Um,
eric...
Jack Avis...."Ahead of the pack" has a well talked about approach to one of the weakness of this method

Anyone actually ever done this before? How did it come out?

Pick up 13 Steps to Mentalism or that little blue book by Anneman... Mental Mysteries or Miracles I think.... Both have very good handlings on not only the basic center tear, but also other useful billet moves for a mentalist. If all you want is the center tear, Osterlind's would be the way to go. There are so many other different center tears on the market, but all of them achieve the same effect, and the more contemporary center tears are almost identical in execution. I have seen 3 'different' center tears from 3 different authors, but they all look the same to me. Of course, what makes them different is all those tiny subtleties, like what type of paper to use, how to crease the paper etc. Never really gave a shit about that. <_<
Also, for an identical effect, just use a bloody imp pad :P Useful stuff.
Hoped this helped you! ^_^
Regards,
Shan
BTW, doktokaro, I did this for a friend of mine, and the revelation was like... Damn he worshipped the ground I stepped on for a week!!! :P For best results, throw in a spate of cold reading ^_^

Lol shan, I did this to a friend the other day. She's the person that doesn't really care about magic, but I did her anyways... did Center Tear to her that is. And now she can't stop bugging asking how it could've been possible.
Does the 13 Steps to Mentalism teach you mentalism magic and the psychology and stuff? Or it's like a lecture of "how to be a good mentalist"?

In one of the Mark Wilson book, the book also taught some centre tear techniques. But, I haven't use them yet. But I know surely it's effective to audience very well. ^_^
