Hi folks,
It's difficult to obtain magic books through the phone and email orderings as the person in charge in not interested to take down your order. :( - I tried a few times already and at the end, they will tell you Out of stock. :(
If they have, they usually sell 'beginner' books. But they do sell some great books like 'Royal road to card magic', 'Expert card technique', 'Charles Jordan card tricks', etc.
AOA is a fantastic books I have ever read, but sadly I sold out the 3 volumes to my friends in the US. Planning to get back the copies again. :(
Best,
Andrew

Rainking,
Try to search around KL bookshop as I believe they mostly carry one in their bookshop.
Wish you luck!

Or easier, check out
Acmabooks.comThey deliver to Malaysia. I bought my Expert Card Technique and Card Control from there... They practically have everything Amazon has.
Will provide a review for Expert Card Technique and Card Control in the not so far future.

Andrew Loh - March 19, 2005 01:55 PM (GMT)
Hi folks,
Yes! All these books are truly GEMS. Should own it as a classic collections.
I consider Expert Card Technique as one of my favourite book. ^_^
Do you guys know Peter Duffie? Just in case for some of you maybe not really familiar him, he is a Scottish card magician and many Scottish respect this guy. I really like his magic, it's marvellous. On top of that, I chat with him and made friend with him 3 years, he is a nice guys. ^_^
He has 450+ magic books in his collections and 'Expert Card Technique' is one of his favourite book among the 450+. :!!:

thanks for the website, mindfreak
i will check it out.
any good books u recommend?
Joe Xavier - March 21, 2005 03:21 PM (GMT)
So far, I only bought 2 books from there and as I mentioned earlier, they are: Card Control and Expert Card Technique; Close Up Table Magic.
Of these two books, I recommend Expert Card Technique all the way! One thing is because in Card control, its a little harder to understand the diagrams and the moves are mostly claimed to be originated from him. Like what most forums comment on, Card Control's author is too proud... and it was obvious in the statements regarding the origin of the moves.
Expert Card Technique requires the basic knowledge in card handling and manipulations. Although it is good, it still requires a higher level of understanding to actually know what the author is talking about. I like that book because of the simplicity of how each terms are defined and stuff.
There are other good books online but the best way to find out is to visit more magic forums and read the reviews on the books they use. This is a plus because Acmabooks.com supplies almost all books which are supplied by Amazon. So, if some magician from US or UK recommends a book, we can also get it here too.
Good luck!

Hey fellas... if you're interested in ordering books I can help you too, directly from my magic supplier in the States. You can get other books like Max Mavern's mentalism gem PRISM, the highly acclaimed Art of Astonishment book set, and more, besides the Royal Road to Card Magic, Bobo's Modern Coin Magic, etc books...
I've honestly never shipped anything to Malaysia recently (last was many years back when I had a penpal who lived in Melaka) but we can always work things out. Just do an internet search and let me know what you'e looking for. I may not be able to check my inbox here very often, so just drop me an email @ admin@thelittlemagicshop.com and tell me what I can hep you with- books, DVDs, videos, various magic props (stage, parlour, close up, cards, etc).
Please note that all my DVDs are originals - no pirated copies. And all things are barnd new unless stated ^_^ -Ning

How about the shipping price?

That would depend according to the weight of the items :) For instance, the postage for Tommy Wonder's "Book of Wonder" hardcover copy would be more expensive then say, a Shoot Ogawa Ninja Rings DVD.
But no worries, we can always work this out. We're just a causeway away, not like a few continents or something!

i think it was zhuanan who recommended www.loomismagic.com
AWESOME price and sihpping is $15 or so PER ORDER...
so no matter how many books..it's $15
so if u're intending to buy in bulk...this is the place!
So far, it offers the cheapest prices of books i've seen so far

I have spoken with Dennis Loomis before and he is a real gentleman.
I once ordered a book from him just to find that it was out of stock. He immediately emailed me and asked if i wanted a refund or to credit it for future purchases.
I was quite disappointed at that time and kinda felt cheated so i opted for a refund.
He immediately paypaled me the full amount and a bit more to cover the amount which paypal deducts. He is in this way losing twice the amount. Once when i was sending him the cash, and another when he added in the amount to refund me so that i would not lose any money.
Hence, he is trustworthy and who ever wants to order from loomis, i would recommd them to as i believe they are geninue in their services. ^_^
just qouting an experience with them. I am in no ways promoting their stall.
Cheers!! B)

That's the way of buying things from overseas by your own.

Yap, if one does not plan properly and just buy anything that one likes, one will always finds his wallet always "kosong"....
And, talking about loomismagic, I bumped into it when I was searching for Card College, and hence recommended here....hope to help ease some of the cost in buying Magic
I have just ordered Card College 1 - 2 from him. Though of buying the whole set but don't think I can digest it so fast....also, it "feels" expensive when buying the whole set together....
I think buying Card College, in a way is better than buying some of the DVDs out there - for purpose of bulding up your foundation...I think CC teaches you a lot of basic + advance sleights....thus, if you manage to master it, it would help when you venture into some great DVDs of Card Magic (eg. Brainstorm, Impossible Card Magic) because the concepts can be very much the same....even if the concepts are different, because you have had your foundation down...it also helps the learning process.....
According to the site, books will be shipped via Global Priority Mail, hope these babies will reach my house before the end of next week lo....
Eric Liew - May 28, 2005 04:49 AM (GMT)
I bought CC off Penguin few years ago...
Have never heard of loomis until you mentioned it..
went to hocus-pocus, magic warehouse, ellusionist..etc all those other places to compare the prices and i thought penguin was still the cheapest...moreover they had a big bonus sale that time....
Zhuanan, perhaps if you bought all 5 together you can ask for discount??
Andrew Loh - May 29, 2005 12:25 PM (GMT)
Just would like to know PenguinMagic way they packaged your parcel, are they packaged your parcel nicely?????
I have purchased some magic stuffs from other overseas shop, the way they packaged my things not neat. :(
Andrew

eryanic:
I have just bough Card College Vol 1 - 2 from loomismagic...
I thought of buying whole set and request for further discount but feel very "xiong" if I were to do so...
Hence I have decided on Vol 1 and 2. Then later move on to Vol 3 - 5....
Wah, I can imagine if someone can master the essential moves in the series, he will really be "Dou San" man...or if not "Pai San"....to say the least... ^_^
