Thanks for your interest guys, I think I will publish my card magic book probably in the near future as now at this stage, I have many things to solve, editing, designing, illustrating, collecting, creating, take my handling photos, send for printing, etc. ^_^

My main intention and objective of writing this book as I would like to share my card effects with card enthusiasts, etc. I would say sharing some card ideas or food for thought kind of magic.

Sure, I will let you guys know about my project status. Yes, I can't really say that all my creation here are MINE or ORIGINAL ALL ARE MINE. Because there are thousand of magic books, megazines, lecture notes, etc available in the market as it's impossible to read them all, but I have tried my very best to provide the 'credits' whatever I get the inspirations from. ^_^

Yes, all my card effects requires NO SPECIAL DECK or GIMMICKED CARDS. Maybe I will add or mixture, combinations of the card effects. ;)

However guys, if time permit me to add some more effects in my book, I will add them more and enhance the effects even further. Some of the effects I have been playing quite a long time.

Though in my book, majority of the card effects I aim for or towards on Intermediate card magician, such as sleights: Passes, tilt, Elmsley Count, Jordan Count, Ascanio spread, forces, palms, etc.

Below are some of my effects that will be published in my book: ;)


Effects & Descriptions
==============

1. Mirage

- A card is freely selected by the spectator, magician failed to find the card, this card act as the locator card and surprisingly, found the spectator's selection with the help of this locator card, not only found the sepctator's selection but also sandwich the "Winning cards" as well, the 4 Aces. Coincidence????


2. Up & Down

- A variation of Roy Walton effect's "Going Bye Bye" with some kicker and trasposition effects!


3. Topsy-Turvy

- A packet effect where the cards turn face-up and change colour.


4. Eminent Triumph I

- A Dai Vernon's Triumph effect which very easy to do with no false shuffle and a genuine shuffle of face-up and face-down deck. No setup is required!!!


5. Eminent Triumph II

- A triumph effect where can be performed with 2 to 4 spectator's selections.


6. Meltdown Cardbox

- A great novel effect, spectator selection is seem melt through the cardbox and sandwich in the deck. Very visual piece of card magic. No gimmick deck or special cards.


7. Stal-king Triumphant

- A combination of triumph and locating spectator's card effecs. Great card magic effect.


8. Sigma False-Cut

- A deceptive false cut and retain the whole deck order.


9. Looping Melt

- A rubberband tied around the deck and seem melt through the deck and find the spectator's selection. Very visual!


10. Inferno & Voodoo Seance

- A bizzare piece of magic, a burn card (selection) seem revived from the ashes and restored to its former self. Very scary!


11.Mage Sandwich

- A sandwich card effect that involved 2 selections with 2 phases.


I have still many to come, if I have new items, I will kindly adding more in this list. ^_^

Andrew, your effects sound cool

But just for your own safety, when u publish a book, solely giving credits will not be enough. This is unlike in a performance vid, you are actually disclosing the methods and earning money in the process.

Hence, i feel that its best if u can contact the creator or the publisher if your effect is similar or uses some handlings. Stuff like DL, etc are common enough so perhaps it will not harm you if u did not ask permission.

This is also one of the reasons why professional magicians take years to write a book. Not only cos they wanna refine their items, but also they need to seek permissions from the correct places.

Some effects like Looping Melt, Inferno & Voodoo Seance and Meltdown Cardbox and even the triumphs have already been commercialised, or rather, the effect has been published and sold in manual scripts, just that i cant recall where i have seen and learnt it from. Althou the names are different, it is still best to ensure the handling is different.

For example, i can PM you my handing of an effect similar to the looping melt which i have learnt from a manual script i bought many years back. the effect is that the spec freely chooses a card, places it back into the deck anywhere, u wrap a rubberband twice round the deck and with a snap, the rubber band disappears and when u spread the deck, it had captured the selection.

So its best you do some research least you get into trouble with the authorites. ^_^

Yes! I certainly understood all these things clearly before I am continue my this project, I contacted quite a number of authors if I added variations of their effects and so on. ^_^ - I have to seek their permission first.

Oh yes, about the VCD, in this VCD, I don't enclose any secrets or methods in my magic, this VCD is just solely in my performance only. So that you have some idea how is my effects in my book.

Yes, those sleights that I mentioned are very common in the card magic, so I assume you guys have some this foundation already. So, I don't provide any explanation here.

