Title: Hello Every Body

ALEXANDER TEE - December 31, 2007 06:05 PM (GMT)
hello, i am a begineer magician from kedah.

I just know little bit magic, i have put my video on youtube.

if you have interesting, may go to youtube search hantheng.

then you will see my magic video over there.

actually, i hope that can find some one studying or learn magic with me, at least same level or better than me.

i also wonder that, where you guys learn the magic? where you all learn it? is it got master to teach you all?

i just learn from my friend, actually is share with my friend, and we exchange magic.

and my hometown have no magic shop...kl magic shop too expensive....

Very few of us have teachers to teach us. Most of us learn by ourselves, through books or dvds etc.

Sometimes, we also exchange tricks.

If you think magic is too expensive, start off with cards and coins, and learn from books such as Royal Road to Card Magic and Bobo's Modern Coin Magic.

These two books have enough material to last your whole life, actually.

or to get some dvd like John Guastaferro Brain Storm

i saw your clip on you tube..some tricks are nice although it is simple but you did it very well...but about the clip..it is moving a bit fast..did you edit it?

Okay, I've just sat through all twenty of your videos, some of them I watched repeatedly.

What I think you need to do first is to watch some magicians performing to audiences in real life, be it either online (youtube etc) or go out and watch.

Most of the things you have shown so far appear to be moves, or single, one-off effects rather than one whole routine. You need to put those moves together and combine it to make it flow. The good thing is that you've already started to show that you are starting to think that way, in your very last video, the card reversal.

If you think magic is expensive, you are right, it can be. But it can also be moderate, if you are creative and try hard. Magic isn't easy. To keep costs low, just start off with one book: Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic. That one book can last you a few years at least, the same as the other two books, just that it has other stuff in it as well as cards and coins.

Mark Wilson + cards + coins + rope = not very expensive magic!

Hi Alex,

Welcome to the forum. I'm from Kedah too. AS.Which part of Kedah do you come from?

I'm a beginner too. Good luck on your magic.

I understand that getting stuff anywhere outside of KL is quite hard. I would suggest either you order online or get somebody to buy it for you.

Cheers

Fahmi

Hi there!Welcome to MMF.

I did not watch your video yet,but I will watch it later.Just dont have time right now.
For,beginner,I highly recommend Royal Road to Card Magic.Although the trick inside is maybe old but it will really help you with your magic. It will teach you all the basic sleight in card magic that you should know chapter by chapter. It will also teach you several trick for every sleight that being teach. This way,you can master the sleight.
This book has helped me a lot when I started magic.

thanks the suggestion from you all,

Actually I also training card magic, but sometime, I prefer to show magic without any gimmick.
Mean I like street magic, but street magic also got many gimmick, that I know.

But my hometown have no any magic show, and gimmick very expensive.

So, sometime I wish that can learn some magic which can show any time, and cool, as well as borrow a item from audience, not from myself one.

That is really cool, so I like street magic, but street magic, is very difficult to get a new idea without card...haha...

actually i don't really agree with this since there're lot of things you can show with coin or bill. you can also perform mentalism too.

Lastly, welcome to MMF and Happy Chap Kor Meh :D
