Title: Soar! - Lecture, Workshop And Show
Description: Shoot Ogawa Lecture Tour - afterthoughts

yinhowe - March 10, 2008 01:53 AM (GMT)
So ppl, how was the show? the lecture?

I only had the opportunity to attend the Lecture for the Penang leg of the tour, and there wasnt a show in Penang.

As for the lecture, 3 words to describe.. wtf wtf wtf???

*will write more if I have time (am now at the office.. Monday sux)

I thought the KL leg was great, but then my opinion would be biased as I was part of the organising team.

My laymen friends seemed to love the show and I personally found the workshop really helpful.

I went for the show and the lecture.

The lecture was great. He did some hardcore stuff for those more advanced people and some really simple stuff for those beginners. His humour was great. Overall, i got some useful pointers from him esspecially when he touches on the classic force part i feel it really do help me in future. I personally love his torn and restored and his feral card. The feral card trick especially i'm sure is going to be one of the trick i'm gonna use it regularly. He did some of his popular stuff like his coins, cards, matrix and thimble etc.

I bought his 6 shooter dvd and thimble dvd and got them signed. Damn worth it because shoot's giving us a really good price.

Thumbs up to all the Annexe people to organise such a wonderful and successful event. Thank You.

On downside is that an incident happen in front of my eyes that potray the ugly scene behind magic in Malaysia just after the show. Whats more worst is that Shoot finds it out himself.

Some pointer to add.
Shoot found out when someone asked him to sign 'it'

Great lecture and great show off
Thank you everyone who made it happen

Superb lecture by Shoot...
( but hor,he forgot to teach the card under pad routine ler  )

Great presentations from Amslem and Shoot for the show...
...

But at times, I did see some random flashes lit up the whole auditorium. Obviously there were some people from the audience shoot here shoot there with their cams. If I was not mistaken, Anslem did not say anything about firming and taking pictures during the lecture and the show so I was like... ok there's someone firming the shoot's lecture...

Also.. I happened to witness the "ugly scene" mentioned by our 2 friends below. For that incident, I further investigated that the particular person actually did not know about 'it' until then. Rationally, who the heck would dare to act so if one knew ? I therefore believe that we should point our fingers to the root that resulted such an embarassing story to Malaysian magicians.

Anyway.. Good job to the organizers for such a fruitful event.

You guys are talking about the guy who asked Shoot to autograph a pirated Shoot Ogawa DVD? I heard about that incident.

Glad you guys enjoyed it, it was a super hectic & tiring day, but it was a great day and I had a lot of fun.

Thanks everyone for your support and helping making it happen. :)

Yes.

I was there that time still waiting for Shoot to autograph my dvd.

This guy came in with a Shoot in Hollywood dvd with him.

At first Shoot suspected something wrong already as the cover of the dvd is a bit blur than a original dvd and when Shoot opened the dvd it is obvious that the dvd is pirated. According to that person the dvd is bought from a local shop.

Unfornunately, Shoot had signed on the cover but Shoot is nice enough to give back the dvd to him

Gosh, i didn't know that happen! No wonder he mentioned something similar later on.....

I hope the poor dude (or dudette) realises his/her mistake!

Christopher Ng - March 11, 2008 08:12 AM (GMT)
Sometimes you just cant blame him alone, maybe he is also another victim

I once visit a shop in Subang, and the shop worker insisted that all dvds sold there are 'genuine' .

yinhowe - March 11, 2008 11:57 AM (GMT)
I have actually quite some stuff to say about magic dvd piracy, however, lets not turn this thread into a dicussion on piracy thread. For those of you who were around long enough, remember what happened to that last piracy discussion thread.

Though i can't help but pity the guy if he was lead to believe that what he had was a 'genuine' dvd.

Jeff G - March 11, 2008 12:26 PM (GMT)
Let's not go there.

szehowe - March 11, 2008 05:04 PM (GMT)
Yin Howe did you get your hands on any dvd?

Is there any left for penang ppl?

yinhowe - March 12, 2008 02:36 AM (GMT)
Quite a few sold out, like his thimbles dvd.. blardee hell, u guys didnt leave any for us!! :P Shoot in USA lecture 2002 left 1(which i bought, cos the cover/dvd looked cool when he signed it with a silver sharpie :D) , I didn't see his wand manipulation dvd as well.

Shoot said people in Pg more 'civilised'. We line up quietly when buying dvds, KL ppl like mad men, grab like crazy. LOL

Victor, do you know the guy? I mean, given the benefit of the doubt, he may be a magic noob and was lead to believe that the dvd he bought from a 'magic shop' was the real deal? Can't assume that the fella knew it was a bootleg copy.

*off topic:
Funny story Mr Anslem Roy told me during the end of the lecture about assuming too much.
A guy came to him to buy flash paper, and asked him to explain what it does. So, after explainnig the effects of flash paper, that it gives off a bright flash for productions yada yada... the fella went home happy. The guy called back later, saying, hey, the flash paper is not working.......
Guess what? the guy didn't ignite the paper, and thought the paper would light up by itself..
So, people, never ASSUME.. :P
