Title: Mmf Has 10k Members ?
Description: WOW ?

After seeing one of a new members, Nicholai Ooi, who has joined our MMF community, I realise that MMF has already exceeded a good 10,000 members here in this forum..
Isn't this wonderful ? There're so many magic lovers here but how come there's only a limited amount of people who are willing to contribute and be active in this forum. This question then somehow brings me to another question as why everytime I always notice there's a random amount of unknown guests who're registering to become a forummite all the time. And this is what I curious to know. Does MMF really has 10k members in a way that for every registered member is supposely to be a different individual ? Any hacker out there trying to pump up the numbers of members in MMF ?
Is the security code for confirmation purposes upon registering turns out to be in sequence order that hacker can detect and abuse it by utilizing some sort of software devices and keep on register for users in this forum 24/7 ?
I find it weird seeing so MUCH members but so FEW of us here..
MODS.. may I have the answer explained ?

A whole whole lot of spambots. A whole legion of spambots registered previously when we had open and automatic registrations but its very tedious to filter them out.
And the quantity would have reached 100,000 by today if we didnt unable the automatic registrations a few months ago.
We get about 50-150 spambots registering everyday. And I have to go thru each one and see which is a real person, and which is a spammer.
If I dont log on for a few days, there'd be a few hundred applications to go thru.
AND i DON'T EVEN GET PAID!!! :( :( :(
Now you all know I am so grumpy all the time. ^_^

I guess it all comes down to a lot of the newly registered members are fans of magic trying to find out the secret. And when they can't, they abandon their account.
We definitely owe the Mods for this perpetual annoyance of having to filter spammers everyday!!
