm and free moving fingers). This would help a lot.
Sigh, another 5cents of words(as this time is longer) :P Happy Learning :)

thank you very much for ur 5cents :)
its true i put more effort on cards, guess i nid to practice more coin tricks from now on.
hrmm.. sometimes, when u r performing for someone tat is interested wif ur magic, but their friend will keep kacau u.
keep discouraging n keep insulting magic.
how do u guys handle this kind of situation??
stop performing?
VincentP - November 19, 2007 09:02 AM (GMT)
Yes. Tell them that because they are unappreciative you are going to stop performing. Then stop.