To be honest, I started composed my book in the year of 2003, I developed. adding some variations, and so on. It's my hope and gain some experience in writing book. ;)

For your info guys, I think I will limit my book which just selling 20 - 30 copies ONLY, as I would like to keep my book as an exclusive collection. If I sell finish, I think I will not print again. :) - Just would like to keep the book unique!

Frankly, I would say 75% of all the effects above are my sudden "POP UP IDEA", I would say Up & Down I got the inspirations from Roy Walton and Euan Bingham, Topsy-Turvy from John Guastaferro, Eminent Triumph 1 & 2, obviously Dai Vernon, Inferno & Voodoo is Ross Gardner.

Well, other effects are my POP UP IDEA, what I mean is I play the deck with it and suddenly it triggered my mind of creating these effects. :lol:

Yes, I am actually aiming to sell my book to local magician ONLY. Even though I am selling to local magicians here, but yes, I am still do my ethical job as an author, providing credits wherever I get the source from.

I am very strict in "credits" section, whatever I get the source or inspirations from, I would 1000% credit the originator. I also will provide you what book, what pages to find those particular information.

This is my 1st time of experience to become an author of magic book, so I can't take too much risk of printing too many magic books one at a time. ;) - I really hope that you guys understand my intentions for limiting the books 20 to 30 copies. :unsure: - also have the advantage for you guys, if I selling more, maybe the chances next time you perform my effects from that book, there are high possibilities that the other magicians know your effects already. :P

I am sure you guys will like to perform my card effects like "Meltdown Cardbox", "Stal-king Triumphant", "Eminent Triumph I & II", "5 Sandwich card effects", etc, which play very well to laymen and maybe fellow magicians. I have been playing around these effects quite some time, or I should say during my 'college' times. :lol:

To be honest folks, now I have 20+ card effects which I have compiled and written, but now, I am deciding to divide the effects into 2 books, which means Volume 1, maybe I will include 10+ effects, in volume 2 also 10+ effects which might be reserved for my future publications. So, I need to balance some strong and some easy card effects. B) - Though some of my card effects require some advance handling.

Yes, about the payment, you can send me a "Bank Draft" which I prefer this payment as I will receive this payment really FAST if compare to CHEQUE which have to wait a few days to clear the CHEQUE.

Erm....Andrew, please becareful that you have PERMISSION from the creators of the tricks before you release them.
This is not just a matter of crediting the creators, this is getting their permission because you are releasing their secrets. So whether you have any variations to their method or not, it will be good if you ask them 1st.

Yes, the first objective of my book is now I target to the local community, but to be honest, my main intention of writing this book is I would like to share my magic with card enthusiats and also would like to gain some experience in this interest.

But, wow, it's not an easy task of writing a book. :P - Have been compiling all my effects, heavily verify the credits source, editing, designing, spelling checking, etc.

Eric, :huh: - No, my main intention of writing my own magic book is not due to some kind of popularity factor, I am a humble person and would like to remain humble always. :P - I can't be the judge of judging my book effects as 'strong' or 'powerful' or not, you guys will be the judge to determine my book's effects whether there are up to your taste or quality or not. :P

Anyway, my book is now 70% complete, have to add some illustrations of showing my handling and editing, I will inform you guys my status of my book. ;)

I think wow, in my book under 'acknowledgement', I will credit a lot to my friends for those showing their support in my works. :lol:

To be honest, there are a lot of things to do and I have just came up with something or a move that can be applied in many areas like ambitious card routines, colour changes, card to pocket or envelope, etc.

Which these effects I mentioned above will be included in my book 'Pasteboard Galore'. ^_^ - Which a bang to your buck. ;)

Also came up my own version of Paul Harris's 'Reset', I just came up this this morning after watching Jean Pierre Vallarino's Rendez Vous DVD, I saw his reset and I was amazed of his reset version. But, it's not easy to do, so, immediately I came up with my own version of reset which is no p******, g****** c*r*s, etc. On top of that, I add some dramatic colour changes in my version of reset which creates some very visual piece of magic. :)

Don't worry, I maybe include this effect in my book and hopefully you guys will enjoy performing, I would say it's very visual in apperance. ;)

Ok guys, got to do some editing now and under GOD blessing, hopefully everything go on smoothly and also in the big hope that my book will be out shortly. ^_^

P/s: Guys, to be honest and frankly, my main intention to come up my book is to gain my lifetime experience, I would like to taste how's the life of being an author. ^_^
