zhongyan - November 27, 2007 06:38 PM (GMT)
Hi all. i was wondering whether has anyone been to themagichall in singapore before? The link is www.themagichall.com. I noticed that the prices of the products are quite cheap as compared to the magic shops in malaysia. For example,

This part removed. You already listed the website name, MMF folks can explore from there.
-Adlan

The currency is in singapore dollars.( conversion about 2.3)

I also noticed that no one in this or the singapore forum has ever talked about this site.Any one been or bought from there?Thanks....

Maybe it's because :

1. They have good resources already.
2. They don't know about that site.
3. (Product Price + Shipping Cost) x (2.3) = More expensive in the end.
4. (Trip to S'pore) + (Product Price) x (2.3) = Way more expensive.

Why do free promotion?
Dealer Review. about services, attitude and such
Not about price, Anyway, different market different pricing, depending on the level of competition

I believe price is important as well.

After all, if service is great from everyone, what else do we have to compare?

Some may be willing to wait longer due to slower delivery, but cheaper price etc.

I have visited the place when I went Singapore. Nice place I usually get my stuff from there because I frequently visit Singapore.

Anyway the service there is very good the guys are friendly and are willing to help you with anything that you might have doubts with.

It is located at the Meridien which is in Orchard Road right next to OG.

The pricing there for me is relatively cheap but if you where to count my bus ride there and other expenditures then it is expensive.

They have a nice range of stuff and are better than Magic Ring by far.

That's right.

If you wonder why playing cards in Singapore are sold cheaper than in Malaysia, it's because our country is majority a Muslim country.

Under the Excise Act 1976, excise duty is levied on imported and locally manufactured goods. One of them was Playing Cards which is bounded to a 10% Tax.

If you bring in from Singapore and unlucky being spot checked, you'll definetly be taxed. But if you manage to escape them, you're fine. ;)

There is a little risk involed, so it's up to you to decide~!

By the way, TheMagicHall is own by Kenneth Pei - Creator of Distortion from Theory 11. I think this should sort out your mind regarding their services and attitude.

Creator of distortion?
I thought it suppose to be Wayne Houchin??

Spelling amendment on my previous post;
Kenneth [Pei -> Peh]
He is the original creator of Distortion which was later sold to T11.

Just in case you miss out his name on the description...

Christopher Ng - November 28, 2007 07:08 AM (GMT)
Well, his name appears there doens't mean that he is the CREATOR of distortion

Moving pips gimmick has been around since 1970s, and is on jumbo card, meant for stage gag
In 1980, michael Ammar constructed it to a poker size card
He published his routine : visually yours in 1981, and the routine was used in t11 Distortion with his permission

In Distortion, 2 routines are being taught. 1 by Wayne 1 by Michael Ammar

I don't see his name mentioned anywhere in the video
Correct me if I'm wrong

I personally spoke to Kenneth a few months back, I don't think he need to came up with a lie to me that he is/isn't the creator of distortion.

All I heard from him is that, he is the original creator of Distortion [The effect that Wayne Houchin performed on the video], not the moving pips gimmick. T11 bought the copyright from him and as Artistic Director - Wayne Houchin gets to be involved in this project to teach on the video.

It's a little different than what Ellusionist has done with KAOs, Factory Sealed & Bullet, Axis Change and etc. In E's system, they did not purchase the rights from the creator rather than helping them to market their products on their sites and doing so by paying them royalty.

Hope this clears your mind, anyway it's a little off topic.
So let's get back to it. ;)

One more Qs that I wanted to reply is that, SMC Forum forbids anyone to do reviews on their local dealers as some of them do sell pirated products. Check Aloy's post in the SMC Forum. So that's why you don't hear any local dealers in Singapore being reviewed by them.

zhongyan - November 28, 2007 05:23 PM (GMT)
actually, i just wanted some reviews on that place..thats all.I did not mean to do any sort of promotion. I also believe that service and price play a major role when buying cards.u wouldn't want to go and buy cards from a dealer with bad service, right?Probably it would be better to go and buy in singapore just for the price.Hope can avoid the custom tax though. :D

Kenny - November 28, 2007 05:32 PM (GMT)
Yup , T11 bought the copyright thing from Kenneth .
He is my friend who is good with card handling and stuffs .

I think he is the originator of the trick , but not the gimmick though .

Overall , nice trick and visual hehe

Kenny - November 28, 2007 07:16 PM (GMT)
zhongyan , PM me I will give you a website with free shipping and cheap in Malaysia .

CardicianAndy - November 28, 2007 07:27 PM (GMT)
Wow , need to use CREATOR so big letter ? Cool

Kenny - November 28, 2007 07:33 PM (GMT)
Nope , i think he thought people cannot / mis-read it , so is okay :D

Christopher Ng - November 28, 2007 07:35 PM (GMT)
Lol, my bad for putting up the question

Nobody ever mention about it, even in the dvd and description

I thought Wayne came out with the routine

But , why, though He sold the effect to t11, they dint credit him at all.
