Title: Digital Camera Vs Video Camera
Description: Which to invest in...

Brendan Low - June 7, 2005 12:20 AM (GMT)
G'day guys,

Im thinking of investing in either a digicam or a vid cam. Im dunno much abt these electronice stuff. My purpose of getting them is of course to take good pics as well as take a vid footage (magic, flourish, outings etc etc).

I know both digicam and vidcam can do similar functions (ie. take pics and take video). Just dunno wat the advantages and disadvantages are. i know that vidcam pic quality aint that good? is it? but digicam ur vid footage is only limited to ya memory card size.

what else ah?

In terms of budget... hmmmm lets say RM2,000? (should be more than enough?)

does anyone have a vidcam? what do you think abt them? im also getting interested in video editing and wanna learn more abt them. anyone can guide me?

Thanks,
MagicB

yoz B-brader,
digicam would be more than enough... if u worried about the video length, get a 1GB card.. which is within affordable range. 2k u can get a good enough cam. Unless u dun bother by the vidcam's size, and always shoot video than taking still image.

Yeah, that's the feedback ive been getting. a digicam is good enough. Damon recommended me to get Canon IXUS 30. Tat's what he used and he said that its good enough. So, i might check that out.

Cheers!

I don't know this is true or not, I asked a camera dealer about digital camera and he said that it's not ideal to use digital camera to record video clips, this will reduce its life span of the digi cam, is this true???

I saw my friends' camera and he bought just RM 580, it was a Canon brand, and wow, the picture and photos he took were very nice and neat. Hope I also should invest one. :P

if u can afford a video camera, it would be wayyy better to buy one. i recommend a Sony mini DV cam (any model). they're reliable and have great functions. i've worked with enough cameras to last a lifetime, and i still say a Sony DVcam is the best.
of course, for a normal digicam (or manual SLR, normal cam, etc), Canon rocks.
