Title: Can We?
Charlston - December 6, 2007 11:55 AM (GMT)
hi there, i `m replying the previous post whereby i was told about the issue of:
why cant somebody give their own opinions,
whats wrong of voicing out own`s opinion.
i`m saying, what if this culture goes on like there`s no tmr?
imagine in a topic whereby everyone voice out their own opinion without flaming any other forumer. but they voice out something as follows.
poster A
i dun like this fella, he is pointless..blabla bla
poster B
i dun like the other fella he is boring bla blab la
poster c
the other fella was bad, waste my time. blabla bla
poster D
Mr. xxx is a conman, b careful him.. bla bla bla..
and so on....
wat pisses me off are the wordings of certain members that sounded too straightforward.(its like saying fxxk off in your face lolzz)
there`s no wrong at all in voicing out your opinion. but how u guys felt the way i voice out mine previously?
dun i sounded harsh and bad?(immature some may say)
the feedback was good,(how i wish my business was like that too.. lol)
yeah guys, i do admit i`m too immature and harsh in my previous post.
what u think that makes me wanted to do it?
i`m not trying to be another`s person parents teaching u guys how to talk more politely.
my main point here is that please use more respectable wordings when saying something negative.
i`ve tired of people keep telling me how pathetic this forum is and how stupid this forum is, how time wasting this forum is...how stupid the moderator is(sorry brendan, i`m passing messages only, not at all my opinion, u did a great job in bringing this up)..
and so on....
JEFF, hope u can see i`m doing the right thing, i want this forum to grow and be more respectable not only to members even to outsiders, thats it.and jeff, sorry to make a mess in MMF.
but my point is clear by now,

I think that your previous posts were made in a rather immature way, and that your current post shows part of this as well.
You say you made your post in a rude way to teach people how to talk politely. I don't think that that is a valid way, as two wrongs do not make a right.
Here, I think the difference you are trying to make is the difference between just brainless criticism and constructive criticism, especially for the more serious criticism. There is nothing wrong with voicing out one's opinion, but we have to do it in a manner that is polite and understanding.
Examples:
1. If you are just saying XXX is boring, then there is less need for justification.
2. If, however, you say that XXX is completely useless, I guess that it would be an inflammatory post UNLESS you post your reasons.
In a nutshell, two wrongs don't make a right, and I hope you agree with me. You openly admit that your previous postings was harsh, bad and immature. I still think an apology is due.
P.S. Mods, can this thread be moved to either Magic Principles and Theories or Chit chat pleasse? I feel that those are more appropriate parts of the forum to discuss this than Stage Magic and Illusions.

I really (tried my best) cannot understand what is your main point.
I guess if you really want to help, please help by posting usefull stuff for eg. your card manipulation routine, parasol act, stage act, etc etc. We all know you have won a few competitions and you are a very good magician.
I respect your skill by I look down on your atitude.
I guess is pretty idiotic to come into a person house and keep criticise how bad his/her house is, common sense right??
But common sense is not so common anymore.
If you are a pro trying to help, help like a pro (post professionally).
If you are not a pro, you got no right to yell like some monkey overhere.
My point being, if you are not happy click "log out" and the x on your Internet Explorer.

Well Charlston, lol dont be sorry for me.
I dont care what others think. In fact I feel sorry for them.
Like Isaac said.... if u or other people dont like us or think this forum is stupid, then what the heck are u or them dwelling in here for?
Simple... if u dont like it here... dont come here...
Abt commenting abt one's performance... if really it is how the person feel.. in chris's case, he felt bored... so he mentioned it. He did not go to the extreme in saying that guy is so bad with his presentation, what a waste of his time or I can do so much better than him etc etc. VincentP explained it v well in his post.
Btw, one person's remark does not justify everyone's opinion. Each to its own... and accept it.
Have a great day.

This has nothing to do with magic theory. Moved.

I agree.
If you can provide valid justification for your claims or opinions, I don't really see anything wrong with that.

If Mr XXX is really a conman, are there any other more "polite" ways to warn people about him?
