Title: Magic On Valentine Day...
Description: Any suggestion ?
Jeremy Fu - February 1, 2008 01:55 PM (GMT)
I need some unique suggestions basically on effects which are suitable to perform standing up infront of a table of a couple using normal close-up props as I'll be doing table to table that kind of walkaround magic on the mentioned day...
Any romantic ideas on the effects ? I'll appreaciate a lot... Short and simple..

Done.
Meh, who knows these things. The internet is crazy. Hehe.
Good luck with your show.
Make sure you take advantage of the emotions of a trick, especially for something as romantic as Valentine's Day. Think of emotions that you yourself fell strongly about, and try to incorporate them into your routines.
I don't want to go into anything specific, I don't want to cramp your style.
Good luck and have fun!

I'm in the know but I would really suggest these after performing on Valentines a couple of times .
Your objective for the day would be to entertain ...well , that's what it normally would be ..but and this is a BIG exception , you have to change your focus on Valentines ( whatever would that mean , whatever would that mean ?)
I'm 21 , go to the gym thrice a week , have average looks , a little charm and alot of liking for the opposite sex . What happens when I go to a table to peform for a couple on their first date ? Lets hyphothethically say that the guy this hot mama is dating looks less appealing than me .What can happen ?
Well, I could be a son of a gun and steal his date when he visits the washroom . (Somehow the previous sentence brings fond memories back) …. OR continue to perform for them , but by doing that , I’ll be making the guy look and feel self conscious the whole night and making him one unhappy brat on Valentines .
I’m not that bad .
These is what I always follow when I perform for a couple . Especially when the lady is hot .
1)My aim is to make the guy look good . No matter what , my routine is structured so that the GUY will look good, dashing, amazing (put in what ever action word you want) in the end .
2)I never touch the girl . No tapping , no hand holding , no flirting , no accidental kissing , no sexual lingo whatsoever .
3)I never perform routines to make a fool out of the guy or make him guess something wrong .
4)I always make sure the guy looks good !
What do I perform ?
I perform something that will make the guy look good !
It’s Valentines . Make sure you position yourself well and make sure the couples are entertained in the right way .

There are lots of effects for Valentine's Day in The Wizards' Journal #8 (on my site), from "My D'Liteful Valentine" to routines with chocolates, heart shaped balloons, heart-shaped playing cards, and candy "kisses."
It's easy to turn almost any effect into a Valentine effect by a simple change of materials- like using candy kisses instead of your regular chop cup balls or making cups and balls "cups and candy." Your card symbols for Valentines day are the Jack, Queen, and King of hearts.
Since a big part of the holiday is passing out Valentine Greeting Cards, you'll also find lots of ideas in my Dollar Store Magic Section under the name "GReeting Card Magic." Most of those ideas can easily be adapted for use with Valentine Day cards.
By the way, Happy Valentine's Day!

Thx David Lai for ya reply...
I read your reply only ermm.. today ?
Anyway, my table hopping was kinda success as I in a way performed as what you would do.. No taking advantages of a gal infront of that gal's boy..
I performed and made the couple feel blessed..
For cards, I mostly do a routine with my WOW and some candy kisses effect... the Kiss trick..
Well... but my first part of stage act was kinda corrupted that day..
I did a mentalism effect on memory loss for a guy infront of the crowd
and the response was just so so. I guess the couples sitting down there were enjoying their main course more than my opening act. Too late now for me to read your reply and I learnt my lesson - I shall never make somebody guess something wrong again on stage particularly on valentine B) . My second part of act managed to arose interest of my fellow crowd and I ended it nicely. Not a very good start off but an okay ending. However, I only rate my overall stage act for ermmm 60% ? I'm not so good in stage performances and I do want to enhance myself in such field in future.
Once again, thx everyone for giving me the suggestions and I do appreciate alot..
