Title: Hail To All My Fellow Magicians And Flourishers!
Description: icebreaker///

LordVader - June 22, 2005 08:32 AM (GMT)
Hello everybody... :D

How are you guys doing today? I hope 'magic' is all around you... :)
First of all.. I'm so glad that I've found this community...Thanks to Brendan for inviting me during our friendster session.. Before this, I've no idea at all that we..Malaysian Magician & Flourisher actually have our own forum to discuss things and changing ideas with each others.. Hail to the site developer!!!

Let me introduce myself.. I'm a 23 years old guy that had fall in love with magic since my childhood... I started to learn magic while I went to overseas (for vacation) 4 years ago.. There I met a few cool guys presenting their 'street magic' routine to me and my family...and I'm like WOW!! HOW THEY DO THAT?? Then, I politely asked them to teach me a few simple tricks... And start from that moment I always keep on learning and learning skills and sleights from videos I bought there...

I'm more into cards, coins, cigarettes and impromptu magic... but my main weapon is cards!!! I love to do card tricks and present it to friends & family... and sometimes to stranger..heh! .. I also like doing flourish with cards like fanning, cuts, cybil, false move, etc. and practising DEVO's teachings... I bought all his videos and I keep chalenging myself to be recognized as one of XCM Masters by Devo himself...(lol..wake up boy! you are dreaming!! :P ) Hmm.. Hey! I want to share something with you guys...I have personally contact Devo by emails.. and guess what!! He said that he is willing to come to Malaysia if we can gather 100 Malaysian that practising the art!! (XCM)... Cool eh!? :!!: I'm just hoping that someday it will come true...

Guys,
I hope that after this we will have an oppurtunity to know each other better... and sharing ideas, tips, and even new tricks that any of us invented... 'A good magician is a magician that keep on inventing and innovating'.... I can see a very bright future for the magic & flourish scene here in Malaysia.. 'New generation' shop like MAGIC RING in Berjaya Time Square will rock the scene!! Personally, I very like the shop.... friendly staff...good price...and lots of stuff!!! The good thing is that we have other choices for spending our money rather than relying on the old pudu magic shop... Hopefully in future, there will be more shops like MAGIC RING opened for business....

Oh yeah!! I like to share with you what I'm always thinking on my mind while practising my skills and sleights... I found that it helping me..and I hope it will do the same to you too.. :) "You MUST fail many times...then only you will succeed"

Thank you very much...

Regards,
LoRdVaDeR :ph43r:

Okay, that makes about 5-10 people. we need 90-95 more.

Peter - June 26, 2005 03:20 PM (GMT)
i think we have more than 20 ppl. we need another 80. even if we gather all the ppl who ever registered in the forum to come, we still need another 20 or so. u think SMC might wanna fly in for this?

isaac - June 26, 2005 05:57 PM (GMT)
ooi i am in also
XCM i am not very good but practising ....

btw for starwars fan out there
check this out www.storewars.org :D

Peter - June 27, 2005 07:32 AM (GMT)
how many active MMF XCM'ers do we have in here anyways??? can anyone give me a figure??

Ignatius - June 27, 2005 12:59 PM (GMT)
I don't think our XCM artist numbers go over 15. Many are still not that good. Not really sure if can count those in as they usually do by watching others performance or videos without the proper learning methods. And I'm sure De`vo doesn't want those types unless they're very good at the art. I'm not against it. It's De`vo. He'd like to keep the exclusivity of the art.

Well, if and when we have a regular gathering with SMC like annually or biannually, then we can and may invite De`vo to such a gathering. The numbers, nobody properly knows yet.

Brendan Low - June 27, 2005 02:41 PM (GMT)
Devo.... if he is really coming down to malaysia if we get a good amount of real flourishers, that will be great. SOme how its hard to see him the man himself coming to msia. but if he comes it will be great!

does anyone here know wat he looks like or how old he is? :P hehe

Brendan

Peter - June 27, 2005 05:31 PM (GMT)
Keep in mind that we still lack the criteria he sets though.... 100 XCM'ers

isaac - June 27, 2005 06:15 PM (GMT)
how do u put someone as XCM'er ??

if ppl like me who is learning izit part of it ?

or u must b good only can consider as one ??

Brendan Low - June 28, 2005 02:55 AM (GMT)
being able just to do a charlier cut does not make u an XCM as every card magician can do a charlier cut.

what makes a XCMer stand out is his ability to manipulate the cards, by doing cuts, spreads, springs etc etc.

It not easy whether u wanna classify if someone is an XCMer. i think the person must at least be able to do some variations of sybil/cuts.

for those who has interest, if u do have interest u will practice and oneday be able to do the move and thus u will be an XCMer.

i dunno... i prefer calling myself a Flourisher. XCMer is the term used by superhandz.

Brendan

isaac - June 28, 2005 06:46 AM (GMT)
if in this case how we can make sure we have 100 XCM'er ??

i reali wanna see devo to come down to MAlaysia

n i wan to b part of the 100

must start practise hard

:)

Kam - June 28, 2005 09:59 AM (GMT)
Even De'vo himself is not too fond of sybils and cuts (I read it somewhere on Superhandz forum). But this is off topic :) Let's start a new thread about that.

Ignatius - June 29, 2005 03:55 AM (GMT)
I have a vid of Devo. He has a face like um.... old version of Tudor mix with Steven Seagal but not tall nor short type of guy. Ok, moving to new thread. Created one yet?

Edit: He's 35-45 years old range. Fairly fat. Um, about like thinner than those fat old security guards/police type of fat. Yep Devo isn't fond of Sybils but lately he seems to relax his "principles and rules" a little.

Brendan Low - June 29, 2005 04:12 AM (GMT)
Aerox, u can tell us more abt what u know abt him in the flourish section. Ive made a topic just on Devo.... so yeah. Go there if u wana talk more abt Devo.

Cheers,
Brendan
