U dont riffle shuffle to do a giant fan.
U should do faro shuffle...
Maybe you got the terms wrong. not sure.
If u can do a good thumb fan, then u should be able to do a good giant fan, given if u faro and weave the cards properly.
Best to get someone to watch and guide you.
Cheers,
Brendan

Ah ha! I just learnt how to faro! Say yay brendan!! :P
Ahem, back to you Terra.
Yes, you should hold the bottom packet, and thumb fan like you would with a normal 52 card deck. S/hould be able to get it instantly, but nicely with loads of practice. Go slow ya

What I Found Out
It's easier to weave when you hold the packets at/near their oppossite ends and hold them slightly loose.
The angle between the packets should not be too great. Maybe about 20 Degrees from each other.
Giant Fan
After weaving the packets, push them together until almost halfway-in. I find the cards will 'fly-out' if you push in more than half. If you just push in just a little, after making the g-fan, the cards at the ends will fall off the fan.
Tips
The Giant Fan works really well when it's hot outside, compared to the other fans.
Cheers

The only reason it would be uneven after you spread it is because you're not spreading it evenly. Just like when you first start fanning a regular fan, it takes practice to get the even spread.
If it's about the faro. That's another thing that all I can say is practice makes perfect. I'm not going to say that doing it this way is easier/more consistent that doing it that way. In all honesty, all ways are just as hard and you're going to end up with the same problem in learning your perfect faro... after lots and lots of practice, the best seem to always have one card out of place, including me.
Here's a video I did some time ago to show the disney deck off. For some reason I couldn't find the thread on MMF anymore... but yeah... take a look at how I do my giant fan. Hope it helps!
