We can also use this time to talk about the December Gathering for the MMF, and also, if balaan comes, we can talk about his tv project and stuff, and we're going to proceed from that. Everyone's invited... damn that line sounds familiar! Anyways, everybody's invited including our fellows from Melaka and everywhere else. You can bring stuff you'd like to sell, cus you might just find a buyer then! And bring along your magic buddies if you want :D

So any suggestion for the place and time? It was done at Berjaya Time Square's Starbucks before, at 2 PM. So if this is good with you all, then we'd stick with it.

And yeah abt calling people by their nicknames.... heehe its quite common.i get called MagicB quite a lot when i was in spore. i guess, u get used to it after a while. but later i guess, those who knows u more will call u by name.

I remembered going for the magic meeting in spore, meeting the greats like Bone, Huron, Kevin, Sly, Cai and Daryl etc. Great fun to watch them all do their stuff. It was fun hanging out with Illusionist, Winder, llyod, Nicholas, Mystical and Hearts of club. These fellas have wonderful hospitality.

wow...tomorrow, u guys from MMF will meet finally get to meet up. how awesome is that man. great! Have fun! get to know each other more, get more people interested in the art and lets all grow together :). Looking forward for some feedbacks on the meeting.

Ya the meeting yesterday was indeed a successful one..rainking's name list is correct..we've got 9 members showed up! (Some said they saw isaac was around but some said not, very weird :D )
So..after simple introduction among the group (we seem to only be able to call each other by nicknames hehe), then the show time of corz..err everyone showed something if i'm not mistaken..but i think i did miss some tricks on the other table)..i'm not the best person to comment on the tricks la..coz only know cards..ok i'll try..(comments start from ppl sitting nearest to furthest to me :) )
1. Me: I did some cards routine like Bizarre twist, Fav aces productions, Kings assembly, The Sum of All Parts, All from ONE, Lie detector..i think tat's all?
2. Doctokaro: I like his style! think we r quite similar..he did some fantastic flourishes, and some david Acer's tricks n we exhanged one..hehe..
3. Canbeef & Shan: Good brothers n they are the coin performers of the day! Err i can't name out the coin tricks but all are cool..well, coins are always somethin really hard to master..but they did perform like a coin specialist..salute the two!
4. Vision: Can i call him the special guest of the day? you should look at his name card: President of Asian Business Development! Having branches in HK n Aus n now he's thinking of grouping us all to do some events someday! think we need lots of help from him in the future. N needless to say, he's a magician too..wit lots of magic clips in his laptop, and performed some cool rope tricks too.
To the next table, i'm so sorry that i think i missed quite alot of what you all did. But trust me, whenever i turned my head to the table, there's always some crazy magic goin on!=)
5. Rainking: Apparently a very good-father-looking man, seems to be well knowledged in magic. There we witnessed how good is his card vanish-n-appear - lighting fast n flawless!
6. Kenningst: A big size, great built man with good sense of humour. He's got alot of great ideas bout our video-making. Doesn't really seem like a beginner as wat he said to me. Hehe
7. Jackliw: Woo guys, this man is seriously an expert in disguised. Should look at his bag! Full of magic probs n gadgets n surprises..he performed a wide range of magic..very experienced n entertaining!
8. Baalan: Our levitating artist of the day. He levitated bill n hummingbird card which attracted much attention. I think he showed quite some card tricks too but i missed alot.

So..ya tat's bout the first 'grand' MMF meeting. I think more is coming up esp the end of year one.

MAN OH MAN! It was really, really great! Yup there were nine people in attendance, but WAS ISAC THERE? woohoo that's a mystery to be solved! (hint: it was his evil twin).

First off: everyone didn't look like I thought they'd look. :!!: hahahahah jk.

Anyways, I came late so I only found darren and Canbeef upstair. So we had some chit chat and intros, then finally all the guys got up and joined us. And then we had the session heheheh. Darren took the honor to show the first card tricks, while I saw jackliw did some dLite's (if I'm not mistaken). Then I showed a trick. Then everybody got their turn showing tricks. I spent the first 1/3 of my time mostly around the card people (darren, vision, canbeef & shan, even though the latter are more into beautiful coin performance) with me and darren exchanged some flourishes and tricks, the second 1/3 with the whole group especially with balaan with his levitation act (dude I saw a woman stared blankly when you flew those cards! hahahahahah ;)) in fact he gave me THREE LIFETIME SUPPLIES OF IT!!!!!! Then finally, I spent the last 1/3 with jackliw (it was also with rainking, but he had to leave early). We exchanged trick and man is he a pro? Looking at his bags and decks, you'd think he is :) Very nice and funny man, I always laugh when he performed cardtoon heheheh!

