Title: I Think I Got Cheated
Description: Ghost Mini
Fahmi - December 1, 2007 07:25 AM (GMT)
I'm not revealing the shop name yet.
I bought a Ghost Mini Deck for my son. It's supposed to have the same Air Flow finish as the normal Ghost deck right?
The mini deck doesn't have the 'bumpy texture' of the normal Ghost.
Is this normal? Have anybody handled a mini Ghost Deck?
And I paid RM 50 for the mini deck.. ouch.
Christopher Ng - December 1, 2007 08:31 AM (GMT)
no it dont have an air flow finish

On the side of the box it's written
"UV500 AIR-FLOW FINISH MADE IN CHINA"
I think that qualifies as Air-Flow finish and i thought USPC only produced card "Made in U.S.A."
What do you think?
Christopher Ng - December 1, 2007 02:48 PM (GMT)
From what i know, all mini decks has no airflow /uv500 air flow finish
the words, if printed on the box, is only the mimic of the ghost deck description
However, I've got totally no idea about the made in china thingy :S
yinhowe - December 1, 2007 03:38 PM (GMT)
I have a mini Ghost deck.
It does not have air cushion finish (the bumpy texture)
and it has the same made in China wordings.
but I dont remember how much I paid for it, but I don't think it was RM50 that much.
Fahmi - December 1, 2007 04:15 PM (GMT)
Oh well.. lesson learned. :(
Christopher Ng - December 1, 2007 04:35 PM (GMT)
Actually, you cannot consider that as a cheat or a scam
They put the price tag on and you purchased
One very good example is snacks sold in sundry shop and snacks sold in 7-11, people pay more in 7-11, but , that is not cheat :P
Is best to have some knowledge about these stuffs before buying
Roy Foo - December 1, 2007 04:58 PM (GMT)
Wow~! RM50 for a Mini Ghost Deck?
Way over the top~~~
Riduculous pricing as it'll cost around RM25~30 the most.
I roughly have a sense of which dealer that you've purchased if I'm not mistaken. I've seen even more outrageous pricing RM90 for a Viper Deck when they are first launched.
Just stay away from it and you'll be fine. ;)

The lesson learned is...
I won't be visiting THAT shop anymore eventhough others have given good reviews about the shop.
Jennifer - December 2, 2007 12:48 PM (GMT)
Well..... i too might have an idea of which shop ur referring to.
I got a bee deck from this dealer. Everything looked like the original! The seal, the cover, the feel, pretty okie to fan with.... till someone pointed out that the barcode is on the wrong side!
Ppl, make sure all your deck's barcodes are on the left hand side!! This only applies to Bicycle and Bees. Correct me if i'm wrong though.
Just wondering, is your son doing fine with the deck? Like is he able to do tricks and difficult moves with it?

He's learning the Linking Rings. He now can do the Erdnase Colour Change, though needs some fine tuning. And his fan is as bad as mine.. heh heh heh.
At least, he knows how to keep the secret.

Jennifer, your shop and Fahmi's shop could be different

Fahmi - December 4, 2007 07:31 AM (GMT)
Anyway guys, thanks for the tips. I think we can close this topic.
Whichever shop it is, no need to argue about it. I'm not here to bring down the shop. Just, buyer beware. Thanks all.
VincentP - December 4, 2007 04:07 PM (GMT)
Wouldn't it be better to just name the shop so that other members can be wary as well? What's there to be ashamed of of naming a shop if they did sell you something at a rip off price? I don't get your logic.

*Shop name removed*
isaac - December 5, 2007 02:24 PM (GMT)
I STRONGLY urge you all to remove the shop name.(i am not in anyway related to them)
When I am in Genting, a bottle of coke cost me RM3-4?
A Char Kuey Teow cost me Freaking RM10.
In some inner area, kampung, RM2 you can get a big bowl of CKT.
So can I say I got cheated?
Buyer put a price, you willing to pay for it.
The product is a genuine Bicycle Ghost Mini.
It is not a pirated product or rip off.
Ellusionist has discontinued shipping into Malaysia due to high fraud rate and high piracy rate.
All Ellusionist Items in Malaysia can be considered Rare Item.
He put a price and you take it willingly. I do not see any problem with the whole process.
If wanna blame, blame yourself for not checking out the market price.

Rip off price?
Let me count for you:
3.99 is retail price = RM14
Shipping for just one deck might cost you 10usd+- to arrive (if you directly order from Ellusionist).
So RM14 + RM35 = RM49
Rip off price?
Think Again.
Oh wait, E do not ship it in to MYS anymore?
So no matter how much you willing to pay now you still cannot bring them in.
They might get in dealer price,
Rental?
Workers?
Misc?
Taxes?
License?
Malaysia Tax rate for any import goods is freaking high.
20% of Playing Cards + 15% service tax.
Rip off price?
Now think again.

Fahmi - December 5, 2007 03:02 PM (GMT)
I would like to be clear about this.
The price was high but that wasn't the problem. I just wanted to know if the DECK was genuine.
Please read back my posts.

I didn't question the PRICE. Somebody else did. Please read all the posts!
I SHOULD have shopped around. Maybe buy it from isaac. It seems his products are cheaper (Pricewise, ok!)
I SHOULD have checked the cards on purchase (Air Flow or not).
MY MISTAKES. Right??
Maybe the admin could remove the shop's name, as I surely can't edit my posts.
Christopher Ng - December 5, 2007 03:27 PM (GMT)
Ok
Fahmi,
I believe no more questions about mini decks anymore?
It is proven genuine. It is by Ellusionist.
You paid the price, you know it is genuine mini ghost deck
And maybe next time u will know what is worth to purchase :)
I believe Isaac's post is not referring to you
He is just giving ethical reasons not to put up the shop name in this public forum
jeffgoh - December 5, 2007 04:20 PM (GMT)
i think its ok to put the name out , if you overpriced that's too much. in business, you have to know the cost of rental and other hidden cost as well and quote accordingly.
i have seen nasi lemak stall outside the street selling ayam goreng for RM 4 per pc and they dont pay tax or rental at all. this is cheating.
if the shop selling pirated goods at original price, this i consider as cheating too.
I know some of you are friends here but please be clear about Doin Things right and doing things Wrong.
there's a saying.. Customers are always Right. Magic Products are still very new and not many Wholeseller yet. That's why it is expensive here at this moment.
Fahmi was afraid he got an Inferior Product, that's nothing wrong for him to confirm it again. that's the reason why this forum was built in the first place. I noticed that some seniors here were doing business genuinely but also protecting the one that is not ethical in business because they knew each other. I hope these will change and instead protect the Original Creator of the products.
Who don't want Transparent ? something we are not use too in Malaysia.
jeffgoh - December 5, 2007 04:23 PM (GMT)
Here we go again, The shop name was remove again.
I wonder how many rape cases unreported by Police Malaysia.
VincentP - December 5, 2007 07:46 PM (GMT)
Isaac, what I said was to name the shop IF they DID sell it at a rip off price.
Of course, one must take into account all factors before deciding if the price is a ripoff, including cost of living in the area, rental of the place, shipping costs, customs, tax etc.
I feel that Fahmi had doubts about the product due to the quality AND the high price, as one naturally thinks that with a high price comes quality too, so we may think that a ghost mini that costs RM50 would come with the usual finishing, which, disappointingly, it did not.
I left the choice to post the name to Fahmi, I did not force him to post it. I merely voiced my opinion that if he felt that the shop was selling goods at a disproportionately high price, why not let the members know who was the one who sold it? Jeff, I respect Fahmi and his decision to withdraw the name of the shop. This is, after all, his post and if he does not feel that the shop ripped him off then he should have the right to remove the name of the shop.
However, I feel that I have to disagree with Isaac on his point that if the seller puts a price on it and the buyer pays for it, it is assumed that the buyer pays for it willingly. This would depend on the supply and demand of the market. If there is little demand (for magic it is small compared to other things), sometimes the buyer is forced to pay a ridiculous price. Something that is rare is almost certainly always worth more than something that is common. Who controls the flow of goods into the country? The sellers.
This is why there is anti-competition law in place, to prevent sellers from monopolising the market and selling things to buyers at outrageous prices, simply because no one else is selling them. Big companies lower their prices to force small companies out of business, simply because they can afford to, and when there is no one else left, they can jack up the prices however much they want.
The same applies to cerain staple items in Malaysia such as rice, noodles, sugar etc. Why does the government want to put a cap on the price? Because they recognise that the sellers might band together and decide to raise the price for more profit, and that the buyers are helpless or will be greatly inconvenienced if that happens.
I see nothing wrong in naming a shop if it is selling overpriced or pirated goods, which I think can be said for the most of us. Here, however, Isaac has kindly calculated the cost for us and has shown that it is not overpriced (in a way - I am of the opinion that all E goods are overpriced anyway LOL), so the removal of the name, at the poster's request, is a valid one.
Jeff, your post seems to imply that Isaac is friends with those magic dealers, but I think that Isaac is an honest person, and if he says he has nothing to do with them, I believe him (although I have to say, I may not agree with his views all the time hahaha). If I misinterpreted your post, I apologise in advance.

Just a quick reply (rushing to work now, will add on later),
I guess those who know what I am doing now,
They are not my friend (hope they do not treat me as enemy, Mwahahaha) and I should actually be kinda happy if you all bad mouth their shops.
But, I guess is just unfair for them.

(Now maybe some conspiracy theorist would say that i work with isaac!!!)
It is unfair to judge their pricing.
Different dealers have different overhead, different strategy.
Some sell it expensive because they have to.
Some sell it expensive just to make a quick buck.
Some sell it cheap because they can afford to.
Some sell it cheap to kill off competition.
BUT if you sell fake stuff as GENUINE, THEN I think the offender should be paraded for all to see.
BUT if sell fake stuff as it is (Rip Off Products), then the decision is on the buyer to buy it or not.

May be we should push this topic somewhere else.
Pricing, Products, Rip-off, and Piracy. ONe whole big new issue to look into.
As a seller, I am really interested to see how you all look at it.
To Fahmi,
This sound like another T11 and E conspiracy theory.
:D
May be I use same account and act as Fahmi?
lol, so now I am writing letter to myself.
Close this thread Mod, is over.

We've had discussions about piracy so many times already, and every single time it turns into something ugly.
This is going no where.
