Hi folks,

Does anyone here have Phil Goldstein 'Focus' card magic book?

Just would like to know and share some of your favourites routines here, thanks!

Looking forward of your reply folks!

Best Wishes,
Andrew Loh

hey andrew was wondering if you were able to do the trick which required those special DF cards....like a 2S/3S DF card...
can't remember the name of the trick, but it's almost right at the end of the book...
He said it's the trick he used that fooled lots of magicians or something...

I read several reviews on the book... wow, card magic by phil goldstein?! Must be worthwhile :)

Opps! Excuse me??!?!??! - Which effects you mentioned Eric?????

Is it you mix up with Phil's Focus and Dave Campbell Legacy book?!?!??!

Yup, I have the book and I think it's worth it. The effects mostly packet tricks, for those of you dislike packet card tricks, then this book is DEFINITELY NOT for you.

But, it's worth to read and try out the effects, you will see that Max is a very creative magician. ;)

yeaps Andrew, i'm talking bout Focus, not Dave Campbell Legacy here.
There is a card effect which needs a 2S/3S DF...and a AS/2S DF too
i actually took the time to make those 2 cards, but then the cards are still lying there in the corner as i've never gone back to the routine...
The routine is near the end of the book
arrghh, i 'm too lazy to go get the book now....but when i do, i'll tell you the title of the trick

Eryanic,

You have Focus?

Eric Liew - November 9, 2005 12:30 PM (GMT)
mindreak, yeah i do
if not then i won't be talking bout that routine right? Since when were you a Phil Goldstein fan ? heh..

Andrew, the trick i'm talking about is called "Impressions" on page 129

"in the 1970s I performed this routine at many conventions, and in some circles its reputation grew to near-mythic proportions."

Hey Eric, thanks for reminding me again of that awesome effect. Wow, 6 pages to go, no problem man. I think I have to read and try again, quite some time I never view that effect already! But, I dislike to use DF card in card magic. Well, I love the idea of universal card plot, seems very magical to me always! ^_^