Well anyways, for how they were then, Darren summed it up quite nice. Everyone was involved, everybody was great. NOBODY was a true beginner in its orthodox sense (cus apparently they all already know something ;)). All in all, it was a great experience and MMF should have this as a monthly thing.

I think we really did attract a lot of attention that day. Must comment on the event cause it was a really eye opener.

One of the spectator is the little white kid who keeps on looking on Jackliw is doing with his gadgets. I think i saw that he is something like 20 decks of bikes all modified for different tricks and i think he is really good at entertaining with all the expression he does along with the trick. This little magic bag is really cool. got so many stuffs in it that i couldn't get to see all of them.

Balaan is our LOA man of the day when de does the levitated bill n hummingbird card and he also personally show me his fakie levitation when we went down to puff.was all cool. Hey balaan,think you have to lose the janggut and mustach if u wanna become an IT specialist...hahaha... we will need balaan to pull in the strings for all the video production. he has the contacts enough to make a N'SYNC music video or You Got Served movie... :blink:

Darren and also Doctokaro, pls accept 3 times of my humble bow and salute!!! you guys are so damn smooth man especially the Kings assembly by Darren and there is this trick that was an eye opener for me done by doctokaro but i cannot remember how it went.You guys just inspired me to major in cards!! hey... any of you take in any students/ pupil??can i get in line to sign up??i am serious, you know? PM me if you think you can teach a guy like me...

Canbeef and shan: Our coin expert... when you guys were doing tricks, i was suspecting if you guys have double sided on the palm cause the coins stick ur hands like you've got implanted magnet under your skin or something. like the routine that shan makes when suddenly a coin appears on the audience's shoulder. really cool man... and canbeef can really vanish coins...i mean really really vanish so fast that you don't have time to react...

Rainking: the father of magic. althought i insisted him to show me more stuffs other that the vanish-n-appear but he didn't, he really is like the internet for magic. seems to know everything about magic....

Vision: meet him at magic ring even before the gathering itself. really cool to know that he actually have gadgets that he doesn't/forgotten how to use them and he unlike rainking brought along his laptop and able to go online (Wi-fi in starbucks). hahaha... anyways... hope you can stick around vision....

sorry for not able to show any cool tricks that day as i was jusy leeching from everyone although i showed an old trick that i've learned almost 10 years ago but that was nothing. Hope to be able to meet up with you guys again. I am now all excited for our event end of this year...

i think i am very misunderstood here. I do not know a lot about magic. I do not know a lot of the stuff u guys talk about, I dont know the names u guys mentioned, and i dont know the moves i keep hearing about.

I would rate myself a newbie and everyone i met is better at magic than me.
Dunno why u guys see me as knowledgeable, :huh: maybe its because i'm older, or that i look like santa without the red suit and beard. :P

Guess i am lat ein posting the review for the meeting. HAHA. Didn't know that you guys will have gone through the entire meeting so thouroughly. Basically lemme just put it this way "the meeting was WACKED!". It was super fun and first time i spend 7 hours non stop in STARBUCKS. So to keep it short, eventhough it was the first gathering for me, there was almost an instantenous connection once our the fellow magicians of MMF met. Which was the beauty of the meeting, as that connection was purely magical.

Ohya, btw have to my deepest appreciation to Yap for borrowing me the cups and balls to practice. And of course Balan for giving me a lift home and showing me the Fantasma props. Also to everyone who was present for the meeting, thank you so muhc for being there and keeping things alive. Also, a thousand apologies to Derren for forgoting my selected card few times when he was performing his cool revelation tricks. hahaha.

Really nice to see what some of you guys look like. Sounds like a great meeting indeed. Wish I could have been there though I woudl have been more of an audience than a performer. I can't do most if not all of the stuff that was described in this thread.

But at least I had fun in Cambodia doing the simplest of magic and yet getting such nice reactions. Never thought stuff like straw through the nose "banana slicing", coin in the roll, glass through the table etc. could get such "pop". :D
I would not have the guts to do this sort of thing in front of you guys :lol:
