And like all events organised by other parties, this thread should be locked but if Cahyo isn't from the organiser, then maybe I'll let this slide.
http://forums.malaysiamagicfellowship.com/...?showtopic=1154That said, I'm interested in the event, and if you are part of the organisers, please forward me the details of the event (in an advertisement form) and I'll gladly post it up for you (in a locked post, of course).
yinhowe - April 7, 2008 08:14 AM (GMT)

Jeremy Fu - April 19, 2008 09:46 PM (GMT)
Hey guys just a piece of information for you,
From the words of the organizer, this event will be known as International Magic Extravaganza 2008, a 5 Star Competition which offers the total prizes of USD$ 5300 in cash ..
This year, it will have a Magician Awards & People's Choice Awards as well.
You will be expecting a much bigger and crazier magic festival in Malaysia
Everything will be the same like last year, whole day event from Fri to Sun and you will be expecting more dealer's booth this year but more competents ( >30 )
Start saving money and be an early bird to purchase ur magic items for a much lower price.. ( faster before someone grab whole chunks of items and sell for a higher price like last year ;) )
Muhd Azim bin Mohd Azmi - April 20, 2008 05:27 AM (GMT)
Its been a while I didn't visit this forum as I in a boarding school now.
Looks like its going to be another Magic Festival and I,m sure its going to be greater.Do tell the date if anyone know it.Hopefully it is a holiday or I can't attend it. :(
Spellbinder - April 29, 2008 11:15 AM (GMT)
Is this event for real? I cannot find mention of it anywhere on the Internet outside of this forum and I'd like to advertise it (if it is real) on my Calendar of Events:

However. the event is real..

If you log on to Subang Parade's website, under future events, there's this nice logo and it says Subang Magic Fest, coming soon.

Coming soon ... but when? My guess is that there are a lot of hiccups and so it is deliberately vague ... while organisers try to work things out. Maybe its a just plan first and then look for a few magicians to headline the event?
Hope for Malaysians it will materialise and be a good festival...
Paul Long - May 20, 2008 10:29 PM (GMT)
Just got a PM from the organizer to say it is definitely on at Subang Parade from 6-8 June with prize money offered and 14 magicians participating in the Gala show from various countries (names given)
But since it was a PM, it's not proper to give more details. But I presume many too would have got similar PMs so ...
Certainly worth checking out the Subang Parade space for details which I presume would be out soon as 6 June is not far away.

Jeff G - June 10, 2008 02:40 PM (GMT)
You couldn't attend the festival, because you had to go buy a cool looking plastic deck of cards? You have a weird sense of priority.
amir ariff - June 11, 2008 12:15 PM (GMT)
sorry, but imts not for me.its for my uncle.he study at wales so i have to buy for him.i am very very sorry. :(
Bernard Sim - June 11, 2008 12:33 PM (GMT)
What's so difficult in adding a space after each punctuation?
What's so difficult in using the shift key to start a new sentence with a capital letter?
The initial question was, who went to the festival, not who didn't go. Why tell people that you can't go and you had to go and buy a cool deck? If you have nothing significant to post, don't post.
Ok, let's get back to the topic. From what I heard, it was a successful event. But, I think there is something serious in which the organiser need to look into. There are many pirated effects being sold. As this event is opened to the public, layman won't care if they are original or not, they'll just buy whatever is cheaper. Can you imagine 2 version's of Matsuda's WOW being sold at that event and there is a huge difference in their price. Which version will sell more?
For the dealer selling the original, his sales will definitely be affected. Would he attend the next festival as a dealer again? I doubt so. Would official clubs endorse such events in future? I doubt so, I know for sure my club in Singapore will not support it.
We can't stop piracy but at least we can show some respect for dealers who sell original stuffs.
Darren - June 11, 2008 01:20 PM (GMT)

From what you heard? You were not even there. If you didn't even bother to come, don't comment. Regardless whatever reason you can give, you still didn't show up. Just keep your suggestions to yourself. The organizer has already done a lot to get this event going, so he doesn't need another smart a$$ like you to tell him what to do.
We are in a world of piracy here. As much as we like, at times we have no choice but to look after our wallet. Ask yourself, have you not buy a pirated or imitation product? Have your parents not do so as well? I wonder how did they educate you. Take a look at the things you have and tell the world that you don't owned a single pirated product? I am very sure you have, so keep this piracy topic to yourself before you disgrace your family, since they are the one that brought you up.

I actually typed a whole bunch of stuff, and then decided, I'm actually really really tired and sick of this. I'm gonna lock this, rest of you read and think for yourselves.
